My family has used Affordable Services for Heating/AC maintenance for years. Julie (phone support/scheduling) is always helpful and the techs are great. We recently had an issue with a grinding noise coming from the heating unit at start up, and they got a tech there within an hour of my initial call and fixed the issue immediately. I highly recommend this company!

John came for the service. I did not spend time with him outside; so I am not sure what he did and what was checked. Came back in a little while and told me that the condenser needs to be replaced, the contactor needs to be replaced and the electric whip was badly beatup and also needed to be replaced. So he replaced the condenser and the contactor and said he will come back for the whip. He charged me $560 for these parts and said he will come back for the whip and that would cost and additional $160. I checked out the whip and it looks fine. Now I have to call another technician and verify that the parts he replaced were not used. The prices charged were way above market. I don't think there was a need to change anything. I would be very careful with John. After they get your confidence they go for the kill. The next thing I would expect from John is that my compressor needs to be replaced.

"I am disappointed to hear that you had a negative experience with John's performance. John has been servicing your equipment for 13 years now. I've checked your history, and the only prior repair that was ever charged for your air conditioner was for a $3 wire repair, besides routine maintenance. I see that in June of 2020 that there was a note on your invoice that the dual capacitor was really rusty, but nothing was sold to you at that time. I did speak to John regarding the maintenance visit you had scheduled. He said that after completing his cleaning and inspection, that he got you from the house, to have you come see what issues he thought needed to be addressed. He told you that the dual capacitor was not working. Again, this part had been noted in 2020 to be very rusty, and was starting to show wear. As for the contactor, John had told you it was making noise (chattering) and indicated that it was working, but should be replaced. He also told you if you had to only replace one, then definitely replace the dual capacitor, as the contactor was still working for now. As for the electrical whip, John showed you that there was exposed wires by an electrical fitting. The whip is more than 13 years old, and in his opinion, it would be more reasonable to replace the whip than to leave wires exposed with a faulty fitting. None of these repairs seem unreasonable to me on an air conditioning system that is 13 years old. I feel that John performed his maintenance check thoroughly, and even took the time to address the issues with you, and got your verbal approval before doing the repairs. John is a highly respected and requested tech by a majority of our customers. Again, I'm sorry but unfortunately older units do need maintenance and repairs, and with the current market, prices are definitely higher than they were even a year or two ago. I know you may feel what you paid was unusually high, but I assure you that for the 2 parts including labor plus a maintenance check up, it is more than a fair price."

First when john showed up he diagnosed and said we needed a new computer board. That he said would cost $ 350.00 plus $ 145.00 just to show up. I said go ahead and get one. The heat wasn't working so he had me. The next day he came back to install the board and by that time the heater was working again. So the computer board was really fine. Then he said it was a very expensive valve that was bad. The price of a new valve was $550.00 plus $ 145.00 to show. He said it was really pricey and did I want to replace it. That seemed crazy expensive and I said are here any other options. He offered a new furnace at $1900.00. I said go ahead and replace that valve. I told him that we knew of the owner and could he be fair on price. I was looking for a regular company to call for work in the future and had had previous bad heating guy experience. John assured us that the pricing was fair. After he finished and left I googled the valve cost. As it turns out anyone can buy that valve for $ 195.00. A $ 355.00 mark up seemed out of line. I don't mind paying a fair price but that is bordering on criminal. The combination of bad troubleshooting and taking advantage of people that are in a bind is wrong on so many levels. Beware of this company!

I have been using this company for 15 YEARS! Mike, John and Frank are all personable and reliable. They kept my old furnace [original in 1976] running until 2012! I always know they will do their best to fix or maintain my furnace and AC at the lowest cost they can. I won't call anyone else.

Annually I have Affordable perform a Clean and Check on my furnace. Just had them out for this year. I have an eight year old Goodman furnace that they installed way back then.
This visit was the same as in past years.
The dispatcher at Affordable notified me when the tech is on the way.
It's usually the same tech person; John or Mike; they record their visit date on a checklist on my furnace. This time it was Mike. He seems to genuinely enjoy his work as did the other techs.
The furnace clean-and-check receipt included a handwritten section, describing the work performed in the clean-and-check.
Tech visit lasted less than one hour, and the furnace was given the green light to be on its way for this next season.

I have used this company before for a repair and I was very happy with the work done. So I called them for the maintenance of our furnace and was equally please. The man who came out was on time, very respectful of my home (he put booties on his shoes) and was pleasant.

They were on time. If they were running late they kept me informed and they even told me that they were five or ten minutes away. I thought that their price was very competitive. They were efficient, clean, polite, and friendly and informative.

AFTER RICK LEFT, I BOUGHT and INSTALLED A NEW THERMOSTAT. PART OF THE PROBLEM WAS SOLVED; HOWEVER, I HAD TO READ THE CIRCUIT DIAGRAM ON THE FURNACE TO FIGURE OUT THAT RICK HAD REWIRED THE PRESSURE SWITCH (WHICH HE CALLED THE CO DETECTOR) WRONG. RICK HAD WIRED THE TWO SIDES OF THE SWITCH TO (NO, NC) INSTEAD OF (NO,C). AFTER FIXING THIS, THE FURNACE WORKED FINE. I LOOKED THE COMPANY UP IN THE BBB BY THEIR PHONE NUMBER. THEY HAVE A NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS AND DIFFERENT BUSINESS NAMES. I CALLED A MORE REPUTABLE COMPANY TO CHECK THE FURNACE OUT. THE REPORT WAS THAT THE FURNACE WAS FINE. I CALLED THE COMPANY TO COMPLAIN AND GET MY MONEY BACK. THEY SAY THEY'LL INVESTIGATE, BUT THEY NEVER CALL BACK. RIGHT NOW, THEY WON'T TALK TO ME ON THE PHONE. I CAN'T RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY. THEY MAY BE FINE IF YOU BUY A NEW FURNACE, BUT THEY DON'T SEEM HONEST ENOUGH TO MAKE A REPLACE OR REPAIR DECISION.

Considering how many people were affected by this storm, the responsiveness from Affordable Heating and Cooling was surprising! I specifically wanted to view bad parts because I knew from past experience. This was very important! Yes I understand the need to hurry but I was right there.
