Because a falling limb caused heavy damage to an outbuilding, we asked S&S to prune and remove other overhanging limbs on 3 trees. As a favor to 2 elderly neighbors, one w/financial problems, the other ailing after a heart attack and surgery—we asked them to cut and remove a couple of low limbs on one, and a single large limb on the other’s tree. S&S agreed to do it all for $2400. As they were getting ready to cut on the last tree they asked for payment and I gave them a check that included an additional $100 grateful for their help. After cutting it off in pieces they told us they would be back in the morning to remove it. The check was cashed that afternoon. The next day they brought a skid w/bucket to load the cuttings, but apparently determined it too difficult to maneuver on the slope. The 3-4 men could have carried the limb cuttings 40 ft up to their trailer, even cutting them smaller, and/or placing them on a tarp and dragging them, but apparently, they didn’t want to and quickly left without a word. We contacted them days later but our message was met with silence. That was weeks ago. We should have paid when the work they agreed to was finished…lesson learned.
