We found the Pickard Group through Angie’s List. My family was looking for a realtor who could help us determine what needed to be done in order to sell a family member’s condo. We had intended to interview 3 realtors, but when we met Ron, we knew we wouldn’t find anyone more qualified. The first time we met with Ron, we were several months away from signing a real estate contract, but, nonetheless, Ron went through the condo and provided us with a list of improvements (install granite countertops, install new carpet, remove wallpaper, paint walls, install brushed nickel light fixtures and door/cabinet hardware) that he felt would significantly increase the sales price. Ron also provided us with a list of contractors we could use for any work we were not going to do ourselves. We did use four of the contractors Ron recommended; all of them were reliable, reasonably priced, and flexible in scheduling their work hours so that the remodel could stay on schedule. The real estate listing was extremely thorough. The interior/exterior photos and, in particular, the virtual tour provided a comprehensive view of the condo. Ron was always available throughout the selling process. He was in contact by phone, mail, or e-mail at least once a week reporting in on what the office was doing in order to get the condo sold. He was also diligent in monitoring the listing and sales activity on other units in the condo subdivision.

The Pickard Group ( Ron, Sue & David ) are simply the best at what they do. They helped us list our home in 2018, and even though we live in a different state, they made the process so stress-free and simple for us. My wife and I have had multiple experiences with Sue and Ron over the last 10 years, and ALL of them have been nothing but exceptional. We bought our first house in 2008 ( the same one we sold in 2018 ), and Ron was so patient with us through our multiple house viewings, endless questions, and overall lack of experience as we wavered several times on what we wanted to do. The advice and guidance they gave us was NEVER biased and was ever ONLY said with our best interest in mind. Ron and Sue became not just our realtors, but also our friends - through the birth of children and the loss of loved ones. In 2015, we bought another house in the Chicago area - and not only did Ron and Sue help us to buy that house, but also assisted us with renting out our current house ( which was another process we had never gone through ). Then, suddenly in 2016, we had to move to Georgia, and Ron and Sue were right there to help us sell our house, keep renting our current house AND assisted with finding us a realtor they trusted in Georgia. Without their help through that move in 2016, I am not sure we would have navigated through that as easily as we did. Lastly, as the market began to bounce back in 2018, we decided to sell the first house we bought with them, and once again Ron and Sue really came through for us. They took care of helping us find contractors to fix up the house, get it listed and then SOLD ( above our asking price! ) in under 2 days. It was truly remarkable and only possible through their help. My wife and I have recommended Ron and Sue to multiple friends in the Chicago-area over the years, and ALL of them have only ever had positive feedback. In addition, most of them have in turn recommended Ron and Sue to their friends. Ron and Sue are extremely professional, experienced and GREAT at what they do. They make the arduous task of buying/selling a home very simple and straightforward, and they truly care about you as an individual and family over being a client of theirs. We would recommend Ron, Sue and David to ANYONE looking to buy or sell a home - whether it is your first or 10th time.

Sue and Ron provided outstanding service during the sale of my home. They were on top of every step from advising how to prep the house through listing, sale and closing. My house closed 33 days after listing. The results speak for themselves!

Ron and Sue helped with two sales and two purchases over a 10 year period, plus my sister and friends with purchases more recently. Their guidance from initial process education, search and select, and negotiations was excellent. They operated within the confines of my situation and requirements while not being afraid to share their candid opinion to ensure I understood the full implications of a decision. Time was no object; whatever it took get the right outcome was what I got. We've kept in touch and I even run the occasional home improvement decision by them for advice. My family has no plans of moving soon, but whenever the time comes they'll be getting the call. Meanwhile, if friends and family members need to move, I give them Ron's phone number.

Our house sold in 10 days! They walked us through every room and told us what buyers were looking for and how to stage it. We got a great price! They were very helpful in finding our new home and gave us great advice! Highly recommend them!

David was professional, friendly, extremely knowledgeable and a great negotiator. He had our best interests in mind from day one. He helped us find the perfect home and negotiated a great price for us. He is also very knowledgeable in various mechanics of a home and was able to answer every question we had. We highly recommend the Pickard Group, they will be our realtors for life!

The Pickard Group was excellent to work with! Our home search took quite a few turns due to our budget and a bustling local market. The Pickards were extremely helpful and responsive in guiding us first-time buyers through any twists! They are extremely knowledgeable about the Chicago suburban area along with providing excellent advice on homes themselves, especially regarding potential repairs and issues being conscious of our budget. I HIGHLY recommend working with them to buy or sell your home!

They are simply the best real estate professionals we have ever used. Their thoroughness in every aspect of the sale was impressive. From their advice in getting our home ready  to their support of the listing and handling of the negotiations they exceeded our expectations at every stage.
Even after the sale closed, they helped us with a few "loose ends" during our move to a new area.

We were buying our first home. We worked with Susan Pickard. At the time we were okay with the service provided, but looking back a year and a half from now, we realized that we should have chosen a different real estate agent. Susan was too busy, had too much going on, we felt rushed, and we were made to feel like our budget was too low. Our budget was not on the high side (about 200k), but we were in a good buyer's market at the time, yet the house we ended up getting was pretty mediocre. Susan gave us very little foresight on important things to watch out for. Looking back I very much feel like we just shot in the dark to find our house. In fact, the second half of our time was spent with her son, who took over for her while she went on vacation. The house still looks pretty crappy, and the seller got away with things he shouldn't have (he never got the house inspected by the village, so we had to do that after the sale and it's been a long and entangled process). I would have thought this is exactly the sort of thing you get a real estate agent to steer you away from. Their marketing is annoying. It's been a 1.5 years and we're still getting mail almost every week from them. They have great reviews on here because they send all their clients gift cards after your work with them, so I feel like it makes people feel guilty about writing an honest review. My advice to potential buyers out there is to visit at least 3 real estate agents before signing with one. Don't let them rope you in the first visit. That's what happened to us and now this life-altering event (our first home) will forever be questioned by us as a "what if we could have done better?" type of situation. Whatever fee they collected from the seller (probably around 3k) was way too much.

Ron was able to sell our house quickly and for more value than we ever imagined. We were out of state during the whole process and Ron took care of everything! Highly recommend Ron to sell your house.

We purchased our first home and it went amazing smooth! We worked mainly with Ron during the whole process.

We met with Ron on a Saturday (weekend hours were great!) and he took about 3 hours to explain and answer any questions we had (which were a lot since we were newbies). No pressure to commit to him as our agent but my husband and I didn't even need to sleep on it. We signed with Ron right after the meeting. He has an enormous wealth of knowledge and always refereed great people to use during the process. We received a binder with tons of info that we would always refer back to.

We started to look at home and saw about 5-10 homes during each outing. I think it took us about 5 viewings to find the home we wanted (mainly because we switched the city we wanted to live in). Always on time and very professional and personable (we enjoy cracking a few jokes!)

They always made sure to keep us updated and in touch throughout the process and even during the closing phase. We received communication via email and mail which we found to be very helpful.

The closing went very smooth and they gave us a very thoughtful care package! 

We have refereed him to another couple friend of ours and they just closed on their first home as well! I would highly recommend the Pickard group! When it's time to to move we will use them again!

 

We live in Virginia but that didn't cause any issues. Ron did a fantastic job and keep in touch with us every step of the way. He suggested the listing price and we closed at a price that was great. Along the way, he let us know what was happening, when the condo was seen, and what the reviews were. He recommended the attorney and helped keep the sale moving forward so that we even closed early! They knew exactly what they were doing, made extra efforts to promote the condo via mailing the information about it to people in the neighborhood, and made sure that everything went smoothly. They were just fantastic.

First of all I am thankful for reviews on Angie's list. Without them we may not have found Ron Pickard to help us sell our parents house. When our parents passed away we were left with the daunting task of cleaning out 40 + years of possessions, updating their house, and listing it for sale. We called Ron at the start of our process. He came to the house and tactfully discussed with us the initial steps we needed to take to clear the house out and prepare it for repairs and updating. He stayed in touch with us throughout the process. When the day finally came that the house was in better order he came back again to see our progress and offer his thoughts on updating. He provided us with contractors that were not only timely and talented but were also the most price competitive we could find. He handled the majority of the scheduling and kept in contact with the contractors we were using. It was a very easy process for us at a very emotional time. Once repairs/updates were complete Ron returned and reevaluated the property and our listing price. He guided us through the entire process from start to finish. He gave us guidance when we counter offered. We sold our parents house at a great price in a short amount of time. When the inspection revealed some additional work we needed to do, Ron again was there for us with contractors that could make the repairs quickly, at a great price, and did not hold up the closing process. We are using Ron again to sell another house now and will contact him in the future for all our real estate needs. We would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a realtor that excels. His marketing tools are phenominal. Thank you Angie's list and thank you Ron Pickard.

Ron is an exemplary real estate agent. He is very personable, patient, and thorough in everything he does. I am a first time buyer and he provides his expertise every step of the way from evaluating each house to preparing for closing costs. He is responsive and punctual. He is always pleasant and looks out for your best interest.

They did not charge us anything. They are very flexible. We had to look at houses like two hours after they lifted and they are always available. I would use them again in the future and I have recommended them to others.

Ron was very professional as I met with him to go over the process and steps needed for selling my condo. I followed his advice each step of the way. Susan also helped me with looking at the rooms in the condo and made suggestions on furniture arrangement that would help show the condo's features to prospective buyers. I was pleasantly surprised at how soon we had an offer. Overall, it was a great experience.

Sue Pickard is amazing.  We weren't exactly sure what we were looking for, and Sue found numerous listings for us and took us out to see them all over the course of several weeks.  I can't believe she remained so patient with us (and our two rambunctious children), yet she did.  She provided excellent advice; I'm convinced that without her we would have ended up spending a lot more for a house that wasn't just right.  When we finally did find the perfect house and decided to make an offer, we happened to be out of town.  Sue worked with us late into the evening so we could sign the contract electronically and get our escrow to the seller via wire transfer.

Ron and Sue are lovely people.  Ron has helped my wife in the past with previous real estate transactions, so it was natural for us to go back to them with our most recent moves.  He's just a really great guy who's very approachable and knows the market very well.  We were able to find a buyer relatively quickly after placing it on the market with them and Ron offered sound advice throughout the negotiation process.  Once we sold, they were also very patient with us as we sifted through what was available to us, and we found a new home that we truly love.  We'd happily recommend Ron and Sue to anyone we know.

Sue came over and she was extremely pleasant.  She was very informative and very encouraging.  She was just really easy to work with and talk to.  I felt like I was talking to an old friend.  She got back with a quote to list the house probably within a day or two.  She went back to her office and compared all the stuff.  I am definitely going to use her.
