The Logistics/Organizing: I needed to move items from a studio apartment in the midwest to the east coast. I had a queen sized bed, some shelves, a couch, an arm chair, and about 20 boxes of various sizes. I worked primarily with Joe Kim, who was fabulous from my quote through delivery of items. Joe was extraordinarily knowledgeable, quick to respond to emails, and checked in with me at logical points as I progressed from a quote, to moving day, to the date of delivery of my boxes and furniture. I was extremely anxious about my cross-country move, having heard horror stories about lost and damaged items from colleagues and family members, but my moving process was quick, friendly, and so far, I have not observed any damage to my fragile items (though I am still in the process of unpacking). Joe was reassuring during the entire process. Both Joe and Lori were responsive to concerns and questions that I raised ahead of my furniture pick up regarding scheduling, truck size, and delivery estimates. My quoted estimate wound up being the amount I paidâ no surprise fees. The Move Itself: Delivery itself happened super quickly. Were it not for Labor Day and some freight elevator scheduling woes at my building, this probably would have been a Friday pickup, Monday delivery (it wound up being a Friday-Thursday pickup-delivery). For both loading and delivery, it took a little over an hour from parking the truck to finishing the job. Movers listened to my instructions and acted with care and concern. The teams led by Bladimir and two others (pick up team) and Jorge, Fernando, and Elvin (delivery team) were top notch. I bought plastic wrap and pads to wrap my furniture, but none of that wound up being necessary, as the movers were fully prepared with their own furniture pads and wrappings. I would whole heartedly recommend NVL to anyone considering a small apartment cross-country move, and would engage their services again if the need arose. Thank you to everyone who helped make my move as easy as possible.

I had a packing crew and a moving crew. The packing crew was not careful or thorough at all! The next day I went around and found drawers and cabinets still not packed including my silverware. The moving crew was wonderful and concientous. Both at the pickup sight and when delivering

I would like to thank Joe Kim for his outstanding service, he gave me guaranteed quote, I thought it was a joke because most of the moving companies I spoke to would not give me any assurance on the quote, which meant that it would go up. But Joe gave me a quote after seeing things on my cell phone, and surprisingly he stuck to it at the end. Also, in order to save me money, he helped coordinate a local storage place, which saved me tons of money. The quote Joe gave me was the best I could acquire and the only one with guarantee. The movers and truck driver were all hard working and courteous. I was quite pleased with the move. Thank you, Joe!

I moved from Arizona to Washington state. National provided a personal representative for me to talk with who worked with me from start to finish. He answered all my questions and was very patient as I had never used a mover before. I had to delay then reschedule the move by a few weeks yet my representative never flinched. He simply got it done. The moving crew was gentle with my goods yet quick at loading and had my two bedroom house and large garage loaded in four hours. Everyone was both friendly and helpful. The driver explained the receiving process and communicated the arrival date by text Unloading went well despite a problem with entry into my storage unit location. The crew found a way to get it done and unloaded without complaint. Not much impresses my now days at age 71 but National totally impressed me with this move. Definitely would recommend them.

I used National twice, on two separate moves. The service ad value in and out of Arizona was fabulous. Harry and his team at Premier Van and Storage was the local partner of National. Everything was well coordinated ad communicated, My move to and from Oregon were not so good. The communication was poor, and the van driver who picked up our stuff in Minnesota worked alone for much of the time, leaving our house at 10:30pm. Overall, we got our things on time and with little breakage. I would use National again and recommend them.

Very professional driver called me before pick up. Was early but waited for me. When the drop off driver got close, he called me the day before to arrange the time with me and was there on time. Working with Michael to set up the two moves with terrific. My problems came from the actual movers. The first movers dropped a heavy piece and damaged it. This group to our items to a location where they were transferred to another group to finish the move. More damage happened. The second move was done by a different group who picked up our things and delivered them. Again some damage. My problem with the second move was with the claim department at National Van Lines. I was overly careful about the damages I claimed (only submitting the largest items or easiest to replace), but had to negotiate to get a fair deal. BUT NVL did set me up with a great guy who could fix most of the damaged items.

All good, Truck showed up as expected on the pickup and delivery, no surprises and all went as planned. Everyone was professional and hard working. Special thanks to Sam and his team in pulling off this cross country move with no issues. Had a terrible experience with the last move with another company, damaged a lot of stuff due to carelessness. I have moved around the country quite a bit so you have to be careful when choosing a moving company and recommend if they are not on the BBB A+ rating list don't use them. Almost went with another company until I checked out the BBB review on them, nothing but horror stories so be careful choosing and I would recommend National. You do get what you pay for, watch out for low ballers.

The total price came in slightly higher than the estimate, however, I moved during peak time... gas prices were at their all time high. Three years earlier the same move cost 100 percent lower, then again, I moved in non peak time...

Paid for services I did not get. Broken, filthy, and mistreated possessions. The company was unwilling to credit me for packing cartons they said they forgot. I paid top dollar and got the worst service from any moving company that I have ever used. And I have used several. From the local loading company to the unloading in my new location. It was chaotic, unprofessional and frustrating. Besides the damaged items, it cost me three extra nights in a hotel and I had to spend nearly 2 full days in a truckstop directing the unloading from one truck into another which was totally unnecessary.

Several items were delivered elsewhere. Initial delivery arrived in a different truck. Different driver. Items were unloaded and reloaded at least once before delivery. Some boxes were marked fragile and were crushed and many items were broken. I will never use this company again.

Between their local affiliate, All Around Moving in Romulus, Michigan, and the National Van Lines themselves, they broke up five pieces of furniture, all of which had survived multiple prior moves unscathed: two six-foot bookcases, two dining chairs (of a set of four), and an antique table. The bookcases arrived in actual pieces. One leg each was broken off the two chairs, and a leaf off the dropleaf table. National/Allied also scratched, bent, or lost several other items. They took 2.5 weeks from packing to delivery, and their Michigan and their Chicago offices were in disagreement as to the actual delivery date, June 23 or 24. Last week I received an e-mail saying they could not trace the missing inventory items. I'm not sure anything is actually missing, vs. broken, because a number of the Item stickers came off in transit, and in the inventory list, several items were listed simply as "tote," which means nothing to me. When I pointed out to the van driver on delivery that a plastic watering can being unloaded was not my property, thinking that fact might be a clue to where my missing items had been delivered (to other customers whose belongings had been on the same load), he replied, "It is NOW." The one positive of this experience was that the customer service woman in Romulus was obliging and supportive. I'll add that, after I'd committed to National, a friend who had recently moved from TX to NY told me never to hire them as they had broken a lot of her belongings. My previous interstate move 8 years ago was without A SINGLE BREAKAGE/DAMAGE. I should have tried harder to find their name, and hired them, for sure.

my belongings got lost and it was almost a month and 1/2 before i got them, all the furniture was scratched chipped they didn't seem to care. I was told what they took apart they would put back together (this did not happen). The only good thing i can say is the office staff was polite when i called though did not always follow thru on there promises until I called back and asked again. I do not recommend Nation Van Lines.
