 + 6 moreStarted out great. Nice guy, personable. He grew up in the same neighborhood as my wife. Two referrals raved of his work. It all went down hill from there. All work was substandard. Walls were not square, finish work was horrible. Drop ceiling was uneven and not secured, even partially collapsed due to can lights placed on top of ceiling tiles instead of secured to frame. Cardboard was used to shim electrical outlets; baseboard trim not mitered. I was embarrassed to show anyone. I fought with him often and told him of my concerns. I told Joe if he could not do the job, I would get someone that could. He assured me everything would be done right. It took almost 4 months to complete. After I hired other contractors as noted above, Joe Raia assured me he would reimburse me and make it right - just to fax him the receipts. I did, and have called often for status. I never heard from him again. PLEASE DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKES I DID BY HIRING JOE RAIA/RENOVATION TECHNOLOGIES.
Description of Work: Joe Raia and his hired help "finished my basement". They framed, insulated, drywalled, taped and painted my basement. They also installed electrical outlets, can lights, a drop ceiling, oak laminate window sills and baseboard molding. A subcontractor installed carpet (twice). The first carpet came apart at the seems. The second carpet is doing the same thing 3 months later. In addition to the project cost noted above, it has cost me another $3500.00 out of pocket to have everything fixed that he screwed up. I hired two more contractors, one to refinish the walls and another to redo the drop ceiling. I have spent countless hours myself repainting the walls, replacing the can lights, repairing electrical outlets, and staining and installing all trim and baseboard molding. WHAT A NIGHTMARE!!!!
