So, I called various companies and these guys had schedule availability, and they assured me that they had an auger that could go more than 100 feet. I've had this done before, and it has been around $200. The desk person said that they would call me again when they were and quot;on the wayand quot;.
On the call back, I again verified that they had an auger that was more than 100 feet. I was assured that they did have.
Well, they get there, and they don't have an auger that is more than 100 feet. BUT, they have the ability to and quot;jetand quot; the line out past 100 feet, and and quot;you get a free video of the line to make sure it is clean afterwardsand quot;.... All for a mere $419. I didn't care about the video, but I needed the sewer fixed. So, rather than continue to go through the hassle of finding another company, etc etc... I told them to go ahead and do it.
So, they jetted the line. The backup drained away, and the video was scheduled for the next morning.
Next morning arrives. The video guy comes, and does a good job with the video work. He gets down the line about 90 feet or so and finds that the sewer line had broken and was mostly blocked. It was going to have to be dug up and replaced. Upon using his nifty finder tool, he determined that it was right on the edge of the street. He said this was going to complicate repair as they'd have to dig up a bit of the street. Long story short, I ended up getting a quote to fix that little section for about $7,000 and change. The guy was friendly and professional. And, in retrospect, it was a great thing to have gotten the video. Points to them for that. :)
I shopped around and found a company that said they thought they could fix the problem without getting under the street for about $1,500, and if they had to go under the street it would be $3,000. And, the quote included replacing the broken section as well as the remaining and quot;olderand quot; pipe back about 10 feet to connect with newer, which greatly reduced the odds of future problems.
Josh was the tech and he was excellent. He was very professional and compassionate. Jason, the manager was great too. I would recommend them to anyone.
Please see second review of Roto Rooter service on this property. The job that was started in December was finally completed in July.
We also had a shower issue (leaking into our basement, our brand new shower at that) and he said he could fix that too and wish we would have told him and he could have done it that same night but it was getting late. When my husband originally called RR for both issues, they said they were sending a drain specialist for our sump pump and would have to send a plumber for the shower. But come to find out the guy that came was both and so we could have saved some money. So the RR staff were not correct. The guy ended up coming back and fixing our shower in a matter of minutes (the shower head had come lose from the piping in the wall and that was why it was leaking). But overall, I was very pleased with RR. Specifically, Jared who was our plumber who did all the work.
I had them come out and inspect the sewer line with a camera (for free). I saw a portion of the sewer line was very broken. This was on a Friday. I scheduled to have it replaced and they came out on Monday.
The next crew was also very professional. They had taken care of permits and licenses from the city. and dug up the pipe while minimizing the damage to my yard. They replaced what looked like an old broken clay portion of the sewer line. Within hours, they had filled the dirt back into the hole.
Everything is working very well right now.
They said after putting in camera now are drain pipe that we will need to replace the piping said it was cracked and they're going to charge us $2000. We called to get the second opinion. And they didn't even clean the sewers out. I had to pay another company to do the work. And when I contact Roto- Rooter they said I could sew them in court But I wouldn't get anything. I would not recommend them at all.
