I was surprised that when my sink was not repaired correctly, Rick came out to do it again and charged me for the second visit. I asked him if he does not guarantee his work and he said he does not. It wasn't like the work was a month old but a day old and obviously wasn't done right for the sink to leak again. I do not know if the problem is resolved yet but if it leaks again I rather call the plumber instead of getting charged again. I don't think I should have to pay twice for work that had to be done again. I will not be using this company because I live in a big house and a woman, I felt taken advantage of.

The two men came earlier than planned and did the job for the amount they had suggested it would cost. They were able to repair as I had hoped and we were able to sell the house! (We were required to fix the problem as part of our negotiations with the buyer.)

Professional, straightforward, easy to work with. Completed all work in 5 hours with one helper. Took extra care to clean up after themselves. I have already spoken to Richard about work that needs to be completed in the spring. Great experience!

I would give Richard A+ if I could. My best experience with a handyman or contractor in Urbana. I was very satisfied with the final product, which was exactly as promised. He was careful to take good measurements and ask questions about what I wanted the planter boxes to look like. And he delivered. He was friendly and professional in all of our interactions. He kept me up to date about the progress of the job by calling, texting or emailing me. And when I had a question, he responded quickly. I recommend him very highly.

Richard was able to do the work on the day I called. He was capable, efficient, and friendly. Although the job took longer than expected due to some unexpected difficult aspects of the installation, he handled them well. I was pleased with his work.

It went really well. They were fast, efficient, and cleaned up after themselves when job was completed. Richard explained the repairs he made in detail. Richard and Al were both very personable and easy to talk to.

It was a productive collaboration between Richard, his assistant, Micah, and me over about a 4 month period of time. Richard saw the house as a whole and treated it as if it were his own. In addition to my long list of things and quot;to doand quot; he suggested a variety of small, inexpensive repairs that made a difference not only in appearance, but in the structure of the house (e.g., a railing on the outside porch and repairs of 3 water leaks that I had not seen). The dates of service were not continuous--i.e. he also had other jobs he was working on and some things depended on getting supplies (e.g., ordering replacement parts for the jacuzzi and windows for the basement). When the realtor first saw it (before completion of work) he suggested one sales price. When he saw the final look of the house, the realtor suggested raising the asking price by $5,000. Within a few hours of putting the house on the market, it sold for full price.
Richard billed me weekly with details of labor and materials costs. He knew that I could not go over $15,000 and he was mindful of that throughout the work. In the end, as little things that needed to be done, he did that work and kept his bill at under that dollar limit, even though it would have been fair for him to bill more. [Another job--adding an additional rail to the front porch--he offered to do for materials only because he thought it would add value. I declined that.] When one subcontractor's work took longer than Richard thought it should have, I was not billed for that time.
I mention subcontractors because Richard is a handyman--not licensed for electrical or plumbing work--and he is careful not to do unlicensed work. He worked with people I know and also with people he regularly uses. I plan to switch to his recommendations in the future: they are equally if not more competent and their rates are better.
I had received a bid from another A list person on this site; but his bid for just 3 of the tasks Richard did was about 1/3 of the final costs of the project--and it was clear this person saw the job as and quot;piece workand quot;, not as the task of getting a whole house into shape to sell.

Rich is always really good at responding and then getting the job done. I highly recommend him. He has done several jobs of different types for us in the past year.

Rich is amazing. He not only did an excellent job in a timely fashion, but clearly enjoyed doing it as well. It was evident that doing quality work was important to him. I hope to hire him again in the near future, when I can budget it. I wouldn't even THINK about hiring anyone but him.

He was a very friendly and well-meaning person but he didn’t seem to know exactly what to do. It took him a long time, I had to help him, and I ended up finishing the job because it was a very cheap fixture that just needed to be reattached, he did not need to wire anything. It’s possible that he’s better at other things. The fixture didn’t even cost me $60 and I had to run to the store because he measured incorrectly and if he finished the job it would have cost $120. This was my first time to use a handyman so I don't know how to compare the price.

I needed help putting a keyless door lock on our front door and called the condo association manager to get a name of a handman. I was given Richard's name and number. Richard came to our house to look at the door that night and give me an estimate. He graciously agreed to come on Sunday morning to install the unit even though he normally doesn't work on Sundays. The hole in the door was original and wasn't large enough to accomodate the standard size of the unit I purchased. He had the right equipment with him to drill the hole wider so the unit would fit. He then installed the unit and it worked perfectly. I'm extremely happy with the work and professionalism he showed. I will hire him again and would be happy to provide an excellent reference.
