Simplified Computers

I will acknowledge that I initially had reservations after the device was first installed. The service/installation gentlemen informed me after the sale that there was no owners manual. (I shoulda said no sale at that time) he visited at least three times subsequent to the initial installation. Each time he did not charge and explained that there were issues that he resolved with the equipment. In May 2012, I started a long and difficult encounter with cardiac issues involving surgery and a long recovery. I did not try to use the printer fax system again until roughly Feb of 2013. I called Simplified Computers regarding the problem and asked for troubleshooting assistance. They pleasantly assured me that the manual for the device had a troubleshooting section. And, when I informed the gentleman that I had neither manual or simple users guide, he said it was all available on line. They were also kind enough to inform me that the one year warranty had expired. I explained in a subsequent call that the online manual was very lengthy and extremely difficult to understand. (It seemed to me to be translated from a foreign language to english(?).). I put the whole issue on a back burner until roughly Feb 2014 when I contacted Simplified Computers again in effort to salvage some value from a costly purchase. A young man at Simplified Computer was sympathetic and agreed to stop by and trouble shoot the system. He spent roughly 45 minutes quietly working with Samsung Printer and associated devices. He told me he had it fixed. And it seemed to work very well. I asked about my bill for his services and he said, "no charge because the issue was with the Samsung." I asked how I would go about fixing problems in the future, and he stated that the issues were beyond the user manual and would require a technical service manual. The young man's honesty was refreshing. I recall giving him one, possibly two, $20 bill. The device worked for about two months. I recently have had a requirement for convenient faxing capability. I called Simplified Computer to ask about the value of this device. That question seems to have an answer close to or below $0. Below because it will likely cost me something to recycle the d*** thing. My conversation was pleasant, and I was very pleasant when I told the gentleman that I could not envision myself recommending them or purchasing from them in the future We wished each other a pleasant day.

They were not able to recover the information from the HD on my laptop so I took it to a friend's brother who was able to recover everything for me.

After finding  the service Simplified Computers 901 S Neil, Champaign,IL on your list.  This service had A+ rating.  I had called for information on getting my IBM Think Pad repaired, report stated that the service had offered given for my  type of computer.  The gentleman,( I forgot his name) that had answered was very courteous, very accommodating,offered suggestions and gave hours that would be suitable for my convience. Because of my having to travel a distance, he offered a good time that I could come, so that he could  directly look at my computer without having to wait for service.  He seemed to be honest with his assessment  on what could or could not be done.  I ended up not needing his service, but in the future I would definitely use his business.  He was surprised that his business was on Angie's List.  My son ended fixing my computer for me at better price, he did not charge me.

They were quick and they did a good job. I drove to their office for the repair. I thought the price was too high and they reduced the price.

I have used Simplified Computers off and on to maintain my computers for many years, since even before they opened their store on south Neil.  (They now have a second store in Mahomet.)  I have had them build several computers for me, including the desktop I am presently using, and the results have always been excellent.  On the repair side of things, I have had one or two less than perfect experiences with them over the at least 15 years I've been using their services, but on the whole their work has been competent, reliable, and expeditious.  They have responded to problems rapidly and sympathetically, and have resolved them as quickly as they could.

They are not cheap.  Their in-shop repair rates (presently $75/hour, I believe) are probably the local going rate; and you can pay a bit more ($100/hour) for more rapid attention.  The 1 1/2 hours it took them to repair my current problem cost me $150.  If you prefer, you can have a repairman come to your computer instead of taking your computer to them; that costs a bit more, of course, but sometimes circumstances make that the desirable course of action.

I fully intend to use their services if I somehow get into hot water again.
