We moved into a newer home that was just about 10 years old but had issues with major ice damming and icicles due to heavy snow. This led to water damage inside of the house as the ice was melting and making its way inside our home. I had multiple quotes from several roofing outfits and they just eyeballed the situation and wanted to simply re-do the flashing. Most did the assessment from the street without going on the roof. None offered a guarantee. I came across Swistun on the net and found that they required a fee to assess the issue. I was a bit hesitant but went ahead anyways and i am very glad i did. The owner Casey came out and spent time not only on the roof but also inside of the attic to see what the cause might be. An assessment was made and a very detailed and illustrated solution/proposal was created with several options including ones with guaranteed no-leak options. Construction was done last summer and Casey was there for the majority of the work done. His crews were on time and kept the grounds clean. It was completed within the time frame since weather cooperated with us. He also took care of a gutter leak for free while he had his crew out. Everything looked great in the end as he had to do some construction to widen an exit of my roof valley to provide better drainage. After completion, Casey even stopped by after a heavy rain just to make sure things were draining correctly and made some adjustments to correct a potential issue. Mind you, this was after i paid the bill so it wasn't something i was expecting as a followup. You can tell he has a passion for problem solving. The big test was the following winter. Even after the early winter snowstorm that dropped an incredible amount of snow in a short period of time, the icicles and ice dams never formed. The solution worked brilliantly well! Also on a side note, the process was very easy throughout the entire project as Lori is the main contact person in his office and is very easy to communicate with. Casey is also very responsive. Wish all companies worked in this manner! I wouldn't consider them a bargain comparing to a regular roofer. However, if you want your roof leak situation fixed correctly, this is the way to do it! Swistun is a class act from start to finish!

The work was done very well. The quality was excellent. It was by no means a rush job, which I liked, because Casey is very detailed oriented. It had to be done to mine and his satisfaction. I bought up a potential problem with the flat roof on the sunroom. Casey came up with a solution I was happy with. He takes you through the whole process. He came back on his own time weeks AFTER the work was done to make sure the siding on the garage had a tighter fit. He didn't like the way the last layer fit. So he had his carpenter fix it. I am a very happy homeowner! Thank you, Casey.

They now require a non-refundable deposit to perform an estimate for the work. I had to pay $300 which was applied to the cost of the job. Not a fan of this. Took a couple of weeks before they were able to come out and provide an estimate. Luckily the roof wasn't leaking so this wasn't a problem. Because it was a small job which would take less than 1 day to complete, it took about 6 weeks before they came out to perform the work because they were able to do another small job on the same day. I've had them do work twice before. The quality of their work has been outstanding and very professional.

Casey Swistun has done work for us before ... building a difficult skylight, and once more he did not disappoint. He came in to look at the job, arrived promptly when he promised, did the work, and cleaned up ... all seamlessly. In our experience, he is a superb worker/business owner as well as a talented "problem solver." The latter was important because the manufactured size of the skylights was slightly different than the ones he removed, and so he had to be clever enough to make it look like they are the same. He did exactly that!

Casey (company president) responded immediately to my request for a quote and was able to send a crew out to do the work within a few days of my receiving the quote. Casey and his crew arrived around 8:00 a.m. and started setting up scaffolding in front of the areas that would require the installation. All previously installed plastic gutter guards were removed. All gutters had to be lowered about 2.5" to accommodate the new gutter guards. Two-man crew worked around 5.5 hours installing all the gutter guards. Once the work was completed, all trash was removed and work areas cleaned. I have worked with Casey and his staff before on roof repairs and skylight installation and it is once again a pleasure to have such courteous, efficient, and professional people work at my home. They do a great job and I would definitely use them and recommend them for future work.

Swistun had done previous repair on my roof so I contacted Casey (the owner) to get an estimate of the repair needed to correct the leak in the ceiling of my living room. As usual, Casey responded almost immediately and came to my home to give me an estimate. He prepared a very detailed estimate of the costs and itemized exactly what work would be needed to correct the problem. On the day the work was actually scheduled, Casey arrived with Mark and indicated that Mark would be doing all the work. Mark went up on the roof and spent the entire day working on the repair. He returned the next morning to complete the job. Casey came back to do a follow up check to make sure all of the work was done properly. It is an absolute pleasure to deal with people like Casey and Mark - people who are knowledgeable, courteous, and accommodating and who take pride in what they do. I would recommend Swistun, Inc, and Casey and his entire team highly for any roof repairs you might need.

We have used Swistun for over 20 years. Casey Swistun supervises all work. His proposal is detailed in terms that are easily understood. Swistun provides a check to the homeowner for up to $500 to hold until final inspection and complete satisfaction. All workers are very professional, work very clean and are very respectful. We use Swistun every time we need work done.

Casey came on time (although a little early) on his first visit. He did a thorough inspection of the roof , first with me from the ground, and then he climbed to the roof for a closer look. He also checked my attic. He gave me what repairs are needed (renail some lifted shingles and replace ridge vent shingles) and gave me a quote later that day. Casey was accessible by email or phone for any further questions. On the scheduled day of work, he dropped off materials and gave instructions to his roofers. He stopped by the next morning, climbed up the roof to inspect the completed work to make sure nothing was missed and removed the garbage bag of replaced shingles. Overall, Casey was very polite and answered any questions I had. He was also thorough with his inspections. The work was on the expensive side but I felt that it was worth it based on the quality and the service and advice provided. I will be calling him again for roof inspection and roof replacement.

The only reason the price was below "A" is because of the non-refundable deposit for an estimate, which probably rubs some the wrong way. Reading the other reviews, however, I felt that if Casey was willing to estimate the project, he probably thought it was worth doing, so it was not an issue for me. I contacted Casey in October 2015 and the work was done in late August 2016. The delay into 2016 was by mutual agreement due to the cold weather; however, we initially settled on June, then August as some larger products filled his schedule. I am not begrudging that, just pointing out that if you have a small project like I did, it may be rescheduled. As for the work, everything went well. The crew seemed to enjoy their work, and Casey showed up at the appropriate times during the project. He was very personable and answered every question, even today, 2 months after the work was done. I will give updates as needed.

Casey Swistun is a one of a kind contractor. Initially, we took bids for a new roof on our 110 year old house. Casey's bid was the most expensive. But we never even considered the other two offers after seeing how he worked. Casey was the only one who actually brought a ladder and went up on our roof prior to preparing his estimate. He was at our house for nearly 2 hours, taking pictures, looking at every single part of the roof, and making notes. A few days later, a detailed proposal arrived. The other two roofers we contacted gave us generic estimates without even going up on the roof. Our house had four layers of shingles and numerous areas where water was getting in and causing damage. Prior roofers had done "hack jobs" on our old house, covering up their bad work with roofing tar. There was extensive repair work that was needed once the old layers were removed. Casey anticipated every potential problem and attacked the new problems that were revealed. Casey was trained as an engineer and approaches every problem like one. He spent hours of his time talking to me about every issue, drawing diagrams and explaining every bit of work that had to be done. He was never too busy to talk or get back to me when I had questions. He was at the job site nearly every morning at 7 am sharp to tell me what would be done that day and to talk about the details of the work. Casey had three different crews who worked at our house - the main roofers, the commercial roofers for areas of flat roof, and the siding crew, plus a chimney expert. He coordinated everyone and there was no delay in moving from crew to crew. All of the crews were excellent, especially the siding crews (Mark and Mark) who were true old world professionals - so patient and thorough. Part of our work was to repair wind damage, and we had an insurance claim for that part. Casey took the lead in contacting and communicating with our claims adjuster, sending him pictures and diagrams in an effort to make sure we got as much of the damage paid for as possible. Even after the job was done and Casey had been paid, he took the time to send the insurance company additional pictures and a description of work he had done that he thought should have been covered. I have never had a contractor who took the time to do something like this, for my benefit, not his. At the end of the job, Casey put together a thorough description of all extra work he had to do (which I had approved along the way) and a package of materials with all my warranty information, etc. Again - I have never had a contractor do this before. Casey is truly one of a kind. He handled the job like it was his own house. He was obsessive about every detail, and he worked to solve every problem. I can't imagine, now, how those other roofers would have handled this job. Our old house and garage have now been given a wonderful facelift. It will look like it did 110 years ago once we finish getting it painted! Casey was referred to me by a neighbor who had an equally excellent experience with Swistun, and I am so glad that I was able to work with Casey. If he agrees to take on your project, you can be sure that it will be done right, no matter how difficult or time-consuming it is.

The project went great.  A+ for level of professionalism, especially those we had contact with (Casey and Becca).  Communication was above and beyond - another A+.  And I could probably give cost an 'A', but the tiles were so expensive - but not Swistun's fault.  And in fact, they had estimated the work would take two workers a full 8 hour day and they actually finished in 4.5 hours.  This saved us money on labor ($720 for labor and $200 for additional material).  Overall we are very satisfied with the work. The professionalism and level of communication are what stand out the most.

Casey was conductor for gutter replacement & after inspecting the house inside & out recommended only a repair & over sized downspouts. This included rerouting some gutters & a secondary plan for roofing in the future. He was on the job site daily. His worker mark was tidy and left the job site clean. Becca in the office was pleasant & helpful. I would recommend this company.

As Condominium Association President of a 27 unit vintage building I give Swistun the highest recommendation. Our 100-year-old building has required solutions to complicated gutter and roof issues. Over the past six years Swistun has been the only entity able to identify not only the causes but also the solutions. Their work is of absolutely the highest standard and owner Casey completely backs up their work and is determined to make sure we are always completely satisfied. Swistun is outstanding in the services they provide.

He looked it over, spent a few minute diagnosing it, then basically said that a storm door might solve the problem.  He also said that the only 100% way to solve the water leak would be via major reconstruction.
He had a charge of $500 for this service, the idea being that some of this would also be credit for repair services.  However his subsequent quote for the storm door replacement was twice as expensive as others.  He basically pocketed the $500 for about 30 minutes of work, since i could not consider his repair quote as being reasonable.
I called him and gave him the chance to provide a refund, but he was 'professional' about it.
