S & K PLUMBING CO
About us
S&K Plumbing Company was founded in 1994 by owner Jeff Killian. Starting off, Jeff was the only employee. Although the company has grown some, it is still a family owned and operated company that has been able to keep it's personal-attention roots. Originally only focusing on service work and minor sewer repairs, S&K Pluming now specializes in all applications of underground sewer and water installation, repair and replacement. This expansion has not changed their tradition in plumbing service and repair at all. From minor household plumbing repairs to major remodeling and new addition construction, S&K Plumbing has the ability and skills to do any work and solve any problem. Since the start, a focus on professional, high-quality work, with an emphasis on customer service and reliability, has helped S&K become a well known and reputable plumbing company in the Chicago suburbs. Having done work in all the surrounding villages and townships, the licensed plumbers of S&K Plumbing know state and local codes and requirements. When something breaks, we know how to fix it properly, even if it happens at 2AM. Our 24-hour answering service puts you one phone call away from a licensed plumber on call. When you call our number, you will talk to a person, not an answering machine or paging system. Only a licensed plumber takes the call for emergencies, so when disaster strikes, the person on the other end of the line will know what to do and be ready to help. ***If you have an urgent need addressed, please CALL our main number and speak with someone in our office to make sure we can address your urgent need immediately. Messages sent through email and the Angie's List message system may take a few hours to be returned.***

"Mr. [Member Name Removed], We installed and tested an ejector pump Monday 8/2/21. When you contacted us that evening about a back-up, we came out to see what happened. Upon inspection, we found the weep hole drilled in the PVC pipe from a prior installation had become clogged and not allowed air in the impeller chamber to escape, causing the pump to run but not move water. We drilled a larger weep hole higher to prevent this problem from occurring again. While testing the pump, there was an issue where the power cord interfered with the switch after a couple cycles causing a single overflow from the floor drain. We adjusted the switch and cord and ran water during which the pump cycled many times perfectly, there was never a second overflow. We then used towels you graciously provided us to soak up the water that had come up. The water that spilled out of the floor drain was water that had just been run through a shower, lavatory and empty toilet and did not contain any wastes or solids. Once we soaked up the water with the towels, we left them near where the water had been. We would have been happy to do more or aided further in cleaning up a large quantity of soaked paper towels that had been there prior to our arrival, but you did not indicate you wanted us to do so once we finished. We also informed you that the pit cover was not able to be properly sealed because a previous installation had drilled a hole in the cover to run PVC pipe from the laundry into the pit and caulked around it and the only way to properly seal the pit was to repipe the laundry line to the pit according to code. If another company "sealed" the pit without doing this, they likely put a large amount of caulk around the pipe to "seal" the pit against code. Once finished, we asked if you had any other questions or needed anything else, you stated you did not. We appreciate the opportunity to provide service to you and hope that we can open a dialogue to allow us to address any further concerns you still have, don’t hesitate to contact us any time."

"We are sorry that you are unhappy with the service you experienced with us. When you contacted our company to come to your home on 01/02/18 (Almost 2 years ago) for a frozen water service, we advised there may be difficulty in thawing the line due to extreme conditions. You still requested we come to your home to do the work, which we did. We used the electric resistance thawing machine and made small progress over that day and the following day (01/03/18). During that time, the owner of our company, Jeff, also came to your home to speak with you regarding the situation. Aside from this thawing work, you also had us fix a leak you were experiencing under your kitchen sink. Once it became apparent that more aggressive work would be required (Excavation of the exceptionally shallow water service to manually thaw it at 18 inches in depth, a full 42 inches above the regulated frost line) in order to thaw the water service line before a change in weather conditions would eventually do so, you requested no further thawing work be done. At that time (01/03/18), our owner arranged that we would deliver you the bill for the work via email the following day, expressing he would not charge the full amount of the time spent (which was over 11 hours of work, not counting his own time there) in a sign of good faith and fairness to keep good business relations with you as a customer. Unfortunately, that was the last contact we had with you. Our emails, subsequent phone calls and mailed letters (one of which was a certified mail letter which was specifically refused on an attempt to deliver it) all went completely unanswered. On multiple occasions, we expressed a will to discuss the bill and come to an agreement with you on it. But at no time were we able to contact you after repeated attempts went unanswered and as of this date (9/23/19) you bill is still unpaid. As for non-English speaking workers, we are unaware of any such impediment to any of our employees as all of them are fully able to communicate in English."

"Mr. [Member Name Removed], We appreciate you taking the time to review us! We do constantly work to keep a competitive pricing with other licensed plumbing companies. We also offer a coupon good towards all work here on Angie's List. We are always willing to discuss pricing as well if you ever have any concerns regarding it. If there is anything we can help you with further or if you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to call any time. Thanks again for your time and patronage!"
"Mr. [Member Name Removed], we appreciate you taking the time to rate us and comment about your experience with us and are very glad you are happy with the customer service and quality of work you received. Unfortunately, the cost of working with older 2-handle faucets tends to be a little higher than newer faucets because additional time and care has to be taken with these items. When we replace those stems, the faucet and other parts along with the stems must be serviced and/or replaced (washers, seats, ect.) to ensure proper operation. And just to make sure there is no confusion, that total price did not include a separate charge. We normally stock those items, but they were unavailable when our plumber first came to do the work. For that reason, we charged the service/diagnostic fee for the first visit and then deducted the entire amount when we returned with the parts to make the repair, making the total cost to you the same as if the work were done in the first visit. If you have any concerns or questions or would like to further discuss pricing or anything else, please do not hesitate to call at any time. Again, we appreciate your patronage and time and look forward to hearing from you again."
