When I applied for the loan, the back office was less than friendly. Actual process was done via Fed Ex letters and was a bit difficult. I've used the line of credit several times. On one occasion I required immediate funds. The local branch on Elliot and 51st was very accommodating and set me up with a cashiers check. Since my house appreciated a lot, I decided to ask for an increased loan limit. I called the 800 number and was told my line was canceled. Since I've always paid my account on time and currently had zero balance, I was very surprised. The bank didn't have a reason and said to call another # next week for further information. I called back and they told me I had sold my house. Their fraud detection people had confused a Quit Claim I performed on a piece of raw land in another county as my own personal residence. I went to the local branch and they weren't very helpful. All they wanted was for me to re-apply for a new line. So I took my business elsewhere.

WE WERE ALREADY WELLS FARGO MORTGAGE CUSTOMERS AND HAD NO COMPLAINTS, SO WHEN WE DECIDED TO GET A HOME EQUITY LOAN, WE EXPECTED THAT OBTAINING A LOAN WITH THEM WOULD BE THE MOST PAINLESS WAY TO GO. TWO WEEKS AFTER SPENDING MORE THAN AN HOUR ON THE PHONE WITH A LOAN ADVISOR GOING OVER LOAN OPTIONS, WE RECEIVED OUR PAPERWORK IN THE MAIL TO FIND THAT THE TERMS WERE NOT WHAT WE HAD NEGOTIATED AND WE WOULD HAVE TO DO A COMPLETE REFI TO GET THE TERMS WE NEEDED. BY THAT TIME, THE INTEREST RATE HAD GONE UP, THEY WANTED AN APPLICATION FEE, AND WE WOULD NEED A NEW APPRAISAL. THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ENOUGH TO MAKE US LOOK ELSEWHERE, BUT BELIEVING THE WORST WAS OVER, WE STAYED WITH WELLS FARGO. ULTIMATELY, WHAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN AN EASY REFI TURNED INTO THE MOST GRUELLING LOAN PROCESS WE'VE EVER ENDURED. WE HAD TO CONSTANTLY PESTER OUR LOAN OFFICER, IT TOOK TWICE AS LONG & COST MORE THAN IT SHOULD HAVE, AND WE DIDN'T EVEN HAVE OUR PAPERS UNTIL AN HOUR BEFORE CLOSING. A MESS FROM START TO FINISH!
