We made all scheduled payments as per our contract to include the initial deposit of $9200.00 for special order materials.
$6000.00 at start of work, $736.00 for permits and fees, scheduled payment of $2500.00 on decking installation. We were charged an additional $3772.00 for additional stairs and decking. The total paid to Rodney Lancaster to date for the project is $22,208.00
8/25/16 is the last day Rodney worked on this project. He left us with an unsafe frame of a deck, no composite decking materials, no cedar closet, no stairs, no lighting, no concrete patio. After voice mail messages and e-mails had been left with no response, we went to the Village to report the neglect and unsafe conditions. We were told that as home owners it is our responsibility to rectify the unsafe situation and we have 30 days to do so.
We visited Rodney at his place of business on 9/20 and 9/28/16 where Rodney told us he was hurt, could not work, spent our money on his personal medical bills, and had no money to finish the job.
His website deceptively states he has "remodeling technicians that have been committed to each clients satisfaction since 1991".
There are no technicians. Rodney works alone.
We hired another contractor to complete the job. It cost us $1500.00 to repair the work he did on the frame, along with the cost of the materials we never received and the labor to complete the project.
We have not heard from Rodney Lancaster since our visit to his business on 9/28/16.
The account for our outdoor living project took years to build.
We are seeking a refund from Mr. Lancaster of $15,708.00 for the materials and labor we paid for and did not receive from him.
We pray Rodney Lancaster will provide restitution for his wrong doing, and are willing to report back to Angie's List when the refund due to us is received.
do to make money on the job, by installing recycled (from another job)
outlets, switches, and trim. In addition, he stole the dimmer switches
that I purchased. His work, customer service, attitude and work ethic
is terrible.
