"Thank you so much for sharing your experience with other Angie's List members. It's satisfied comments like these that keep me striving to maintain "A" ratings and the pride to offer the best values to each and every family needing "peace of mind". Please feel free to contact me regarding any further childproofing assistance."
"Thank you [member name removed] for the kind words. As we discussed prior to accepting the job, I usually don't install client provided materials because if a problem occurs due to inferior devices, the responsibility of repair comes back to haunt me. But you chose quality gates and locks and I'm happy you're pleased with the results."
Hal quickly figured out how to install the gates we had bought (which we could not see how to do without damaging the staircase). The gates work great and the installation was very professional and do not interfer with the staircase aesthetics.
We plan to have Hal do other work for us when we need it.
"Thank you Customer, happy to accommodate your unique requests. Satisfied Angie's List's members have been an integral part to the success of my company for over 20 years."
"Thank you, Customer, for the kind words. Safety proofing comes in many forms, but ultimately, peace of mind is universal. For over 20 years, I've been installing a variety devices for children, pets, or the elderly, but your situation was a little unique! Thanks again for the challenge and keeping me "on my game"!"
"Dear Members, Thank you so much for the kind words. It has always been my practice to give the client MORE than they expect. From arriving on time, to respecting the nap schedule of the babies, and cleaning up any mess I made, Home Safe Home appreciates the opportunity to be your safety source. We're a family owned company celebrating our 20th year in business by treating clients like we would expect to be treated."
"Thank you Member for appreciating the attention to detail I always try to incorporate into every installation. Often, clients tell me that " it doesn't matter what it looks like", but I remind them that they will be looking at and using these devices for what may be years to come. When a gate is properly and professionally installed, they won't be longing to take them down before they've served their purpose because they can't stand to look at them any longer! Your comments to other Angie's List clients is a tribute to the work ethics of Home Safe Home Childproofing. Thank you again."
"Thank you Member, When Home Safe Home Childproofing installs safety products in the homes of clients, we have a stake in their family, also. "Thank you for the kind words. Angie's List members know what they want, and I always try to give them professional grade products, for a fair price. Cleaning up any mess I make goes without saying . . . but thanks for noticing!"

"THANKS FOR THE TERRIFIC REPORT. IT WAS A PLEASURE MEETING AND SAFEGUARDING THE STRUCK FAMILY HOME, AND SPENDING TIME WITH MY BUDDY HOGAN THE OLD ENGLISH IN THE PROCESS! BEING A SMALL BUSINESS OWNER YOURSELF, I KNOW YOU STRIVE TO SATISFY YOUR CUSTOMERS TOO, AND PRAISE LIKE THIS IS INVALUABLE. SO, THANKS AGAIN, AND ANGIE'S LIST CLIENTS ARE THE BEST!"
"When I initially spoke with the member in early November, she said she needed three child safety gates that were easy to remove, save for the occasional visit from her grandchildren. I made an appointment with her on November 6th to see the areas of concern, then proposed educated solutions and showed her detailed photographs designed to limit access to two stairways and one formal dining area. I fully explained to her that no "ready made" gate was available to secure two of the three areas, and I would have to customize specific parts of a gate designed for similar applications. Her husband wondered why he couldn't just put a piece of plywood in front of one of the areas I was asked to evaluate. As he was leaving the room, I explained the dangers of small children seeing adults stepping over a barrier and trying to mimic their actions, not to mention the damage to the walls and woodwork if the plywood is slid out of the way for access. Before I left their home, I asked her if I should leave the photographs we discussed for her husband to see, and she declined saying she'd explain to him what they were getting. On November 10th, she called again wanting to change the location of one of the gates. Even though I could visualize the new location, I didn't ask her to just measure the distance between the walls; knowing that if the opening is the same, the gate length and cost would not change. Instead I went back to her home to discuss how the gate would work, how it would be attached, and how to remove it when not in use. I took a partial deposit at that time to order the assorted parts required to secure the two areas, and told her I'd be back to install on November 13th. At no time was a "true, custom designed, built-in type solution" mentioned. Besides, the ability to remove the gates was always a major factor. When I returned on the appointed time November 13th to install the parts, no one questioned the 15 assorted boxed parts needed to assemble the gates. I also cut, ripped, beveled, and stained two pieces of oak to mount the gate hardware at their newel posts, at no charge, so not to damage their wood. I vacuumed any wood and plaster debris, and collected all discarded packaging and garbage before showing the family how to operate, and remove the gates. The member signed off on her satisfaction with the completed project, and I was paid in full. I couldn't leave any instruction manuals for the two custom gates because they are only packaged in boxes containing a complete gate. But I sent her all the paperwork he asked for the following morning obtained from the Internet. When her husband called to express his displeasure, I made an offer to try to rectify the situation, including the removal of all three gates. I explained that I've been at their home twice already and installed the agreed upon products, not to mention the time and travel to acquire the parts, and the fact that I would end up with used/unboxed merchandise. The value of my time and professionalism were questioned, and he stated, "He's stuck with them". He was convinced that the gates would not last two weeks, but was willing to live with them if I returned $200 of his wife's money. Those terms were unacceptable to me, and he asked me one final question: "If you feel that you charged a fair price for the delivered products", I'll never hear from him again. I answered, "Yes, I did" and politely ended our conversation."
