Excellent!

It is a joy to see a skilled team work together. We had a bid from another contractor that was much lower, but that person didn't take our drainage issues seriously. G-Cat was very careful to give us excellent drainage. Their final product is beautiful. They were very careful not to damage our lawn as they moved their equipment through and to clean up nicely.

Did a good job

We had acquired 3 solid estimates from firms we had either used before or seen their completed work. All firms were professional and we felt comfortable with each individual who came out. We met Jillian at a trade show at a western suburban venue. She had a genuine interest in our project and offered us a card to think about an estimate with their firm. She was honest in the time frame for a project start and added that the wet spring could have an impact on timeliness. Vito came out as scheduled and was interested in looking over my prints and working on an estimate. His knowledge and ability to work around obstacles impressed myself and our whole family. G-Cats bid was not the lowest but we are so glad we had hired them for this project. His whole team of employees on the job were hard working and very accommodating. They were willing to give you value added service at every turn and not once did we feel uncomfortable during the project. Vito's dad, with his years of experience, even joined in and answered questions and shared experience while on the job. It is truly a family business. Vito sticks with the job till it is done and even came out when the paving and blending with the road was done. Please remember that they do not control weather, but patience on your part, and great craftsmanship on their part will leave you satisfied with a job well done. I highly recommend this firm and would use them again.

Very professional and great work!

This was a big project that involved the removal of a sidewalk and the installation of a new stamped concrete sidewalk, patio and a wall surrounding a new fire pit. G-Cat was very professional and helped with the process from the start. They communicated well and helped with the design, which turned out great. The entire crew worked very hard and the quality of the finished product was outstanding. I was very impressed with this company and would highly recommend them to anyone considering patios, sidewalks, fire pits, etc.

We were thoroughly satisfied with the work performed. Vito, Mike and their crew were professional, polite and proficient. Vito worked with us to develop the final plans for our project. and explained in detail every step of the work as it was performed. They completely removed our old garage floor, driveway, side service walk, rear porch slab, front walkway and part of the front porch. All were replaced with quality concrete work without causing any damage to our newly installed siding and trim. We have had a number of compliments on the quality of our new look.

When my wife and I started the process of looking to hire a contractor to tear down and design, and build our front porch concrete steps we first contacted G-Cat Construction Company, and from the very first meeting we new he was the one. He was on-time, professional, listened to every detail we talked about, and was very personable. His quote was detailed, and most importantly, he said he would treat our project no different than if it was a million dollar project, and we believed him. But, we did our do-diligence, and contacted a few other companies for a quote. And every other company we called just didn't take the time to hear what we wanted, or gave quotes that were incomplete, or had hidden-costs, or just seemed like it was business as usual for them. Vitto, (owner of G-Cat) was even kind of us to give us a discount because we found another company that quoted us with a cheaper price despite the fact that Vitto pointed out that the other company had hidden costs in their quote which we didn't catch. That meant a lot to us and we hired him. Vitto and his company delivered such a wonderful finished product that my wife and I consistently have neighbors and passerby's that stop and comment on how beautiful the steps came out. My wife and I could not be happier, and we recommend G-Cat to anyone that is looking to have concrete work for their home. And we plan on having some work done in our backyard patio and already know who we will be hiring for that work without question.

Looked long and hard for a company I felt comfortable with. You never know what your'e getting into until your in it and then it's too late. BUT after choosing G-Cat, I knew I made the right and best choice. The whole process was easy, even with the horrible weather we had. They came when they said, they did what they were suppose to do, they cleaned up after themselves and they finished the job as quick as possible. When they took down the deck, a whole crew showed up and the deck was down and out in under 3 hours. They prepared the patio for pouring and everything went just as expected. This is with an added benefit of a really nice team. It's a family owned business and they have a very hands on personal approach with excellent quality. When I look at my new patio vs. the old stamped patio I removed, I can see the difference in quality. Both in the materials used and the care taken to pour the patio. Even though I didn't have any problems, if I had, I just know that they would have been taken care of because that is how they approached every aspect of the project. Great, as far as quality of the work. Communication from the office staff was sometimes a problem, but at times it was okay.

They were excellent. They delivered when they said, they were on time and very professional. They did added a little style to the sidewalk by adding a more detailed curve. Looks great.

Vito and his team were wonderful. They did everything on time and were very professional. The quality of the patio is second to none. Our inspector was impressed with the attention to detail and the quality of work. I have used many company's fir various projects on my house and GCat was by far the best. I had a family member use them also and they had the same experience. I can't say enough how great Vito was.

Excellent. They came immediately to give us an estimate. We had the option of them getting Village permits or we could get them on our own. Vito kept us informed of each step of the process. Driveway was torn up, with a new base put down in one day. One side was poured another day, and the last side, with sidewalk poured on the third day. All work was cleaned up as they worked. We would highly recommend them and plan to use them again for future work.

After receiving several bids for deck removal and installation of a stamped concrete patio, we chose G Cat Construction. We saw many very favorable reviews and their bid was well below others. It also included more options. We were not disappointed. Our deck was removed in one day and then Vito and his crew came back to mock up the design we were thinking about. After several minor changes, the outline was marked out and the work began. G Cat has all the equipment you could possibly think of to make a job move along quickly and as perfectly as possible. Jillian came out and helped us select the concrete colors and stamping designs. The patio was put down in two pours and either Vito or his father Mike (He’s the one with the cigar) supervised. The team worked like a well-oiled machine. Everyone knew exactly what to do and when to do it. There was no damage to the lawn and the crew cleaned up each time they were here. On the final visit the sealing coats were applied and then the color really came out. It was outstanding! We were available to watch the progress of the work. The vast number of steps required to complete this work is mind boggling. Doing the work well and not taking short cuts is paramount in the process. G Cat operates with great integrity and respect for the client. No short cuts! Each time we look at our new patio we see the beautiful result of the color, texture, and the stamped design. Even the detail of the step down from the house has a live edge on the concrete. It looks like a large actual stone. Best of all is the minimal maintenance of the patio. G Cat is prompt and professional in all aspects of the job. G Cat is one of the best contractors I have ever known.

Vito and his team were great. From proposal thru job completion, everything went really well. We are very happy with the work and the finished product. I would say that G-CAT wasn't the lowest price we received, but certainly competitive. Vito's passion for his craft comes out in the first meeting and that translated well to the work crew. Vito's team cared for the permitting, was very good about communicating with us on work start date. The work crew was professional, took care with the yard (plywood path), left our yard clean and well marked at the end of the day before the job was complete. Vito kept us to date on next steps throughout the job. Completed patio, stoop and walkway look great! We'd use G-CAT again for sure.

Above my expectations and those were high due to the rave reviews on here Vito is one of the best contractors I have ever dealt with. His crews work like a well-oiled machine in perfect synchrony. It really is something to watch. They made quick and amazingly clean work of the removal of the existing concrete and soon there after the forms were all set! The rail slowed work down a few days, but Vito was in constant contact with us and kept us in the loop every step. The finished product is even better than I imagined. This is not a company that is going to nickel and dime you for every little detail above and beyond the contract, rather, their motivation is obviously to create the best outcome possible and leave a very happy customer!

Vito gave us an estimate one or two days after initial contact with him. After getting the necessary approvals from our homeowners association and the city, Vito and his crew completed the project very rapidly and in an excellent manner.

Good 1 small flaw

Everything was great until the final payment. I received an e-mail the balance was 1300.00 and was charged to my American Express card. Today 11/04 I received a call saying that the balance was not charged. The problem is that the balance due now is different than the e-mail that I have saying the balance was 1300.00. I did sign the paper work on the day the they started the project not realizing the price was changed.

I had an excellent experience from beginning to end. I called G Cat's office and they scheduled a visit from Vito Nitti. Vito showed up on time (he called ahead to give me heads up), walked through all the work areas, gave me a thorough explanation on the process, and answered my exhaustive list of questions. Jillian Nitti, the president, emailed me a proposal within a day or two and I found the rate fair. I told them that they are not the cheapest, but Vito's communication and presentation made me comfortable with him and the company. They use both wire and fiber mesh. There was an 8 week wait and during this time I made some modifications to the proposal over email with Jillian. I'm sure I was annoying, but Jillian was all business and took care of everything. I also called a few times with questions and the office staff (I don't recall their names) was knowledgeable about the construction process and administrative side of things. 1 week before they were ready to start work I received a call and, again, the office staff on the phone was very knowledgeable about everything I thought of asking. On the first day of the construction, Vito and about 8 field crew showed up with a bobcat, digger, and commercial dump truck. Vito double checked the specifications of the job with me before getting started. He provided me with the permits to tape on my door. Throughout the day Vito and I talked a few times over questions/details. I only directly interacted with Vito and one field crew, but everyone appeared efficient, polite, and respectful of the neighbors. The next day was inspection by the village. Vito kept me updated by text message. I was not around when they performed the first and second pour the concrete, but clean up was good and damage to the lawn was, in my opinion, minimal. They back filled the defect left from moving my front service walk and did a fine job. After a couple days of the final pour, they removed the mold boards. The whole process took about 2 weeks including a weekend (no work) and waiting 7 days needed before we can drive on the concrete. Professionals all around. Payment was 1/2 due on day of work and then I got an invoice for the rest of it sometime after the final pour. Vito texted me what the permit cost me. I hope these guys stay in business and maintain the quality in their staff and work.

The entire job went very, very well. Vito came to the house to make an estimate and we discussed general design, size, etc. As we talked, he offered design suggestions and explained how the job would proceed. We were able to donate the old brick to someone and it was removed before G-Cat started excavation. Weather is always a potential factor in scheduling, but Vito was easy to communicate with throughout the job. The first day of work was excavating and forming for the new concrete. Vito and his crew arrived right on time and we completed final design details while the forms were set up as Vito had told us. When everything was to our satisfaction, the forms were finalized - ready for the first pour. There was one set of steps at the main entry and two small ones at secondary doors. These were poured and stamped first and allowed to set up for a day. The next pour was the main patio area. Mike (Vito's dad) supervised this crew that handles the large pours and stamping work. The crew had the pouring and stamping finished in about 4 hours. Again, the concrete had to set up prior to saw cutting the control joints and sealing. Rainy weather delayed sealing a few days, but another 2-man crew came as soon as weather was clear and applied the sealant. The final result was excellent. Colors and textures were just as we had planned. The main entry steps made access and egress much easier. I had the opportunity to chat with Vito (company owner) and Mike while the work was being done. The way G-Cat runs their jobs is to have Vito's team do the demo, excavating, final design, and forming work. Then, Mike's team does the pouring and finishing. Finally, a two man team, dedicated to sealing, wrap things up. It was very refreshing to have the company owners/principles on site full time coaching their teams. I was surprised when I saw Vito running the Bobcat backhoe during the excavation! Both Vito and Mike closely supervised their team members - assuring that the quality was up to the company's standards - and that the customer was completely satisfied every step of the way. As I watched the work, it was easy to see that all of the staff members were experienced and had worked together extensively. Everyone knew what needed to be done, who was going to do it, and what was needed to assure quality and satisfaction. That kind of teamwork only comes with years of working together and G-Cat staff members have been with the company for years. The job proceeded like clockwork - very efficient - and all under the watchful eyes of Vito and Mike. It was a pleasure to do business with the G-Cat team and I give them my highest recommendation.
