The Royal Oaks snow removal driver repeatedly strove fast and dangerously on my property this winter. Despite our complaints and warnings to be careful, they destroyed landscaping, outdoor lighting, knocked over a retaining wall, and damaged a large tree. Phone calls and correspondence to the management went unanswered. The owner promised to come out and inspect the damage. No one ever came out. The damage to my property is estimate at about $1500 to $2000.

We worked with Keith, one of the owners. He spent a lot of time with us discussing our preferences, making suggestions and redoing sketches to allow us to visualize what things would look like. This included several trips to nurseries so that we could actually see the plants and trees we were considering. None of the other contractors we contacted for quotes were as responsive when it came to developing a proposal for us. The job took nearly a week to complete and the workers were very considerate and cleaned up the yard at the end of each day. They came back several times to check on the plantings and to fertilize them. We were very happy with the final look of the project. They were competitive on price and while we may have been able to spend less we think we got good value for the money.

This review is based on dealings with Royal Oaks since the installation was finished (approximately 6-8 weeks after and to date) and the grades are based on this time period.
This is a follow-up report. Altho the initial work done by Royal Oaks was satisfactory, I am not at all pleased with follow-up due to a arbovitae that died approximately 6 weeks after installation. I called and Bob came out, check out the arbovitae (along with other annual plants and bushes that Royal He then replaced the arbovitae about a week later. As you know, last summer was extremely hot and I watered religiously, then was called out of town. When I returned, one part of the installation hadn't been watered and I called to see if they could come out to see if that particular installation would die. Then this spring, another of the 3 arbovitae that was planted died, and the second one was in its death throes. I e-mailed Royal Oaks, asked where they got their stock as I couldn't understand why they were dying, and the response I got was that it was my "incompentency" that caused the problem and then they sent me a bill for $100 for the first arbovitae that they replaced. I called and told them that any reputable landscaper warranties their products for at least 1 season and I would not pay. I was told in a later call that the charge was for Bob's time, but that was not listed on the statement. I thought the matter was over, but yesterday I received another bill for $100. And the second of the 3 arbovitae is now dead and the original replacement is dying. The last correspondence had with them, May 8, 2014, they said that they would replace the arbovitae and I am still waiting for contact. Trying to blame the customer, and telling untruths about the status of the plants is unacceptable for a reputable company. I DEFINITELY WOULD NOT USE THEM AGAIN AND WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE. WORD OF MOUTH MEANS A LOT.!

"We are sorry she feels so strongly and we are at a loss on how to rectify the situation. Clearly in her detailed accounting she didn't water the plant causing the problem in the first place. We replaced the plant last year and heavily watered and fertilized everything because many plants were in serious distress because they were so dry (lack of water during the drought). As far as the problem this year with the other plant we can only assume the very hard winter may have contributed to the problem. Our May email stated we would come out, again, and replace the 3 plants and she should let us know when to come. We NEVER HEARD BACK FROM HER and now she states she doesn't want them replaced so I wonder what she wants? The $100 has already been credited."

Excellent!!! We love Royal Oaks.
Keith was very attentive to our every question and/or concern. He listened to us but also gave his input. In the end we got more than we could have ever expected. Of course you expect the owner of the company to be nice and professional but everyone that worked on the job was great. They respected my property and my neighbors. This was a big job for us and Keith was in constant communication with us. When we called he answered or returned our call right away.
In one instance they build a seat wall next to the fountain and when I arrived home I thought the wall was too tall in a certain area. I called Keith to ask him to stop by. Without me disclosing my concern about the seat wall, he seen it and started removing bricks. "This is too tall" he said. Everything is beautiful and we get so many compliments from everyone.
It's nice to come home and see all the beautiful updated landscaping. We finally moved from the 80's landscaping we had before.

The project went very well. Bob was very professional. I was very pleased with our first contact when Bob came to the house to see what I wanted done. He had several additional suggestions which I agreed with. When he and his crew arrived in the a.m., they went right to work, did their jobs very professionally and left no unwanted debris behind. Everything was done extremely well. Bob was also there and supervised. I had several questions during the job and my questions were always answered politely. I definitely would recommend Royal Oaks to anyone needing this type of work.

Keith came to our home to discuss what we wanted to do. He is very knowledgeable about plants, soil and light/water requirements. He also took in to consideration my preferences when choosing plants. He left a brochure with the paver choices for us to consider. He was very prompt in emailing us an estimate, which was broken down for us to choose what work we wanted to do.
His work crew was very conscientious to park in a way that our curved street, which gets school traffic in the morning and afternoon, was not blocked or hazardous. The workmen took care to not damage or disturb the plantings and grass that already was in place. They cleaned up daily.
The work was done in a timely fashion. Keith was always prompt to answer any follow up questions I had.
The plants seem to be a good size and very healthy. Royal Oaks did confirm that they are guaranteed for a year from installation. The areas around the plants were mulched and a bio stimulant was added to encourage their growth.
The patio and fire pit are beautiful. The pavers and blocks were as portrayed in the brochure. The design the pavers are laid in is very pleasing. The area around the edge of the patio was sodded. The whole area is very inviting.
Royal Oaks did honor the Angie's List coupon that I found online after I had contacted them.

Overall it went very well. The treatment took about an hour, but would have taken less time if I hadn't talked to the landscaper about other possible projects for my yard. Start to finish? Entirely satisfactory.

.We have a large lot surrounded by woods. Consequently we have difficulty with weeds, mold and moles. Royal Oaks has been treating our lawn for these problems for over 10 years. The last treatment was in August and the technician discovered we had dollar spot in the front and specifically treated that area. We no longer have a problem with moles and the lawn is full, green and weed free.
We have been very pleased with this company and will continue using them.

There was a lot of landscaping jobs in the bid and I did see some of them a little but high. But also it was more of the timing issue. We were pregnant for twins at that time. It was a lot going on and I could not deal with them. I did have them out and I thought the guy was responsive and spent time with me. He came out in a timely manner. He also gave me some good ideas. Some of the work we decided we could do on our own we did. I do not have any bad to say. I know a couple of things were high but honestly I did not have any other bids for the same work so I did not have anything to compare it to. They he was very prompt and very clear language. It was all written in line items and could sign off on every specific job and clear price. I was quite pleased with them. I am opened to give them an opportunity.

We bought a house where the previous owners were using Royal Oak for lawn fertilization. They had prepaid for the year so we are continuing to get their service. I do plan on renewing for the upcoming year. They are prompt and do their job quickly and efficiently.I also had Kevin, one of the owners come out to give an estimate on some other landscaping services. He was very friendly, professional and extremely knowledgeable. His office followed up on all questions regarding bids etc. Even though I ultimately chose not to use them, I would consider using them in the future for other services.

The result is terrible - we were the last stop of the day and the Rolyal Oaks crew wanted to finish ASAP.- I should have rescheduled.

Most of the areas that they worked on stll don't have grass growing. The pulverised top soil was thrown around along with the clumps of non-pulverizerd top soil. Top soil was applied to a lot of areas that didn't need it, so the good grass underneath died.
They came out a week after the initial visit and threw down more top soil on some areas - when in doubt lay down some top soil.

We just spent $600 to put in sod where the grass hasn't grown back.

I contacted Royal Oaks by phone and they dispatched Keith Morlock to look at my job that very day. Keith was helpful with his input and proposed a good solution when I expressed concerns about weeds growing in between the brick paver joints. Keith finalized a proposal the next day and was able to complete the work under a tight schedule to accommodate a yard party that we were hosting the following weekend.

Worked with Keith Morlock at Royal Oaks to provide the estimate of services. The first and most important was the remove of a wind damaged pear tree and a 30' pine tree. The crew came within an hour of the scheduled window which was acceptable and asked for a brief walk-around of the areas. Pointed out that they would dig around to find an existing uplight so as not to damage the underground cabling as well as the sprinkler heads. Because these systems had been put in more than a decade ago, I couldn't vouch for where the lines (underground) went or were connected. The foreman on duty reverse engineered the paths and his crew dug around the areas perfectly without harm. Tree and pine were chainsawed down without issue and the stumps ground down to about 16-18" below the surface of the topsoil. For the pine this is ok, but we'll see if there's any issue for the depth of the pear tree upon upcoming planting in that same space. The crew cleaned-up, raked and swept the areas before leaving and frankly were gone before we could say thanks and comment on the great job. Very professional, respectful and conscientious workers. The only thing that was a surprise was the contract didn't call out the need to call Julie. But after talking with Keith (he offered to), but I took care of that directly (via online form) with Julie and scheduled the removal and disposal the next day after Julie marked all utilities. I would strongly advise to call Julie for any / all outside digging projects no matter how simple or straightforward it looks. This is an easy and free insurance policy.

They did the work at my Dad's house. They did a great job. No one was there. They were at the site unseen. They did a really good job. They were very responsive. They did exactly what they said they were going to do, and the price was reasonable. Their price was in the middle.

I think he is very conscientious and very personable. I think his prices are too high and I think he tries to push some services that a person may or may not really need. Overall, I’ve had a positive experience. He’s given me free advice on a number of occasions. He is very reliable and if he says he is coming out, he’ll be there. He is a pretty bright guy but I don’t think he has formal training in horticulture. He is a very talented guy but sometimes I get the feeling that he doesn’t know enough about certain areas. I will use him again depending on the price.

Bob is the president. He arrived promptly, or if unable, called to reschedule. He completed the work consciously and in a manner stated in the contract. The grass he planted grew very well, though the varieties appear to be mixed and not quite as good as hoped for. The perimeter flower and shrub beds were completed artistically and in a timely manner.
