He bid $1300 with the mulch, asked for $700 upfront 2 weeks before work was scheduled, that seemed a bit high, but I wanted to get it done. I asked if he wanted me to water the area's before he came so it would make it easier to pull the weeds and he said no, told me they used hoes. Ok. He came and pulled the weeds from the tops and their was no hoe work. He left all of the roots. The wife bought 6 extra plants and he put them in. He came out with one worker and did it in one day and wanted $400 more for putting in the extra plants. What could I say he already put them in. Within a couple of days the weeds all started to pop up and I have been dealing with it myself. DO NOT HIRE HIM.

He put in alot of plants, trees and bushes. He also put in a stone path.  He was not professional at all. He didnt even give me a written estimate or contract.  A few of the bushes he put in died. I think because they required more sun then he thought they did.

Being a first time homeowner, we didn't have much experience in terms of landscaping.  We brought in numerous landscapers for estimates and chose Rayscape.  Partly because they were middle of the road on price and how comfortable the owner made us.  We initially had him remove a number of large trees from the middle of our yard after which he regraded the soil and sodded the area.  The sod work was ok but left some areas bare.  It was an irregular shaped area so perhaps it is challenging to fit into.

Brought Rayscape out again a couple weeks later to transplant some bushes, install some new evergreens, and do a "fall cleanup/trim  back".  For some reason he brought more evergreens than we needed and instead of just taking it back to the nursery, he made me feel like it was such a burden on him and that we really should just buy the tree.  After he cut the price of the tree in half, we decided to take it.

The evergreens came with a 1 yr guarantee.  I died almost immediately.  Another started looking pretty sickly not too far after.  I call Rayscape back out to replace them and it took multiple reschedules to get him to come out.  I got the impression that he'd only make it out to our place when he "felt like it" or if "he could squeeze us in".  He didn't show up on multiple occassions.  Then suddenly, one day I look in my backyard and the dead tree is gone.  Not replaced, just gone.  He never replaced it, nor did he ever look at the other tree that looked like it was headed for a similar fate.  He also left a lovely trail of lumps of dirt behind when he removed the tree.

All but one of the bushes he transplanted died as a result of the root ball being injured/disturbed.  These were large, mature, beautiful dogwood and verbinum bushes and rather costly to replace.  He also did a fall trim  back which was done just about entirely by chain saw.  Some of our bushes next to our house died as a result of the trauma caused by the saw.  Our yard looks worse than it did before we hired him and that is just a shame since the previous owners spent thousands installing the landscaping.

I actually joined Angie's List to avoide future issues like this.  Very disappointed with the "customer care" we recieved from this company.

landscaping bricks went well but replacement dirt had way to many stones in it to be called black dirt, not satisfied with the outcome.
