They were fabulous - can't say enough about the team. On-time & on-budget (always a win), but respectful of our home and family. Not only were they were professional, knowledgeable and experienced, they were true craftsman - a rare find these days. Roman and Harry even took time to teach me a few things for future DIY projects. I would 100% recommend them!

Jim's team was excellent. They were trustworthy, communicative, and did a great job on the work. Brian, the project manager, was always helpful and responsive, keeping us up to date and coordinating all the work that needed to be done. I was working from home and felt extremely comfortable having the crew in and out of the house for the weeks of the project. Would definitely recommend for any upcoming work you have!

From beginning to end, the kitchen remodel went great!!! Working with Jim and Brian and their crew was a pleasure and informative. They were able to manage a few changes and keep a good workflow. One of the many benefits to working with Independent Remodeling is we were able to choose our cabinets and countertops with them. They have a great selection and made that part of the project easy! We will definitely have them back for our next project!!

We hired Independent Remodeling for a full home renovation including kitchen, bathrooms, and flooring. Jim was responsive from the very beginning and worked with us on our tight timeline -- they were hired in August and we were able to move in by the end of November. Brian was our project manager and he was onsite each and every step of the way to make sure that we were on track. All of their construction teams are talented, kind, and professional, especially Tony and Melo. We live in a high rise building and they took care of all the logistics with management re: regulations, elevators, and disposal. Everyone followed COVID protocols and wore masks throughout the entire process. IR made sure that we were 100% happy with our new home and they certainly delivered! Would strongly recommend and hire again.

Independent Remodeling did an amazing job renovating the entire main floor of our new home! This was our first time renovating a home so we weren’t sure what to expect. When my husband and I first met with Jim, the owner, he listened carefully to exactly what we wanted to do in each of the rooms. He suggested different design ideas and was so knowledgeable about all the possibilities that were available to us. The pace at which the project got done was astonishing! Jim’s team was always on time, fast and delivered high quality work. My husband and I are so happy with the outcome of everything-the house looks better than we had initially pictured it to be! We will definitely be using them again for future projects!

It was an absolute pleasure working with Dave, Peter, Roman, Harry, Brian, and Ismael of Independent Remodeling! They were always prompt, professional, and did masterful work on the myriad of projects we needed done for our house. My wife and I could not be happier with the results and would absolutely hire them again for any other remodeling needs we might have in the future. They not only got the work done beautifully and in a timely manner, but also went above and beyond the original plans for our house. It was a true joy working with craftsman of this caliber and I would highly recommend Independent Remodeling to anyone needing work done to their home!

It went quite well. They were professional, did everything they said they would. They were great! We will definitely use them again.

Exceedingly well. Finished product surpassed my high expectations. I fully anticipated some "surprises" when they opened the walls of a 100-year-old building. Jim, Brian, and co. dealt with it very professionally, fixing electrical and plumbing work where necessary and getting the project back on track quickly. Very minimal disruption to our daily routine (especially considering it was our only bathroom). What was the worst part of our condo is now by far the best room in the house! I would definitely hire them again.

It went excellent. They were just prompt with their work. Their prices were right on the estimate. They did a fantastic job. They were clean with their work. When he told me when he was going to be there, he was there right on time. That tells you how great he is.

They were very reliable which was very big for me. They came when they said they were going to be here and worked a full day. They were very professional and kept communication lines open.

It turned out well. It is a good amount for the job. They have good customer service. They listened to what I wanted with the job and the work has been outstanding.

I interviewed about 20-40 contractors, plumbers, and anyone I could
think of in the field of general remodeling and especially basement
waterproofing. I own a rental that's in an area where during heavy
rains, water comes up in the basement. There were other changes I wanted
to make to the house other than the plumbing and waterproofing. I
really wish I could give them an A +++ all around. The one thing that
stops me from doing that, is that I missed one payment, after nearly a
year and a half of dealing with this company and paying on time, I
missed one bill, and it was actually the post masters fault, the invoice
was never delivered. After a month of the bill going un-paid, I
received a very rude email from the owner/operator. I responded, though
due a short hospitalization my email took time to reach him, let me also
add that he knew how to get ahold of my then fiance whom he knew was
able to speak on my behalf, I responded and told him I hadn't received
the invoice but would get it to him quickly, I included in my email how
disappointed I was in his efforts to contact me regarding payment as
well as the language and tone of his email to me.
The bill was for a few hundred bucks, I'd already spent over 20k with his firm.
I
paid the invoice of course as soon as I was made aware of it being
late. The man I had been dealing with the entire time, the
owner/operator, refused to apologize to me at all for the harsh language
and general rudeness of his email to me regarding the late bill. Also
he did not make any attempt to call me to alert me of the over due bill,
we had been working together long enough for him to know that not
paying my bills was incredibly uncharacteristic of myself as a client.
I
will say that when I explained to the entire crew that I wanted my
rentals basement to be water proof, including dura rock up the walls
four and a half feet, as well as a membrane inside the wall to skirt to
wall and flooring preventing water from entering the membrane and laying
tile on the floor and up the walls as opposed to using wooden
baseboards. They followed that to a T as far as I know and they worked
with my insurance agency to ensure that I got the best rebate possible.
They also helped me deal with the drainage. The work was wonderful and
thus far the property has not taken on any water since the remodel.
I
would love the company except that I had brought them multiple accounts
and the way they handled a bill that was insignificant in the scheme of
things.
The email and willingness, as welll as understanding regarding the late payment is what makes me give them such a harsh grade.

They were the most price competitive. They were great. The only problem was they are not specifically licensed in Evanston so we had to wait for them to get the license. They painted the back porches.

Estimate and references were provided promptly. Work began as scheduled with minimal disruption and was completed within timeframe and budget. Overall a very good experience.

It all started with me noticing a little softness on the back side of the toilet, my worst fear then happened when the toilet was pulled off that the subflooring had been complete rotted and saturated with water. I am in a 1950's house so these things tend happen often, however, with a 2 year old and a newborn, I don't have the time to do the work the house needs. I have been referred to Independent Remodeling through my sister, so I decided to give them a call. Not only was Jim very prompt in returning my call (on a sunday), he was also very helpful in giving me many options to deal with, along with not being pushy at all. So now for the work that was done in the bathroom, Jim sent two guys over the next day on Monday, the men that showed up were very polite and professional a plus seeing as how they had to deal with my wife and kids there while I was at work. All the cutting was done in the garage to keep the dust down the best they could, and they were very patient with my 2yr old being a little nosey. The finished product of the job was absolutely IMPECCABLE! The cuts around the tub were done with precision, the toilet was set great as well as the vanity. What a great experience I have had with the employee's as well as Jim. He was prompt, courteous, and level of quality of work was excellent! HIGHLY recommending this company to friends and will soon be using him for the kitchen remodel in the next few weeks, will keep you posted!!!
