I hired them without getting an estimate because I had used them before and found the price to be competitive and the work to be excellent. I wanted it done quickly so I asked if they could by any chance come the next day. Big mistake. They honored my request, showed up as promised and did a great job. BEWARE THOUGH!!! If you live any distance from Arthur, IL....and they don't have another job in your town that day, you will be slapped with a big bill for their travel expenses. Obviously, it depends on distance, and I can only speak for Champaign residents, but I was charged an extra $240 just for their van (gas, maintenance, insurance, etc). I felt they should have told me this when I called them. $60 per trip times four trips came to $240. The total bill for a small job was $600. They should have told me up front about the surcharge for travel. I would have found local people to do it. Drywall is a skill and they do it well, but it's not brain surgery. If you live in Champaign or any place other than Arthur, be prepared for a significant mark-up due to their travel. I called the owner (who certainly flunked charm school) and tried to negotiate a 50/50 split on the travel costs but he would not budge. (as it so happens, they did not have any other jobs scheduled for my guy on the days that I needed him, and thus, they were not compromised by honoring my request to come the next day; though they used that as an excuse to justify the bill).
