Overall I was satisfied with the results. Dave and his crew were professional, friendly and above all honest. When he saw that two of the windows that were already in the house were better than the ones we were putting in he brought this to our attention. These two new windows were then returned to Menards where they were purchased.
The job was much more complex than had been envisioned. The window frames were not square and each one had been framed differently. Dave and his crew took the extra time on each window to make sure it was done properly which took more time than had been estimated in the quote.
The outside of the house also created a problem seeing that each side of the house had a different exterior. Two walls were a cedar type panel while two other walls were board and batton. Dave took the time to ask me exactly how I wanted him to trim out the outside of the windows. This ended up with some more custom finishing which he did without complaint.
When the job was finished Dave said that we needed to sit down to work out what I still owed him. Seeing that windows were returned the overall cost was reduced and even though it took more time and materials to install the windows that part of the quote did not change. We were able to come to a very equitable finishing cost. I do think that after this job Dave just might swear off putting in replacement windows from now on :)
