I contacted MCC for a quote on our basement. Brian came out right away as he was working on a job near us and had a lot of great ideas. He said he would be back later in the week to take detailed measurements and I never heard from him again. I called multiple times as did my husband but he never called either of us back. I realize contractors are very busy right now but it would have been nice if he told us he was not interested in the job.

They were a great company. They responded to my e-mail right away, gave me an estimate right away, and did the job on time. They were very professional.

We asked Brian Koch of Midwest Construction to build a room addition to the rear of our 45 year old home.

|From the first visit Brian knew just what we wanted and took care of all the details from the initial drawings and village approval to the last light fixture installation.

|Midwest uses only professional subcontractors that he knows can be trusted to maintain standard and reputation.

Brian, the owner and general contractor for Midwest Construction is a high energy individual that we felt delivered more for our money than any other general contractor would have. He is passionate about his work and really cares about the quality of his results. When you work with Brian you get the attention to detail and master craftsman of a custom home builder, but at the speed and efficiency of a production home builder/developer.
I was thoroughly impressed with several items so I'll go through them one by one:
Creativity - when you work with Brian you're not alone when you make any of your decisions, from design to structure to color choices, Brian will have opinions and he will give you brilliant ideas that you never would have thought of on your own that can make a major positive impact on the overall project. In our case we reconfigured our entire kitchen layout based on one of Brian's suggestions and it really opened up the back side of our house nicely.
Brian is also capable of handling all of your creative decisions himself if you'd like. If you want someone to handle all of the decisions for you, Brian can do it from start to finish with little guidance. In our case, we wanted to be involved in all choices and decisions and Brian was flexible and would work with us as we preferred.
Quality - Brian will tell you that his approach is to be the and quot;advocate of your house, and quot; meaning he will help you make every decision for the long term better good of your house. With this approach he will sometimes make recommendations outside of the scope of your project if he finds something that needs repair or improvement. In our case he found a few minor items with our ventilation system and made a couple repairs at no charge. Brian takes great pride in his work and doesn't take the and quot;easy wayand quot; just to complete a job, he really works hard to do things right and to ensure overall quality.
Advice/Consultation/expert knowledge - It's clear Brian has experience in all facets of home building and that expert knowledge is tremendously valuable when you're doing larger projects. In our case, we needed someone that could do it all, electrical, structural, interior, exterior, plumbing, and brickwork. We always had confidence Brian could both advise us of the best options but also deliver the end results. Brian went so far as to create life sized cut-outs of our cabinet layout so we could envision exactly how our new kitchen plan would work. This was especially helpful for us due to a unique and custom island request, and Brian's approach made the entire process much smoother, especially choosing and designing the cabinets, granite, and lighting.
Communication - This is one of Brian's best assets, his communication and responsiveness are second to none. You will not find a general contractor that is as responsive as Brian and over the course of our project we sent him countless emails and text messages and he would always respond quickly addressing any questions we had. This really helped make our massive project a lot more tolerable.
Cleanliness - This alone made my wife love both Brian and Mitch. They came in on day one and took steps to ensure dust leaving the work area would be held to a minimum. They attached plastic tarps from floor to ceiling between the living area and the work area and blocked off the vents from circulating the dust throughout the rest of the house. And when they removed a large whole house ceiling fan from our upstairs hallway, they did it in a single day in such a way there was no dust, dirt or debris left behind. My wife and I were both thrilled with this small part of the overall project, and we didn't even had to ask them if they could do it quickly and cleanly, they just did it this way and we were able to use our upstairs living area without interruption.
We feel lucky we were referred to Brian and have already recommended him to a few of our friends. We highly recommend Midwest Construction and we plan to work with them again in the future.

The job went very well! The workers were very professional, prompt and polite. They started out by tearing out the old counter tops, sink and paneling that was on the walls. They were very careful in keeping the dust and debris to a minimum. Then, they took the time to level out the existing cabinets and put in some extra support for the new granite counter tops. Once the counter tops were in they installed the tile on the walls behind with a design above the sink that they were instrumental in designing.
