Family owned and operated since 1968, Alarm Detection Systems, Inc. (ADS) understands that nothing is more important than the safety of your family and the protection of your business. Choosing the right security system is one of the most crucial decisions you can make. Alarm Detection Systems will work with you to design a system perfect for your security needs. Along with the ability to professionally plan, design, operate, upgrade, service, and support all electronic security, we are fully equipped to provide 24-hour monitoring services to customers throughout Northern Illinois and neighboring states. We install and service security equipment, including smoke alarms, burglar alarms, closed circuit television, access control, motion detectors, panic alarms, and sirens. In addition, all systems are monitored 24-hours a day, seven days a week from our UL Listed central monitoring station in Aurora, Illinois.

We hired them in Nov. 2012 when the annual cost was $480. They bought the previous company we used, Northshore Alarm Co. They had to upgrade our system to use their newer control panels and some zone wiring at a cost of $255. They also come about every two years to change the backup battery parts/labor $95. So far we haven't had any break-ins or fires (knocking on wood), so we don't know how responsive they are in an emergency situation. They are responsive when we test the alarm or set it off by mistake. Overall, having the alarm system gives my family increased peace of mind.

They were very detailed oriented. If something came up in their weekly testing of the system or if there was any problem with communication from their station to my home they were very good about alerting me to let me know there was a problem in the alarm might not be working properly and to retest the system on my end. I like that and they had great communication with their customers. If the alarm ever went off they were great about alerting you. If they had any difficulty in contacting you they were diligent about reaching you to let you know that we had a problem and should we be changing anything on the contact list. I really appreciated that.

I have used the company for about 12 years. They are a first class company and care about individual customers. They take care of the equipment and are very prompt. They listened to my suggestions. They are a locally owned company and it is very easy to contact them when I need a service.

It was an awful experience. I have cancelled the service. He did send me copies of the and quot;contractand quot; and in the future I will read the fine print. When I was filling out the contact info I assumed It was for updated contact information since the old company was bought out by this company. It is very misleading. There isn't a place to initial that I have read the 7 years and monthly afterwards terms. It is stated in the bottom after the contact information. VERY MISLEADING I have found many other companies on Angie's List that are far better service-wise and cost effective.

Sales person and installer were helpful, knowledgeable, and prompt. The problems are happening now, when we need service. This company is based in the western Chicago suburbs and we are in the city. One zone of our alarm system has not been working for about a week; there has also been a rash of burglaries in our neighborhood so we really need the alarm. No one has been able to come (I first called four days ago), despite the service contract that is in place. I have been told that emergencies come first, which I understand, and I've been assured that someone is "coming." They cannot give even an estimate of the time. What I can't accept is that I was told there was "one guy" to handle all of Chicago. He also has a Lake Forest call to make today. I'm sure glad I don't have a real emergency (yet)! This company might be fine for someone located in the western suburbs, but we need to make a change.

They monitor for fire and burglary for me, they have been doing this for me for 6 years and they have great customer service and are very responsive. They are knowledgeable and the servicemen explain things every time they come out and I really like that they are a local company.

It is an association due. It is all built in. Sometimes we do have problems if the power goes out. Other times their system is not working right. I think it is a network problem, not exactly theirs. This usually happens when there are big storms around. They negotiated the price with our homeowners.

THE SERVICE PEOPLE CALL IMMEDIATELY WHEN THE ALARM GOES OFF. THEY ARE VERY PROFESSIONAL. THEY SUGGEST DOING A MONTHLY CHECK, AT NO CHARGE, TO MAKE SURE THE ALARM IS FUNCTIONING PROPERLY.
