Description of Work: We had a leak in the bathroom shower which was behind the wall. It had been leaking for quite some time and the sub floor of the bathroom was badly damaged. An insurance claim was filed and this company worked with our insurance company to obtain an agreed price. Once this was achieved, we decided that we wanted to make some changes to the bathroom. Instead of replacing the bathtub, we wanted to install a shower surround instead. A 2nd estimate was provided by this company, which was more money than the first estimate. Because the cost exceeded the insurance claim amount, we wanted to do some of the work ourselves. The company called to inform us that they don't like when customers nit-pick their estimates to try to save money. They said that if they were not allowed to do all of the work included in the estimate that they did not want the job. So, we are presently looking for someone else who values our business. The job was estimated at around $6,000.00. The savings we would have realized if we did a portion of the work ourselves was around $500.00. This company also objected to our purchasing supplies and materials for the job at Home Depot. They quoted the shower surround at nearly $800.00 when the same unit could be purchased at home Depot for $450.00. This markup did not include labor. The labor was a separate charge for over $900.00. We had three appointments where this company met us at the home. The first appointment was cancelled and rescheduled by the company. The 2nd appointment was a no show by the company. The 3rd, they were late.
