SPECTRUM IMPROVEMENTS

The exterior of our house needed painting and several boards needed to be replaced as well. When Dennis came to our house, we knew we had the right guy. He was extremely knowledgeable and informative. He knew so much more than any other painter we’ve ever hired. His pricing was more than fair, and with the glowing referrals from other happy homeowners, this was the right company. Dennis and crew did an outstanding job and greatly exceeded our expectations. They were responsible, reliable, and very neat. The entire crew was friendly, polite, and professional. He will always be our go-to guy for our painting needs.

This particular man has painted our house (Outside, and in), and has done deck work for us for the last 15 years. He is very fair, and does excellent work. The guy who owns this company has a degree in Engineering from Purdue. He took over his father's company, and grew it. He has a amazing ability to match paint and colors. What you see as an example ahead of time is what you get. He is very good at staining as well. We have had a 100% satisfaction with him. Without reservation I would recommend him. The price at market.

I originally contacted Dennis in April 2008 to give us an estimate on sanding and painting our entire garage (it has wood siding). I called Dennis within a week or so of his estimate and granted him the work. We agreed that he would be out to complete the job by the end of June. The end of June sounded good to all of us. June 30th came and went and we hadn't heard from Dennis. I had stressed to him from the beginning that we were having that barbecue on the 13th of July and that the project absolutely had to be done by then. Dennis assured me that it still wouldn't be a problem to get the job done before the barbecue and he said that he'd be out to us the following week. That next Wednesday was the 9th of July and Dennis? worker showed up at our house to start scraping around noontime. By Friday morning that exact same worker was still here by himself and still scraping and sanding but not yet painting. I could no longer even try to believe that this project was going to be completed by the end of the day. In the end, 1 other worker and Dennis came to help the 1 guy that'd been here so far. The 3 of them finished sanding and scraping and then started painting. Apparently the decision was made for them to work in the dark rather than come back and finish the next day (Saturday), which we'd said would be okay with us. Dennis told us at about 9pm that they were done and had in fact they'd gotten 2 full coats of paint on the entire garage. Foolishly, my Husband and I gave Dennis a check for payment in full for the project even though it was already dark and we couldn't see the garage well. The very next morning we went outside to find numerous sizable patches where there was no paint. I decided to call him Monday morning. Monday morning I spoke to Dennis and he told me that he was now on vacation and would be back out to us next week (the week of July 21st-25th) to do any necessary touch-up. We never heard from Dennis. At this point we knew damn well that Dennis wasn't in any hurry to do our touch-up work. He'd been paid, so what did he care? Friday August 15th rolls around and we, of course, hadn't seen Dennis, although we've called him every Friday and been told that we'd see him the following week. It's now been FIVE weeks since he completed the job. My Husband is not a happy camper and basically told Dennis that we're tired of being lied to and ignored and that we simply expect him to be out on Monday the 18th to do this touch-up work. Dennis told my Husband (and I quote) "I'm not making a special trip out there for that." Dennis' business is in Bartlett, Illinois. We're in Elgin, Illinois. It is 8.2 miles from his office to our home. But, he's not going to make a "special trip". Wow. Much to our surprise, Dennis was here on Monday the 18th. My Husband and I had walked around the entire garage and marked with blue tape all of the places that we could see obviously needed touch-up. It appears that Dennis did go over those spots.

The house looks beautiful. My husband came home from work beaming from ear to ear when he saw the house completely painted. We had talked about residing and are so glad we let Spectrum do the painting, because it looks like a new house on the outside. The work was done efficiently, about three and a half days. The painting is very even and clean looking. It absolutely looks like new siding! The crew of Dennis and his four guys were very kind and respectful of my kids and their friends running around the yard playing. They were all very nice. And at the end of each workday they cleaned up all of their stuff before going home and left things in great shape. We even asked Dennis and his crew to stain the deck when they were done with the house because our original handyman hadn't shown up to do the job he had quoted 4 weeks prior. They were kind enough to match his quote and get it done the last day they were here, rather spur of the moment. We could not be more pleased with the way the process went from start to finish!
