The two gentlemen who were replacing our furnace, etc. were excellent workers and very friendly. The furnace was completed in good time and we always appreciate the good services that HR Stewart workers perform.

Our AC went out and we were really in a bind. A friend just used HR Stewart to replace their unit and it was done in hours, not days. We called, asked for Patrick (same contact who installed for friend). He came out and we had the same, great experience. Very professional, showed me what was wrong and drove to Elgin that day to pick up and install a new unit.

Called HR Stewart to get a second opinion after receiving a quote for services from another company.  That first provider's quotes seemed excessively high...even for plumbing...for basic services such as toilet install and trim replacement, let a lone the $6000 quoted for a sump pump with battery backup.  What really soured me on the first company was that they didn't even leave me a brochure or other type of material to research the product they were trying to sell me.  All the products and pricing were handwritten on a piece of paper!!!  I hope there aren't people out there that would spend $6000 without doing some research, but can imagine seniors citizens or people with a foot of water in their basement not having the luxury to say "no thank you!"
That's where HR Stewart comes in.  They're local, so decided to give them a call for a second opinion.  I let it be known that I already received a quote for services and that I was calling them for a second opinion.  Brian came out the next day to do the look things over and provide a quote.  He immediately gained credibility in our eyes as he recongnized the sump unit we had and then recommended a replacement with battery backup that fit our needs.  Unlike the first company, I never felt as if he was trying to upsell me.
There was no charge for the call and, along with the quote, he actually left a product brochure for what he was trying to sell.  From there I got online, and after doing some quick research, found that the unit he recommended was very well reviewed, while also being 1/3 the cost of the bohemeththe first company tried to sell me.  The toilet and trim install was also less expensive than what the other company provided. (The other company also recommended a preasurized toilet instead of the Kholer I bought at HD. Really??? For a home???)
A few days later I called back to schedule the service.  Brian came back and installed the sump pump and the toilet for us.
After our excellent experience with Brian, we'll happily recommend HR Stewart and they will be our first choice for future plumbing needs.
(Note: All plumbing is very expensive, which is why I graded that category a "B".  For context, however, I graded the first company an "F" in Price.)

Brian is professional and seems to know wat he is doing.  The price is high.  We close to vendor and the part piece is not costly.

My AC wasn't getting the house cold and we had been dealing with fans for weeks. HR Stewart came HIGHLY RECOMMENDED and came out to our townhouse, quickly assessed the problem, fixed it and the cost was incredibly reasonable! I was dreading the cost because I heard so many horror stories - but this is an honest, straight forward company that I will recommended left and right to anyone and everyone needing anything fixed around their home.  I will call them in the future if anything arises as well as maintenance for this home and my next!
FANTASTIC!

Twice per year they come in to inspect, clean, replace filter, and humidifier pad, and whatever else is needed on the furnace and air conditioner (check outside units as well). Their service is prompt and complete.  I never have any doubt that what they do is what needs to be done.  They are a fourth generation company.  They even have out-of-state contracts.  I think they are excellent.

I contacted HR Stewart on Thursday and asked if they could come out Friday to take a look at the leak. I was put on the schedule first thing in the morning. I have used them on several occasions and Brian was once again sent out to help me. The old disposal was held in place by 2 screws and putty. He had the disposal in his van and with labor and the part the total was $350. Brian is terrific but their prices Are definitely on the high end. The disposal at Lowes is $125. The benefit for overpaying is the quick turnaround. 15 minutes later, all the leaks were fixed, I had a new disposal and he recommended I get a new faucet due to a leak in the sprayer head of the existing one. I decided to do that job myself.

I called them around 8:00 in the morning after losing heat overnight.  I called them because they are a local business and I have used them before.  They said they would get someone here when they could, and gave me a possible 10:00-11:00 am target.  Around 11:00 am, they called again a told me to expect the technician in another half hour, which is when he arrived. After I described the problem, he saw it for himself and after just a few minutes of testing various electrical connections, he zeroed in on the problem part.  He replaced the part, tested it, and that solved the problem. He also pointed out to me visual evidence that the heat exchanger in the furnace was showing signs of age and that somewhere down the line this would probably be the thing that would require replacing the furnace.  He emphasized that there was not any rush to do this now, but to expect a problem in a few years.  There was no attempt to sell me a new furnace. After he finished and told me the charge, he guided me to a coupon on the company's web site that I used for a $25 discount right then and there.  The whole visit took maybe 20 minutes.

We have worked with them before. The plumber was punctual and efficient as usual. The appointment was screwed up - first the office sent out the plumber randomly and we were not home. After some calling - it turns out that the appointment taker made a mistake and rescheduled for later in the week. They called that day and said the plumber was sick - but after talking with him - he was out of town on a planned vacation. So the scheduler screwed up twice - once blaming me the other time blaming the plumber. That is the only negative. Pricing is average for the industry.

I used them once. They did the work and it was fine. I didn't do a comparison on the price. They came when they said they were coming.

I called for many estimates - all estimates for the above job ranged from $650 - $900 which is very high for a pump that costs about $200 and a valve that runs $20 at any home improvement store. I called the afternoon prior to have them come out for an estimate. Brian arrived on time and inspected and diagnosed the problem. Bad switch - good pump - but the pump was 13 years old - so he recommended replacement with a new check valve. 1 hour - $370 all included. He was efficient and didn't mind me hanging around to watch him work. (In the future I hope to be able to tackle this myself. ) The new check valve is wonderful - every time the pump kicked in before you go the "HUMMMMMMMMMM! THUNK! BANG!" that echoed through the house. Now you get a softer hum and a whisper quiet *thump* you can only hear standing right next to it. Everything was explained, 3 year warranty on parts. 1 hour - in and out. reasonable cost for parts and labor. Everyone was happy. What else can you ask for?
