MEADOWS ELECTRIC INC

Meadows Electric installed my original attic fan 9 years ago with no problem so when the fan stopped working the logical choice was to call the same company. Since I was at work during the day, my wife proceeded to call the company to set up a visit. One of the electricians (or the only electrician) called back and stated there would be a $75 fee to come to the house and look at the fan. He never mentioned that there would be any additional fees. When the electrician arrived at the house he then asked for an additional $269 to inspect the fan. My wife was very confused by this request and since she could not get a hold of me at work she unfortunately agreed to this outrageous fee. Several minutes later he was done inspecting the fan and the conclusion he reached was that it didn't work. Genius! So for $344 I was told the fan didn't work and for an additional $650 he could install a new fan at a later time. 1/2 hour of his time cost me $344. Wow! That is definitely better than the rate of pay I get at my work. Overall this was a very unpleasant and upsetting experience with an unethical electrician who was obviously trying to take advantage of a female who was not very experienced dealing with the situation. The following morning I called the electrician and left him a message. I told him I was not happy with the outrageous fee. I expected he would call back and try to rectify the situation however I never heard any response from him. He was good at one thing though; he was very good at cashing my check very quickly. It goes without saying that I will not use Meadows Electric to install the new fan.
