MACON CONCRETE CONSTRUCTION

He came the same day I called and gave a detailed written estimate. They started the job a couple weeks later. He was prompt, courteous and answered all my questions. He even installed additional drainage to make sure there was no standing water on the side of our house.

• They were receptive to my ideas for how to change the sidewalk run and gave professional advise on how to achieve my ideas
• My good experience with Macon Construction lead me to add a 4' by 4' pad at the rear stairs and a repair to my garage floor to the job
• All of the work at my home was done with high quality of workmanship. At completion, the area was cleaned up and all debris removed. A quality job done at a reasonable price.

Frank came out to my house the day that I called him to leave an estimate.  He answered every question that I had, and always promptly returned my phone calls.  I received a few estimates that were slightly less as far as cost, but went with Macon because of Frank's responsiveness.  Once the weather allowed, he began work and finished in a few days.  I am very pleased with the reults.  The new concrete looks great.

I was very pleased with his professionalism and his workmanship. He was where he said he was going to be, when he said he was going to be there. He did what and how he said he would do things. There were no surprises. I would hire him again.

Excellent. Arrived when said and provided a reasonable estimate. Began work when scheduled. Only delay was due to rainy weather. They accommodated us when we had to delay start date due to event scheduled at home. Wheelbarrowed concrete to garage and walk so heavy truck was not on our driveway. Finished and sealed garage floor and walk as requested. Excellent job overall at a reasonable cost. Would definately use them again.

We changed the work order to limit the size of the driveway and eliminate the walkway because we decided we would use paving stones. They demolished the steps in the beginning of the job. When we discovered we needed a banister wall we had to post pond the completion of the steps. We informed Macon as soon as we decided to do this and spent some time obtaining estimates to repair the wall. During this time we had a lightening strike on the house that had to be repaired which Macon declined to add to the work order because they did not have the competence to do the work. After we had the wall repaired Frank Jelinek decided to leave town according to his explanation. He did not inform us he was leaving town. I attempted to contact Mr. Jelinek several times, but he did not return my call until two or three weeks after the steps had been completed. When we did discuss the job, Mr. Jelinek informed me that he needed an additional $300.00 and when I attempted to obtain additional information as to why, he was no longer interested in completing the job. Subsequent to that conversation, I attempted to contact Mr. Jelinek again to negotiate a contract to get the steps done. He has not returned the call and have dismissed Macon from the job and had to go to someone else.

We worked with Frank to secure a quote for the work we needed complete. Frank was very responsive and talked with us on numerous occasions to answer our questions. He was honest and fair with his pricing and only sold us what he felt we needed to do. My neighbor secured the quote. I started working with Frank and his team when he came on site. At the last minute we changed a portion of the job. Frank was so flexible with our changes and anything we asked him about, he was so extremely helpful. He was fair about the price, did very good work and was flexible. Really, when you are getting this big of a job done, you want to make sure it gets done right. I had the utmost confidence in them and their work. They are a small business with good ethics. Also, when the concrete guy brought the concrete we were just chatting and he mentioned to me, that he had so much respect for Frank and he loved working with him. He said he had been working with Frank for like 30-45 years-no joke! Right there says a lot about him as well; that he has worked with someone for so long and that this guy has the utmost respect for him. If I could, I would give him much higher than an A+ and I don't hand out As lightly!

Frank came to give an estimate in the fall, and came back to do the work as promised in the spring. He did exactly what he said he would do, and the work was done very quickly. Since it was going to rain the day the concrete was poured, he had his crew cover the walks with plastic and wood framing to protect them. Beautiful job. I am very pleased.

We needed to replace cracked and crumbling front steps. Frank was very prompt and helpful. They did a great job in removing the old stairs and even took away concrete from a previous demolition project. We were very happy with the overall service we received from Frank and Mason Concrete.

It went great. Frank came out to provide an estimate 2 days after the first call. When we decide to go with them he said it would be about 2 weeks before he could start and that he would call when he had a better idea of the specific day. I always get a little nervous when someone says this but within two weeks he called to set up the specific day and performed the job as scheduled. Price was good and I thought quality was great. My garage floor is very smooth and the apron is the best on the block with nice straight lines.

They were very nice and courteous. They had the lowest price and were informative about the work. The work however didn't hold up and they came back the next day at no charge to fix problem spots.

We were extremely impressed by the service from the entire time. All calls were promptly returned, and the owner was there working every single day. Frank was extremely prompt, as was the rest of the work crew. The work was done within one week and all tasks were completed within the timeframe Frank predicted. We are extremely happy with the driveway and the beautiful job that Macon did!

Frank came out himself for estimate. A few weeks later (necessitated by waiting for a permit) Frank and a small crew came out and broke up the old stairs and sidewalk and replaced them. The work was done cleanly, everything was picked up and put away every day, all debris was hauled off site, and we were pleased with Macon's professionalism. Later, the Village Inspector dropped by and was quite pleased. So are we and we would recommend Frank and would consider using him again.

Frank was prompt in returning phone calls as well as being at the house when he promised for an estimate. They gave us an approximate start date and stuck to it. They started the job and were done within 3 days or so, including village inspections. Frank and his crew were professional and friendly. We have recommended him to others already as well and would hire him again for any concrete job.

They did a good job. It was fast, the quality of work was good, and it was reasonably priced.

Overall we were very please with the work done by Macon Concrete and Construction. We chose them because their bid was fair for the work to be done and they are licensed to work in Oak Park. Other we had approach were not licensed to work in Oak Park or were a lot more expensive. When we first contacted Frank he indicated that the work would most likely be done in 3 weeks depending on the weather. I did call him twice during the 3 week period to find out when he would be coming and he did follow up. Once they started the work they were able to get everything done in a three day time period. Frank took time to ask us questions to make sure that we understood what they were going to do and that we really wanted things the way they had been designed. The final result was very good and I would hire them again to do concrete work.

After months of being given the run around by other contractors, Macon came out, gave us a timely quote, responded to our phone calls, and completed the work at our house quickly and when they said they would. Although our job was small, they gave us prompt service and were very responsive.

Frank and his workers were extremely professional. They were neat and quick. We had a cat step on the concrete after Frank and crew had just poured it. There were foot prints all over. My husband called Frank and he was back at our house within the hour to fix it. They were the most reasonable company we interviewed. I would recommend them in a second.

The owner, Frank, was very pleasant to work with. He responded promptly to phone calls, and kept us updated on when the job would start and how the job was progressing once work started. Frank and his workers arrived very early to begin work each day. The sidewalk turned out very nice. Also, Frank's price was much more reasonable than the other two contractors we solicited bids from. We would use this company again.

FRANK WAS WONDERFUL TO WORK WITH, EASY TO TALK TO AND VERY DILIGENT. HE KEPT US INFORMED BEFORE AND DURING THE JOB. OUR ENTRANCE IS SLIGHTLY BELOW GRADE AND HE WORKED WITH OUR PLUMBER TO COORDINATE SETTING UP DRAINAGE DURING THE JOB. HIS CONCRETE WORK LOOKS VERY GOOD--I'M VERY HAPPY WE WENT WITH HIM.

THIS WAS A FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE! FRANK MACON THE OWNER WAS PERSONALLY ON THE JOB THE ENTIRE TIME WITH HIS CREW. THEY STARTED EARLY EVERY DAY, AND CLEANED UP EVERYTHING BEFORE THEY LEFT. THEY MADE IT AS CONVENIENT AS POSSIBLE FOR US, WITH 2 SMALL CHILDREN AND A DOG USED TO USING THE BACKYARD. WE WOULD RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYBODY NEEDING CONCRETE WORK DONE!

FRANK, THE OWNER, CAME WITH HIS 2 WORKERS AT 6:30 AM EVERY DAY FOR ALMOST 2 WEEKS. HE WAS A "WORKER" WITH THEM. THEY WERE NICE AND A PLEASURE. WE WERE LUCKY. THEIR PRICE WAS THE BEST OUT OF 4 ESTIMATES, AND NO ONE COULD HAVE DONE A BETTER JOB. FANTASTIC!

FRANK WAS GREAT TO WORK WITH. KEPT ME INFORMED AS TO WHAT WAS HAPPENING AND FINISHED THE JOB IN A VERY TIMELY MANNER. GAVE ME A QUOTE LAST YEAR FOR THIS WORK AND HONORED THE SAME PRICE THIS YEAR EVEN THOUGH THE WORK AREA INCREASED IN SIZE. VERY THOROUGH AND GREAT FOLLOW UP.
