My friend's Hyundai Sonata SE, 11 years old, 73,000 mi, $3000 value died out on &22. Repairs: $1,660. After the first drive the engine broke down again: overheating, engine coolant and ail leaks. After review the auto center did not provide a conclusive explanation for the reasons (maybe radiator leak) and declined any responsibility. The car was considered a total loss and supposed to be sold to a scrap dealer for a ridiculous amount of $200. As of today, no refund. Total loss for my friend: $4,890. The center does not care, High Labor rates, no responsibility for an oversight while testing and certainly no highly skilled mechanics.

Their service is very professional. We could have gone somewhere cheaper, but if there is any issue, they will take care of it. If needed, they will let you use a loaner car.

They have been just really good. They top off all the fluids in your car. When I come in it is nice that the windshield washer fluid is filled.

They may be a few more dollars than some places but their service makes up for it. They even provide a loaned car while personal car is being worked on. They always wash the car when they're done.

As always, the staff at Wheeling Auto Center serviced my vehicle as if it belonged to one of them. I have been a customer for many years. They have kept my eighteen year old vehicle running like it was brand new. No one touches my vehicle but me and the staff at Wheeling Auto Center.

This was my first service experience at Wheeling Auto Center.  I had taken my car here last year after the Lexus dealer gave me a list of "urgent"repairs.  Dave inspected the car and took it for a test drive.  He informed me that none of the recommended repairs were necessary and didn't charge me.  When my car was due for service this time, it was an easy decision to go back to Wheeling Auto.  The work was performed in a timely manner and clearly explained to me.  I was given a loaner overnight at no cost.

The workers are very friendly and they are prompt. I'm going through mixed feelings, sometimes I feel like they are high in price. It's the kind of thing that every time you take the car in they find something that needs repaired. I don't know if it really needs repaired or if it's getting more service so I'm not sure how I feel about them. Just a little trustworthy issues. My husband will probably still go there but I'm thinking about looking somewhere else.

I brought my car in at 7:00 am. to Wheeling Auto Center. I have had a mechanic on the south side of Chicago for 25 years.  They are reasonably priced not cheap and not over priced.  I have had a wonderful working relationship with that mechanic. Unfortunately I have moved to the north side of Chicago and had some car trouble.  The check engine light was flashing and I knew I had to find a mechanic closer that 40 miles away.  It was recommended that I not drive the car otherwise I would have traveled back to my other mechanic.  I wanted to find and develop a new working relationship with a local mechanic so I went to Wheeling Auto Center.  When I arrived I discussed my expectations and what I was looking for in a mechanic.  The first red flag for me was that they charge a diagnostic fee for checking the engine of $99.00.  I was skeptical and asked what the hourly charge was for labor.  The response was that it is different for every job.  I found that odd considering labor is labor whatever the job.  I was told that the diagnostic fee would not be applied to the work needing to be done.  I found that odd as well.  I have always had my car problems diagnosed and work done without an additional charge.  I know my mechanic will charge a fee if the work is not performed there.  So I was cautious.  I am a woman and know that I can be taken advantage of easily in the mechanic shop that is why I have loved my mechanic all of these years.  I must say I really appreciated the loaner car which I think is a wonderful perk. Tim was courteous and called within a couple of hours to tell me what was found.  I was told that I would need an ignition coil.  To replace one would be $590.00 complete. I was told that they would have to take of the manifold cover in order to change it and that they would recommend it I was going to keep the car that I replace all six coils for the sum of $1,290.00.  That once one coil goes out another could soon follow and that it was more labor intensive to take the manifold cover off so in order to save in the long run I should consider replacing all fo the six coils.  So that being said I discussed the possibility of my purchasing a new car etc. explored whether or not I should invest this kind of money into the car.  Tim gave me his formula on the cost and I told them I would call them back after contemplating what to do next.  I am a wise consumer and upon hearing the cost of repair called my mechanic to discuss what they would charge me for the work needed.  To my surprise I found out that the coil and labor would cost me $230.00 complete. I also found out that there are 3 coils that are hard to reach and if I wanted to replace them to save on labor to add $160.00 for additional parts.  I was shocked at the difference in cost.  So I knew that they would not be working on my car and that I was going to be price gouged if I had the work done there.  So I called Tim and told him what I had found out.  I discussed the cost of the diagnostic and how I feel it is not good customer service to charge that fee if the work were to be performed by them. He disagreed.  When I arrived to pick up my car I was told that the diagnostic they told me on the phone was wrong and that the coil that was bad was not under the manifold after all and that the price adjustment was made in the computer however, he never told me what the change in cost would be.  He felt it better not to call me because he didn't want to interrupt me at work.  That comment was just foolish considering if the price was going to be less I would want to know and I place my phone on silent whenever I am at work and he could have left a voicemail message.  So I picked up my car paid the diagnostic fee and left.  I was so disappointed with the end result.  I knew when I started my day I was going to get a lesson because I was a woman looking for a mechanic.  I did get that lesson.  I am not sure I can trust the diagnostic testing now that they made such a mistake.  Anyway, I will not be returning to Wheeling Auto Center.  They are too high priced for me.  I found a local mechanic that will be performing the job today and the total cost will be to replace one coil, will be $200.00 with labor. My what a difference in price.  I must say the waiting room at Wheeling Auto Center is lovely and that the uniforms that the employees wear are nice. However, the price for service is what pays for all the extras.  It pays to do your homework.  I will not be returning for service on my car here again.  And the price I paid for the lesson was $99;00.  I am so glad that it wasn't $399.00 for the cost of their repairs.  Too pricey for me.  I work hard for my money and want a fair price when it come to car repair.  Unfortunately you won't get it at Wheeling Auto Center.

I have been taking my car here for 3 years. They do great work. They give you a free loner car if you need. My only complaint is that they are not open on Saturdays. The technicians make good suggestions and give several different options for what you can do for different services. I usually schedule ahead of time for a service.

It was a recommendation from one of my girlfriend. I have been going to them for a couple of times, and they are absolutely wonderful. They do a nice job, and they are very friendly. I am not put on hold or anything like that.  I have had them do bigger things previous times, and it has all worked out very well. I am very happy with them.
