I have a 49 year old Kenmore sewing machine. This machine has served its purpose well from making draperies, clothes and costumes for my now grown children. A few weeks ago, it froze and wouldn't work. My husband's suggestion was to get a new sewing machine. Before giving up on my nostalgic sewing machine, I turned to Angie's List and found Fabrics ETC in Bensenville. I asked if it was hopeless to even think that a 49 year old sewing machine could be repaired. They told me that they have a Repairman that would take a look at it. We packed up the old machine and brought it in. About a week later, I was pleasantly surprised that my sewing machine just needed a little TLC and cleaning. I will be sure to patronize Sewing ETC for all my sewing needs

Staff was friendly and supportive - readily accepted my repair and advised me of the $30 bench fee for any work to be done - which I thought was very fair.  As a bonus this is clearly a shop where the staff are dedicated to sewing - they sell fabric, notions, and offer many classes.  If I lived closer I'd be there all the time!  As it is, I'm very grateful for their gracious and helpful service.

Store is huge, impeccably clean and wonderfully hung with all manner of quilts and other sewn goodies. Aisles are wide and easily negotiable for those of us who need help - I use a walker and never felt like I was going to bump into anything nor be in anyone's way... NOT something easily said for other fabric stores! Wheelchairs and other such chariots would have an easy time of it in this emporium! Hooray!
Counter help was friendly, knowledgeable and eager to help; fetched my machine from the car with a smile and said next time to let them know I was coming with a phone call and they would have someone meet me at the door! Is this really true.. .can it be that such an establishment exists? Yes, it does.
Machine was done when promised, an extra part that was needed for minor repair was called and cleared with me prior to installation and the service tech has tons of training from the machine manufacturer, to top it all off!

It's a fabric store. It's a one stop store. My experience was very good. They work on very expensive machines. Everything worked well after they took care of it. If you have any issues, you can take it back to them and they will look at it. When you take it in, they will give you a time when it will be fished. It can be several days up to a couple weeks.
