Peter contacted me within minutes of when I sent the inquiry to Angie's List. We were able to arrange a time less than 48 hours after we made contact. He walked me through everything he found on the property. He took pictures in which he highlighted the items needing repair or replacement. Most impressive, though, he made videos of his inspection, which he narrated and posted on a website. My realtor, the seller's realtor, the contractors the sellers may hire, the sellers, and my wife and me are all looking at the same pictures. That made it worth the premium price he charged.

Was not professional, missed all the major details like mold in attic etc. He didnt even walk the attic and took pictures in one location. When i was following him when he was going through the house, he was angry. I DONT recommend this guy

I had a home inspection in July with Buss. The inspector showed up 40 minutes early, to a home I didn't own, without letting me know. There was no way for him to get in without me there. In addition, there was a problem with the water, and he was unable to figure out what it was. When I talked to the owner of the home later, they said there was simply something wrong with the water filter, and the inspector could have bypassed the filter to turn on all the water, so I paid him to not inspect any of the water systems. Find an inspector that understands how main systems work.

I was not aware that it will be someone else doing the inspection and not Pete ( Peter). The person came an hour earlier and inspected the roof by the time I got there. He did a pretty good job by inspecting everything including the attic. The problem was with communication and with Radon tests that came way late!

The inspection went as scheduled. The inspector actually arrived early to get a jump start on the exterior portion of the inspection. Inspector was very knowledgeable and professional. The access to the video provided by Buss Inspection was excellent for both the inspection and our plan to move and decorate. I will never buy another home without Buss Inspection...it provides the service needed and identifies other items intuitively for future reference and or actions that may be needed down the road. Pete Buss and his team are how these should go...because they go above and beyond (very helpful and insightful).

Pete was very responsive, professional, knowledgeable and thorough. While we are not selling our house, we wanted an inspection just to see what we need to address. Pete was great! Provided full written report and video commentary on every area as well. We are very happy with Petes service and would both use again and recommended!

Positives: was on time. Provided video report. Written report also provided with number of pictures. Responsiveness was acceptable--when we contacted with a question we received prompt response. Negatives: kept us telling us what was obvious or what we already knew such as plug point cover missing, paint peeling off etc. Don't need an inspector for this--we can do a better job ourselves for such non-technical non-critical stuff. Missed many critical aspects during the inspection. Many crucial appliances "not tested" per report- not sure why. Some structural integrity items/issues were missed completely which caused me to spend nearly $3000 later to fix after assessment by a structural engineer. When inspection was being performed, he understated the problems found but report received few days later shows them to be issues, but again not critical issues. He also understated cost to repair many of the problems identified which caused us not to factor these in much in our price negotiation with seller, but after purchase spent considerable money to fix. When asked about approximate cost to repair roof he said around $8k it cost about $14k to repair/replace. What is the use of show off such as video report when critical items and cost to fix them were not discussed with customer properly and some critical items were missed. We do not believe in show off such as video report. Instead would have appreciated a more candid and critical review with more reliable cost to fix approximations, and finding of major issues such as structural issues. This inspector was among the most expensive inspector among all the choices we had at the time but we chose him based on past reviews--we are disappointed with the service that was provided and his performance. We would not consider hiring him again.

Pete came out to a home that we are looking to purchase and did a very thorough job of going through the house, pointing out important items that we need to know about as homeowners and also items that may need to be repaired/replaced vs. just monitoring. Pete sends a very comprehensive report that also includes videos that can be sent off to contractors or repair individuals for a rough estimate. Pete was punctual, and always answered or returned calls quickly. The roof was covered with snow and ice the day the original inspection took place, so Pete came back on a different day to complete the roof inspection. Great service and would certainly use again! Pete was on time, professional and did a very detailed. The report and the video where extremely helpful. We bought a foreclosed as is home. After we had a bit of remodeling done we called Pete for an inspection on other items we made need to take care.

Provider was on-time and very personable as was his staff.  Provided a thorough cleaning/remediation of mold.  Also provided a warranty against its return for a set period of time.

We called Pete Buss to inspect our 3-bed, 2-bath split level home. We were first time homebuyers.
In short, he did an outstanding job.
He was extremely knowledgeable, approachable, and helpful. He inspected everything very thoroughly, but more importantly, was very informative on possible solutions, giving us assessments on which problems were priorities and which ones could fall under the DIY category. In either case, he'd describe the background of the problem and different ways to approach fixing it with the seller, a contractor, or doing it yourself. I never felt rushed, looked down on, or uncomfortable working with Pete and always felt comfortable asking plenty of questions.
Pete also does an outstanding job with the video reports (those are in addition to written reports, of course). They are clear and helpful when hiring a contractor down the line.
One of the things I most appreciated Pete doing was helping us estimate repair prices for various priority problems that were found. I had actually called Pete about a week after the inspection to ask him about this. Without Pete doing this with me over the phone, I would have had no idea how much to ask for seller credit. In the end, I got a decent amount of seller credit and seller repair jobs done - so in short, Pete gave me essential negotiating information during this stage.
Overall, I can't recommend Pete enough - I'm very very glad I was able to find a great inspector!

Pete was terrific. Very knowlegeable, professional, thorough and a delight to work with.. Not only did he do an excellent inspection he was very responsive to questions and follow up after the inspection. I would highly recommend him for any house inspection.

Pete came early and stayed for an hour.  He graded our crawl as normal.  He suggested a less expensive fix to our concerns than cement or Perma-seal.  Our crawl space often smells musty depending on the moisture in the ground.  We use it for storage and sometimes that musty smell wafts into the basement area.  He also suggested other items in our home that may or may not pass an inspection if we were selling our home.

Pete was punctual, professional, and very personable. Our real estate agent was particularly impressed that Pete went onto our roof. The whole inspection was recorded on video and photos were taken. This was extremely helpful in our negotiation process with the sellers. Pete also saved us a lot of trouble by identifying some electrical problems that he suggested we inspect further. It turned out the whole house needed to be rewired and luckily we caught this before closing and were able to get a large credit. Pete was also very helpful in the weeks following the inspection with follow-up questions and sauggestions for addressing some of the issues found during the inspection. Our Real Estate agent she said good inspectors are hard to find and she plans to use him as her preferred inspector. We highly recommend Pete's services!

The report was e-mailed the same day as the inspection, and was followed up with a phone call to make sure all of our questions and concerns were addressed.

I am thrilled with this provider. From initial point of contact to follow-up, Pete is one of the most professional, knowledgebe, timely service providers I have ever dealt with. He called me back promptly after i contacted hime through Angies List. He showed up on time a few times later and did a VERY thorough video and audio report (which he later uses for a written report.) Pete is a very likeable guy. He tested every outlet, opened every door and window, checked the HVAC system, plumpbing system, appliances, went into the attic. He then videos the the entire inside and outside of the home and makes comments on things he thinks need attention and comments on things that seem to be working. A very cool feature of his service is he emails you a link to all the videos and I am going to have my realtor place a link in my MLS listing so any intersted buyer gets a very in-depth review of the home, way beyond whats in some pics and a video tour that the realtor provides. He alerted me to many simple things I could address myself to make any buyer inspection go smoother.
I am convinced this will help sell my home. Well worth the price and I see this as the future for home buying and selling.
