It went great.  It took a while to get fixed (almost 2 months) but I told them I was not in a rush.  Also, the machine is 20 years old and parts are hard to find. The machine is working great.

I had a horrible experience with this business.  I dropped off my espresso machine for repair in January.  One of the employees called me 3 weeks later and told me that the repair would cost $300.  I authorized the repair.  Another 4 weeks later after I called multiple times, the same man called to say they made a mistake and the repairs will be $400 and the parts are on back order.  At that point I tell him NOT to proceed with repair and that I would like an e-mail detailing all of the costs/expenses so that I know they won't change the estimate and an idea of when the part will be in.  One week later, I get an e-mail from David Dimbert that states the machine is basically fixed, that the cost for most of the repair will be $350 and that they detected another problem (a crack in the display they hadn't seen before) and that will be another $100 (total of $450) to repair.  When I go to the store to get my machine, there is a defect in the display that can be seen with the machine unplugged that was NOT THERE when I dropped it off.  I paid the $350 to get my machine back and in return I got a new problem with the machine.  Plus, David was totally rude and unprofessional on the phone (twice).  Stay away from this business!!
Response from THE EXPRESSO SHOPPE

"We're sorry that The member left dissatisfied and told her so while she was here. Our goal is always customer satisfaction. The member's home espresso machine arrived for repair broken; a water leak had caused a short-circuit inside the machine and damaged the machine's main (computer) control board - it would not power on. Per the member's approval we replaced the control board - and discovered the problem with stuck pixels on the display. Once we identified the problem with the display, which is unsightly, but allows the machine to function, a technician called to explain the problem. I followed up with an email to explain this problem and finally we spoke on the phone. Yes, this additional part raised the total repair estimate, but despite our offer to waive labor fees and replace the display for a "parts only" charge, the member remained dissatisfied and elected to not replace the display component. We have been repairing espresso machines for many years and repair many machines each year. Unfortunately, the folks who ARE happy with their repairs keep it to themselves."

We took our Gaggia in to be repaired in late November/early December. This shop is the only Gaggia authorized repair shop in Chicagoland. They told us it needed a new boiler. Every week we called, no boilers available, next week. They were on order from Italy. This went on until we finally got back from a two week vacation and my husband called Gaggia directly and located the boilers in the US while he was at the shop. He got one routed to the Bensenville repair shop. Today he picked up the "repaired" expresso machine. Got home and found they had lost the base to the unit that levels and rotates it. My husband said that one of the times he was there, people were screaming at the owners and the police had to be called. This place ruined our expensive machine. Gaggia should be ashamed for listing them as an authorized repair shop. We want Expresso Shoppe to replace our base at their expense.

Repairs were done well, and the problem was solved. We had to wait quite a while to have the new part arrive and to have the work done, but this was not unexpected. Repair was also rather expensive, but this was also not a surprise.
