The work looks professional. I am pleased with the cost, especially for the high quality of work. I already have plans for hiring them again.
"[Removed member name] was a pleasure to work with and we appreciate the favorable review. Thank you for you business! The PPD Team"
I consider this firm to be a quality, high class operation. High quality work at a competitive price. I would highly recommend them.
Pros:
- reasonable quote
- friendly estimator, office manager, and painters
Cons:
- terrible communication and scheduling (can't emphasize this enough)
- sloppy workmanship
Contract was signed July 22. Deposit was paid within a few days afterward. Scheduling the job was difficult to say the least. I left numerous messages for Scott, the "scheduler", over a three week period - both on his voice mail and directly with the office manager. None were returned. I fortunately didn't need the job finished right away, but I had just wanted it put on the schedule. Some definitive time frame whether it be two weeks, three, or even later. Only after requesting my deposit back and cancellation of the job did someone get back to me, and I got my job scheduled.
Once started, the job took more than the originally estimated two to three days. Weather of course was a factor for an exterior painting job. But a crew was not sent on some obviously clear days. Also, sending out a one-man crew on several days for a site that requires climbing up tall extension ladders contributed to the slow progress (and compromised the painter's safety). The other issue was the lack of communication about if/when a crew was coming out to the job. I would only find out only after inquiring mid-morning. They finished the job on September 16 - almost two months later.
The quality of the painting work was poor. They did not clean window sills of dirt on/next to painted areas and they didn't scrape much - only some sanding. (The windows hadn't been painted in awhile and the paint was in poor shape.) The painters were also sloppy in their work with lots of paint "outside the lines" - not much care to avoid getting paint on interior parts of the windows while open to paint them. The two coats of white paint did not cover the old dark red color. I specifically asked about this possibility during the estimate and was assured it wouldn't be a problem. When asked about it after they completed the job, they said an additional cost was necessary.
Some suggestions: Ask to schedule the job with the deposit and to have full crew work consecutive days until the job is finished as weather permits.
To their credit , the owner did offer to have his crews "make things right" after I told them of all these issues. But I had had enough at this point after dealing with this company for two months for this one job and I declined.
