After three prior pleasant experiences with Champaign Appliance Center, the fourth time proved to be a deal-breaker – literally. The owner of the place, Doug Galbreath, had agreed on Saturday, 02/18/2017, to come to my rental property on Monday, 02/20/2017, to take measurements for three appliances. Well...Although I thought I was a great customer, and all my information was on file with Champaign Appliance Center, Doug apparently did not have my correct phone number, so he never called me on Monday or came out to measure. Finally, I measured myself, then went in to the store on that Monday, 02/20/2017, only to be told that Monday was Doug's day off. Still, I chose to buy a new washer, dryer, and range from Champaign Appliance Center at that time, based on my own measurements. The total for those three appliances was $1,695.14, which I put on my credit card. At that time, I jokingly said that my feelings were hurt since Doug completely blew me off regarding his promise to come out and measure for me. On Wednesday, a store employee called me to tell me that Doug had tried to call me again on Tuesday, 02/21/2017, even though I had been in the store the day before to order the appliances! Say what? The employee could not explain why Doug kept calling a phone number that was apparently off by one numeral. On Thursday, 02/23/2017, when I tried by phone to find out the delivery date for my $1,695.14 worth of appliances and to express my concerns about the mix-up regarding my phone number and his failure to measure for my appliances, Doug said, “I don't want or need your business.” Well! That's good to know. I went and purchased the same appliances at another business for $150.00 less. At least Doug refunded the money to my credit card. So save yourself the aggravation and steer clear of Champaign Appliance Center. Plenty of other stores are willing to take your hard-earned money, and most of them will probably welcome your business, offer you a better customer service interaction, and refrain from telling you to get lost.

The salesman was very knowledgeable about different brands and models. We had a pretty significant space constraint and he was able to help us find a washer and dryer that would fit in our space. Their delivery time estimate was accurate and the delivery people were friendly and efficient. Additionally, the salesman was honest with us about the value of an extended warranty on the washer and dryer. He indicated that it was worth getting one for the washer, but that the dryer would be inexpensive to fix if it ever did break (which he said it was unlikely to do).
