We had a big problem on our hands when my sister died. She was an animal hoarder and her house was a mess from cat urine and feces. She was also a material hoarder and her house was littered with a lifelong collection of trash and clutter. I did not have the financial resources or the physical ability to do the trash removal, cleanup, and rehab necessary to sell her house on the open market. David Gillette from HomeVestors was a life saver. His offer came in the form of a pretty standard thirty day real-estate contract. HomeVestors even said that they would pay for all closing expenses, including the title search and the land survey. My lawyer gave his approval. Working with Dave after signing the contract was a pleasurable experience. Dave is well organized and very professional. He immediately met with the proper village officials and is working well with them to accept responsibility for rehabbing the property. He brought in subcontractors to look at the property for: waste removal, cleanup, demolition, reconstruction, and remodeling within a week after my signing the sales contract.
The closing went without a hitch. HomeVestors paid all closing costs as promised. I only had to pay the standard property taxes out of the proceeds of the sale. I am sure he will do a fine job remaking my departed sister?s home into one that others will enjoy and the community will be proud of.
Of course David Gillette and HomeVestors is also in the business of selling homes they rehab and remodel and based on my experience with Dave, they probably have some nice houses for sale at reasonable prices.
