The pricing is extremely fair for the quality, attention and speed with which Jan's and his team work. For all the large, important phases, Jan is always present, sometimes doing the work himself. As the project winds down, you may have his first assistant, Michael who is a great guy and hard worker. Actually, everyone Jan brings in is great at what they do-he is totally in charge of them and you don't feel you are being left alone to manage sub contractors. Special mention should go to the electrician, plumber and the amazing work done by the hardwood floor team. The floors are incredibly well done for the cost, and I was given a lot of help and patience in this area. Thanks for convincing me the color would turn out great, Jan even when I was unsure. You were right! Jan will coordinate everything- who comes in when, and what decisions you need to have made at what time. For example, he'll tell you when to have appliances, when to pick out cabinets, get your tile, etc. There is some leg work involved with this, but Jan can make some recommendations on where to find all the things you'll need.
I think the three most important things to know about Hi-Teq and Jan are: One, because they stay somewhat small, there is a higher level of personal attention-Jan can be reached at all times, and is great about texting, sending photos and emailing.
Two, he is a trustworthy, honest, hardworking guy, who wont' tell you what you want to hear. He always strives to do things the and quot;right wayand quot;. He doesn't cut corners, and believe me, I would know. Many times, I argued with Jan, and found out he was right once I understood what was going on. He takes the time to explain things to you, which is difficult if you don't know anything about contract work or construction, but he tries. From the smallest things, like extra insulation foam inside my walls around electrical sockets (he explained that many companies skip this kind of thing), to personally expertly tiling my kitchen and baths, he always checked in with me before making design decisions.
Three, he will not abandon you when the job is technically done. He will fix errors and come back if things he was responsible for have a problem.
