Mark and the guys were terrific.  Showed up promptly every morning and always put in a full day.  Always double-checked with me to make sure things were done to my satisfaction.  They ran into a couple of glitches as far as pieces of siding needing to be replaced, but they took care of that and my house looks so much better.  Will definitely have them back!

They power washed the entire house to get it all clean.  Then house was scraped, patched as needed (few woodpecker areas) and where paint had faded and then sanded.  All areas that were worked on or needed additional attention were then primed with an oil base primer they provided.  Once entirely dry all the primed areas were then covered with a coat of the final stain color along with all trim areas to insure even covering that would not bleed or show through.  Then the entire house was painted completely with final stain color.  In addition a small area around the front door was found that was holding moisture and beginning to rot.  They replaced what was required and primed and painted the replacement wood on all sides.  Once completed they cleaned everything up and left it as they found it.  The completed house Looks Great!!!  They are Professional, Polite with Good Communications and Very Good work Ethics.  They actually did More than I was expecting and that's a pleasant surprise.  I would recommend this crew to anyone in need of a painting project.  Great job for the cost and nice guys to work with.

He keeps giving me the run around.  He cashed my check on Oct. 17, 2011.  He kept talking about all of these delays with work and it has come down to the point where I need my money back.  I do not want him to do the work, as he knows, I want my money back.
Response from CENTURY PAINTING and sons
"Customer said no work was done and in service performed said work was done. Did have several delays due to rain (can verify from weather history). They pushed all projects back. We did wash half their home and told her we would be back in about a week to begin. When we called her to begin, she said she had changed her mind. I asked several times to allow us to begin and then if not pleased with the our work we would pull out of the project and refund the deposit."

The work was not done properly. It was sloppy work. The workers didn't come on time or stay the whole day. He got paint on existing painted walls, laminate floors, and on base boards. He made a total mess in my house. He scratched my laminate floors while moving furniture. He also upped the price in the middle of the job. He also postponed my project to start another job.

Was pleased with job, I found this painter via Angie's List. However, paint started to bubble after one year, and now is pealing off in sheets.

The work was OK. I'm not really complaining about the work. I'm complaining because the bill he presented me with was twice the amount of the estimate. He charged me $11274.00. I paid him in full. The original estimate was $4147.00. I signed a contract for additional $1501.00. I even reported him to the Attorney General's office.
Response from CENTURY PAINTING and sons
"The starting delay was due to us being CONTRACTED for RAIN DAYS for a LOWER COST. The contract was signed 7/9/08 & received on 7/12. On 7/14 they called and asked approx. when the work would be done. We told them about mid August. The project was started 8/13. Just what they had agreed upon but have obviously forgotten. Calls were returned within 24 hrs except once within 36 hrs only due to a MAJOR HEALTH ISSUE. NOBODY had QUIT we had plenty of work. The customer is requested to MOVE SMALL ITEMS ONLY. The crew had 2 apprentices 1 being my 17 yr old son who is learning the FAMILY TRADE being the 4TH GENERATION. NO FRIENDS are ALLOWED. The owner (myself) was ON SITE EVERY OTHER DAY due to health issues. Many employees have offered to testify to Angie's or whomever if the SLANDER DOESN'T CEASE. A first complaint was filed with the Attorney General & upon our response THEY CLEARED US finding NO WRONG DOING. The second complaint was filed with the Better Business Bureau. Again upon our response they DISMISSED the COMPLAINT finding NO WRONG DOING. Next was to Angie's List. With each agency, the member's complaint has changed. Maybe they just wish to TARNISH our name since we have been CLEARED of any LEGAL or MORAL ISSUES. If they were so unhappy why did they give ALL the men a TIP and PRAISE their work."

On August 4, 2006, my husband and I signed a contract with Century Painting of Barrington to paint the exterior of our house at a cost of $1825. Although Century Painting was costlier than the other quotes we received, we decided to use the company since there was a 2 year guarantee. Almost from the beginning, the paint cracked and peeled. Although it took the workers a while before coming out to take a look at the problem, and attempting to fix it, they did do some minimal scraping and did repaint a small section. On March 12, 2008, since a large crack/peeling in the paint appeared again, at the front of the house, we contacted Century Painting. Having left a message on their answering machine, we asked for a return call to confirm that they had received the message and a possible date when they would return to make the needed repair. On March 24th, 2008, we placed another call, and this time talked directly with the owner. We were assured during this time that someone from the company would come out, and fix the crack/peeling paint. Since no one came out or called after this time, we called again the week of June 9th, third week in Oct., and second week in November. WHEN WILL THIS REPAIR BE MADE AND THE PAINT NOT CRACK/PEEL?

We were very satisfied with the professionalism and quality of the work that was provided. We received three quotes for our first floor and picked the middle quote (Century Painting). After the first day of painting, we decided to have them do the second floor as well due to the high quality of the work.

Dave was very professional, and followed up after his estimate to see if we were interested. When I indicated yes and that I would send the contract to him via mail (and then forgot to do so!), he nicely called to see if I had sent the contract in case it got lost in the mail, or if we had changed our minds. Very great job with the painting, despite 100+ degree temperatures. Would hire Century again! Bonus -- their price was 20% lower than the second lowest bid I received, and up to 40% lower than the highest bid!

Overall did a good job. Timing was slow in getting to our job. Signed proposal in May, supposed to start in Oct. to early Nov. did not start until late Dec. Original estimate of 4 days ended up being roughly 2 weeks in part due to additional work requested or required.

DAVID AND HIS CREW (4) WERE ALWAYS ON TIME, VERY POLITE, AND A PLEASURE TO HAVE IN THE HOUSE. THEY ALWAYS REMOVED THEIR SHOES AND CLEANED UP AFTER THEMSELVES. THEY EVEN VACUUMED! CENTURY'S PRICES WERE A LITTLE HIGHER THAN OTHERS, BUT THEY DID A GREAT JOB AND DID NOT TAKE ANY SHORTCUTS.

OVERALL THE COMPANY DID A GOOD JOB BUT WE FELT WE WERE RUSHED INTO PICKING A FINAL COLOR FOR OUR MASTER BEDROOM AND BATH. WE DID NOT LIKE THE PAINTING RESULTS OF THE INTERIOR WOOD TRIM AND DOORS - THEY WERE PAINTED WITH FLAT WHITE PAINT. THE OVERALL PRICE WAS OK, AND THE FACT THAT THE COMPANY DEPLOYED A TEAM OF FIVE PAINTERS TO DO THE WORK MADE THE ENTIRE PROJECT GO FASTER THAN WE ANTICIPATED. WE WOULD WORK WITH THIS COMPANY AGAIN.

WHEN WE CALLED THEY WERE PROMPT IN THEIR RESPONSE TIME. TONY WAS A PLEASURE TO WORK WITH AS WELL AS BEING VERY COMPETITIVE WITH HIS QUOTE. ONE WEEK AFTER WE CALLED THEY SENT OVER A TEAM OF THREE OF THE NICEST GUYS YOU COULD IMAGINE. THEY WORKED VERY PROFESSIONALLY AND THE OUTCOME EXCEEDED OUR EXPECTATIONS. I WILL NOT HESITATE TO CONTACT THEM FOR FUTURE WORK
