They stopped by 06/25/15 , measured & took a 50% deposit , which took all of 10 minutes .
Everything seemed fine when the door was installed 07/16/15 . It was louder going up & down , but I figured it was due to a heavier door .
On 08/02/15 the door started malfunctioning ; bouncing back , then not even coming down at all.
I tried to call Consolidated door , but they have NO EMERGENCY or after hours number.
Customers just have to wait until their usual business hours.
So I called the emergency number for the company that installed the opener in 2012 .
I was called back in a matter of moments ; they had me look at the sensors to see if there was debris (none) & make sure they were lit ( they were. )
It was explained to me that the vibrations from the door were causing it to back up , so they had me press & HOLD the button to get the door to close on that 90 + degree day.
I got a call back from Consolidated on Monday at which time they were very uncooperative about coming to look at the door around my schedule. I can be home at 430p , which is plenty early for a week day. Since they were unwilling to come after work or Saturday , I asked if I could hire someone else & have them reimburse me - I was told this would "Void my warranty". They tried to get me to have a neighbor be responsible for their visit if I couldn't be home at their convenience- I think any homeowner could see the problem with that.
The manager was literally expecting me to take time off work for this. ( how do they think I get the money to pay for the door ?)
At one point the manager even asked me, well how were you home for the install ? ( vacation day ) .
We left the conversation with the statement that they couldn't be sure when someone would be in the area , but would call me IN ADVANCE to let me know when they could be expected.
Not exactly what anyone could consider good customer service.
There seems to be some confusion with their concept of WHO is the CUSTOMER , & WHO should be ACCOMMODATING WHO.
Monday 08/03/15 & Tues 08/04/15 I hear nothing from them so I run errands on the way home from work.
As I'm returning home 08/04/15 I get a phone call from their tech telling me " it's 440pm & where are you ?"
If I had been #$%^&* informed in advance they would be there, I would have come straight home !
THE TECH EVEN HAD THE NERVE TO LIE TO ME & TELL ME THEY HAD CALLED ME TWICE EARLIER IN THE DAY.
Really? If you had confirmed with me the first time , there would have been no need to call a second time.
Monday 08/03/15 & Tues 08/04/15 the door seems to be working on its own now. For how long I don't know. It still makes rattling noises going up and down.
As far as Consolidated Garage Door Ltd is concerned THEY GET A ZERO for service after the sale.
***Update....Spoke w Phil at Consolidated 08/15/15 today @9:30 ....explained to him after examination that the garage door opener was not connected correctly by the technician...The tech probably figured "hey, it's not our opener , so who cares if it breaks ? "
The bolt is connected crooked , so no wonder it shakes each time the door opens & closes.
Phil actually told me "they only come to fix their mistakes during 'normal business hours' , like I'm a 1950's housewife with nothing to do . They had the opportunity to do the job for hours the first time. It is not my obligation to take time off of work due to THEIR MISTAKES.
The mistakes being; The door opener is not vertical causing the trolley to lean to one side which will eventually wear it out. The two bolts connecting the arm are even crooked. I sent photos to the wonderful company that installed the opener 2012 & they called it a "hack job".

"Thank you for putting your trust in our people and products. Mike"
The phone receptionist with whom I spoke was able to make a service appointment for the very same day and called back within an hour to let me know a technician was on his way. The technician was very cordial, professional, and efficient. Within the hour, he had installed the opener, removed the old unit and left the garage area as clean as before. The price for the service call plus the new door opener was reasonable and fair. I would definitely recommend their services to friends and neighbors!
