DO NOT use Abbott. They charged $367 for 45 minute rodding, that Splash, Rocket, or Scottish plumbers would have charged 200-$250. Told owner I was furloughed and asked to charge more in line with what others charge. She said NO, she pays her bills (lucky she's earning money). I used because my bldg mgr said they know the building. If they overcharge an individual so much, imagine for a building. Rude, condescending employees who don't allow you to speak before interrupting. 15$ fuel, 9$ paper towels, $288 labor, $55 rodding machine.

I've hired Abbott twice as they were recommended by my condo association. The first time I hired them to replace a water heater, put in piping to install a washer-dryer and replace the toilet with a high-flow model. The over-the-phone estimate was for $2,200.
They came to do the work and after four hours called to say that they now realize the piping in the building, which is very old, wasn't compatible with what they had there so to install the piping for the washer-dryer it would cost six times the amount quoted. The toilet was also about six times what they said it'd be. I told them to replace the water heater and forget the other two projects as I wasn't going to spend $12,000 to be able to put in a washer-dryer and a new toilet. When I got home there was a big hole in the drywall in my closet where the washer-dryer was set to go and nothing was cleaned up.
I received a bill later and it was for $2,200, the original amount quoted. I refused to pay that considering all they did was install a water heater, something I could've had done for less than $1,000. I eventually settled with them for $1,200, which was still ridiculously high.

Fast-forward five years and I was living abroad when my renter called in a panic saying there was water leaking inside the bathroom wall. I was in a bit of a bind as I was overseas and couldn't very well call out for estimates, so against my better judgment I called Abbott. Mistake. I told them what needed to be done and the original quote was ``about $1,500'' over the phone. They said they'd send someone out to look at it.
To their credit, I never did see a written and signed estimate, which was my fault.
But anyway ... I told them I needed the tile taken off the wall, mold removed from inside the wall, the pipes fixed and drywall replaced and the tile redone. The plumbers took more than a week to get out there because of some coordination problems with the renter, they said, but did what I thought was the full job. Then, magically, the sink broke literally moments after the plumber left the condo and he had to be recalled to install new piping and fixtures in the bathroom sink! What a coincidence, and phew, lucky he was still in the neighborhood.
I received a bill via email for about $2,500. Considering they had to remove an entire wall, clean it all up and then replace and retile it, I didn't think it was that bad. Oh and the sink that magically broke when the plumber was there.
The renter said they didn't do a very good job. I didn't believe her until I returned from overseas six months later to find that there was still mold on the wall, the shower head was not secured to the wall and the grouting around the base of the tub where it meets the tile was never done or was done so shoddily that it needs to be redone.
They are tellling me that they did the work for which I hired them, that they opened ``some'' of the wall, replaced the pipes, cleaned up what mold was nearby and closed it back up. In other words, for $2,500 they took off six to 10 pieces of tile, replaced two pipes in the wall, sprayed some anti-mold spray and then closed it up. For $2,500. That's steep by anybody's standards.
Bottom line: I now have to have everything they did in the bathtub completely redone. I need someone to tear out the wall, demold everything inside or just replace the drywall, and then replace it all, which is what I'd hired them to do.
Since it was six months ago, they've questioned why I didn't call sooner (I was still overseas and recently returned) and threatened to send me to a collection agency (after my insurance company refused to pay), basically holding my credit hostage, and refuse to believe that the work they did was substandard even though I've taken photos to show them what's going on. In fact, the owner, with whom I talked two weeks ago to try to resolve this, hasn't called me back despite saying she would.

Very good, professional, but expensive. I recently had another plumber do some work (less $), and he was unable to figure out why the water pressure was so low. Even though Abbott had done their work over a year earlier, they sent a guy out to take a look and trouble-shoot, at no expense to me. They made recommendations to my building engineer and the problem was resolved. That's professionalism!
