About us

Nelson Design Associates, inc. provides design services for landscape architectural projects. We specialize in Residential Design, Commercial/Urban/Public Design, Sustainable Design, and Consulting Services to other organizations. A major focus of the company is on residential landscape design. NDA handles all aspects of the project, from design services to construction. Our focus is on providing the highest quality designs as our top priority, and being able to properly implement the designs in construction in order to meet the expectations and budget of our clients. We also offer design and consulting services for commercial, urban, public/park projects and have over 15 years experience with these types of projects. Sustainable Design is a top priority for Nelson Design Associates. We have LEED Accredited Professionals on staff, and experience with LEED and Sustainable SITES projects. Currently, Nelson Design Associates is a consultant to the Morton Arboretum for their SITES programs and other sustainable initiatives. In 2014 we merged with our long time partner Olive Grove Landscape, and now offer construction services to support our custom design work. This allows us to be a trusted resource to our clients from start to finish on a project.

.Matt came to our house, listened to our likes and dislikes, took pictures and measurements, clarified points. Matt then went back to his office and created a beautiful design that truly reflected what we wanted to accomplish in turning our plain yard into a place offering privacy, protection, and functionality, combined with low maintenance.
Matt has a great sense of scale, color, and an in-depth knowledge of plants not typically found with a design architect.
For the quality of the work product his price is very fair, and actually a good value.
While some may develop a plan for less cost, I doubt the level of thought and detail would equal Matt's quality.
Matt returned to our house and took the time to step us through each plant and feature. He was happy to answer all our questions.
Matt worked with our schedule, delaying his return to match our availability.
I highly recommend Matt for your design needs.
Our next step is to save up and begin phase one in 2014.

Matt was great to work with and did a fantastic job on our landscaping plan! He was professional and created a beautiful and scalable plan that we will be able to use over the years to create the curb appeal that is appropriate for our 100 year home. We appreciated the thoughtfulness that went into his design and highly recommend him to those looking for a landscaper.

NDA was fantastic to work with. Matt is very responsive and gets stuff done when he says he is going to which is unusual (in good way) for this industry where there is often not a lot of professionalism. NDA has a crew to perform small to mid-size landscape projects and his prices are very competitive. I have nothing but good things to say about our experience with NDA and would highly recommend NDA to anyone looking to do a commercial or residentional landscape project.
