I went by Impressive's warehouse and spoke with Robert about some demo ceiling speakers. We agreed that he would install a pair of ceiling speakers and hook them up to my receiver for a flat fee of $350 parts and labor. Although this was a small project, he hustled to get me on the calendar before Christmas, showed up with his crew and got the job done when he promised, hooked up the receiver and confirmed that everything was working well before leaving.
I didn't get competitive bids, though I feel that I got a good deal. My quick look through my favorite internet vendors yielded that I would probably pay at least $100 per speaker for any ceiling speakers I felt would be satisfactory. The demo speakers I had installed were a higher quality than I would have purchased new on my own, and having spent some time in my attic for other projects, the amount I spent total for parts and labor felt like a bargain.
