Powder Coating Specialists

I have a steel Meadowcraft patio set - 6 chairs and a 48" round table that is 35 years old. I touched up the paint over the years but it was too far gone now and required a complete refinish. Considered buying a new set but quality, made in the USA similar sets were quite expensive and the set I have has some sentimental value as well. Power Coating Specialists came and picked up the set, refinished it and dropped it off. I'm very happy with the result - the set looks like new and the finish is really nice.

I dropped off a 30-inch table frame. Because the person there couldn’t give me a price, I called a few days later for a quote. At $190, I thought the quote was a bit steep, but I didn’t want to take another day off from work to pick up the table and find another vendor. I sent a check and a few days later called to see that it had arrived, and when the work would be started. All seemed in order until we picked up the table and learned that the price had doubled. The explanation, obtained after several e-mails, was “We always require a 50 percent deposit to start the work. The quote we give is only half the price.” Seems as if that bit of information would have been a part of one of the four conversations with two different people there. Turns out I have a very valuable table, and no plans to use this company for future projects.

They were close by which helped. They were very good at communicating and the cost was reasonable although not the cheapest because it is a labor intensive job. Jim was who I talked to. He was very informative and explained everything to me. He told me he needed to send the item out to be sandblasted. He handled all of that for me and the price was reasonable.

He was very pleasant to work with. The price was reasonable. He was very easy to work with. He had an item that I wanted to work on a budget and he was flexible on that. One of the ways that I could save money would be to not to use a custom color but to use something he's got on hand. He is very good in keeping in communication.

I had an old magazine mail slot that had discolored over the years and I could not get it back to the nice brass color it was originally. I purchased a new one and found Jim at Powder Coating Specialists through Angie's List. He explained what he could do to treat the new mail slot so that it retains its brass color for many, many years. He even came by my place of work in downtown Chicago and picked it up. Once it was done, he again came by my work place and dropped it off. Can't think of better service than that. And what a nice young man - certainly professional and very customer oriented. I will absolutely use him again when the need arises.

If you are looking for a great company with top notch customer service to do any kind of metal or iron refinishing, this is the one for you. I live in a 100+ year old house and am in the process of redoing my UGLY front porch. The iron railings on the porch are about 50 years old, and have been grossly neglected... My husband was ready to toss them and start over with wood or some other material. We didn't even know how we would go about making them look pretty since there was some rusting and rotting in several spots - I did some research online, and came across Powder Coating Specialists Inc. I called the same day and spoke with Jim. My first impression( and what most likely led me to follow up) was the time that Jim took with me on the phone as I described what I was looking to do... He even gave me some tips and pointers (in case I decided to go with another company). He asked me to take some pictures and email with dimensions. Shortly after that, he followed up with his estimate (which might I add was quite reasonable). Since I did not have a vehicle large enough to transport the rails, Jim then drove to my home to pick them up... a week later, they were done, and he actually delivered them back to me and stacked them up in my yard (porch still in process)! The work Jim and his crew did on these rails well exceeded anything I imagined. These 50 year old rails look brand new! They probably look better now than when they were first installed 50 years ago! I couldn't be happier with the outcome...What used to be a major eyesore is now the best looking thing on our front porch! We will for sure be using Powder Coating Specialists again! Thank you Jim!
