I built my home in 1995 and had some issues with what I perceived to be an undersized furnace and air conditioning unit. The distribution of heating and cooling throughout the house, especially the difficulty I had in cooling off the second floor made me crazy. I called State Automatic based on a referral I received from a local builder friend of mine. These guys are a Mom and Pop operation that have been doing business in the Western Burbs for many years. Having done some research on-line, I kind of knew what I was looking for - NOT!  after a 30 minute presentation - I realized just how little I knew about this subject. To make a long story short - I installed a high efficiency Carrier heating system and heat pump - warning - you get what you pay for, and I learned that the hard way with my first installation.  I received multiple quotes - some higher, some lower.  What impressed me was the time they took to educate me on the different brands of furnaces, efficiency ratings, rebates and tax credits. The thing that really surprised me, and I had never heard of before, is the heat pump. I could actually choose to use gas or electric - depending on current cost of either to efficiently manage my indoor living environment.  I couldn't get over how quiet this system is. My wife and I kept wondering if it was working. Not only is the temperature consistent throughout the house, but with 3 dogs and a cat, the filtration system has kept our home smelling fresh and clean. There is also an adjustable humidity control feature that comes in handy during the cold winter months, and keeps the dampness to a minimum during the Summer. Based on what I was paying before, and what we're paying now - with the tax credit, and rebates - this system will pay for itself within 5 years. Not bad considering the initial shock of having to shell out almost $15k.  I highly recommend this company, and suggest that the least you should do is hear their presentation - like me, you'll be amazed at just how much there is to learn about heating and cooling your home.

$110
They came out and did our heater and furnace. They are very nice people to deal with. I have never had problem. One of the reasons the price was $110 is that I had to buy an extra filter for my furnace. I have a couple of dogs, and my filters kind of get plugged up faster. I think the normal cost for their service would be less than that. The people that came out were super nice. I would recommend them and would continue to use them in the future.
