They came on time. The estimate went very smoothly. I chose a different provider for this work, but this company seems easy to work with.

During heavy downpours we were getting water in the house and coming into the basement through the top of the foundation.  Arthur came out the day after I called him, and recommended sealing our brick facade as well as caulking around the windows.  He provided an estimate a few days later.  His suggestion was in line with two other estimates/suggestions we received from other companies, however Joseph James proposed to do if for much less.  We also had Joseph James address a couple small cracks in the mortar near a couple windows, and a some cement work at the top of our chimney. The workers showed up on the morning of the agreed upon project start date.  They did a good job of applying the sealant and addressing the other issues.  They were very thorough in their caulking of the window sills.  Since the work has been done we have not gotten any water in the house or basement.  I'd work with the company again.

I have been very happy with their work. They are very reasonable for the quality of the work they do and they were very accommodating. It was a long process, partly because so many homes were having this type of work done at the time. So if I had been under a deadline or felt that it needed to be done quickly, I may have been disappointed. I was more concerned about the work being done well. I had one little concern about the siding not quite meeting the eaves and a squirrel getting in my crawl space, but they came out right away and fixed it. The house looks great. I believe they have a wide range of capabilities and I would definitely use them again.

Their estimates are good. The work they do is very good. They are very professional and reliable. We trust them. We would absolutely use them again.

Awesome! They are so professional, responsive, I thought the price was great considering such a huge amount of work. They did it fast, when they said they would. If I had anything else to fix, I'd hire them again in a heartbeat. The foremen, Arthur and Andy, are very knowledgeable and easy to work with.

I recommended them to somebody else who used them. The fellow that came out was really good. He brought roof colors and explained the whole process. He was really easy to work with; it was good working with him. Overall my experience was excellent. His price was competitive.

They did a good job overall. The worker was both timely and courteous.

We had a leak under our front porch that was allowing water to seep into the basement. This required that the existing brick stoop be removed in order for the area to be waterproofed before resetting the brick stoop and walk. Arthur and his crew picked up the new brick for us at a discount and did an excellent job resetting the stoop and the walk. He even made a special trip to the brick supplier to get a coordinating stone so that they could create the decorative trim that I wanted. The walk and stoop look great and so far the leak seems to be fixed. Arthur did promise to come back if we have any further problems.

Overall, it went very well. Very professional and the work is excellent. My only knock would be that they are sometimes a bit hard to get a hold of, but it's usually because they are working and not answering their cell phones or sitting at their computers. Would definitely use again.

Overall I was very pleased with Joseph James and the work they did. Initially we had some minor communications difficulty over scheduling the work but after we cleared it up, Arthur at JJ was very easy to work with and we had no further problems. Arthur did a good job in finding the right materials for my job. The house is 50+ years old and matching the brick exactly was an impossibility but he made several different trips to bring me samples of brick until we found one that was satisfactory to me. Even though the size of the brick is different than the original, the color match is very good and since the work JJ did was above the roofline and the roofline broke the line between the original chimney and the new chimney, it is very difficult to tell there is any difference between the two. The two men who did the work for JJ were efficient and professional. They respected my property and plantings in setting up the scaffolding to access the chimney and they cleaned up after themselves. Arthur took care of all of the permitting with the village and also quickly took care of a minor issue that the village required to be remedied prior to approving the work. I would recomend Joseph James without reservation.

awesome! there were some delays and a few miscommunications, but this spring and early summer was pretty rainy so i think they got a bit backed up, but i was flexible and they worked around my summer vacation schedule, too. bottom line, they did extraordinary work at a great price. i did the roof at the same time with their sister company, nyberg exteriors, who i also rate with all a's. arthur and andy, the foremen, were very knowledgable, explained everything to me in detail, and the whole BIG job went really well. my house is happy! it took a little longer than i expected, but isn't that to be expected? i'm completely satisfied and will hire them again to work on my basement over the winter.

The two workers did a very good job and took time to answer questions I had. The workers walked around the house and filled in any problem mortar spots they located, they didn't have too it was not part of the contract. I felt pretty good about that. At the end of the job we walked around the house and showed me everything they had done.

Overall the experience was great. Arthur at Joseph James was very responsive to my calls for an estimate. He & his coworker arrived promptly for the estimate & reviewed the situation thoroughly. They followed up quickly with a detailed estimate. Arthur was very responsive to my questions and provided explainations and even added additional elements within the same cost. The company was willing to provided a 3 year warranty for the work which gave our condo association complete comfort in moving forward. It is nice to work with a company with confidence in their work but also willing to provided a warranty if adjustments are necessary. Arthur was very accommodating to setting up the time for the work to be completed. Arthur arrived promptly with his team to completed the work. The team worked hard the entire day, even touching up areas on the wall that were not discussed....just to go above and beyond! The quality of the work looks fantastic and I am hopeful & VERY optimistic that the next major rain storm will come & go with out any issue in our building. We would use them again.

It was an excellent experience - they did exactly what they said they would do at the price we were quoted.

They built the chimney on Wednesday, August 25. They came back on Saturday, August 29 and did the liner. They had to re-route the heating ducts leading from the furnace to be able to make the tie-ins to the chimney. This caused them to take linger than they anticipated to get the job done. I was impressed with their ingenuity in getting this done. Arthur was excellent! He kept me informed every step of the way. He was polite and din't talk down to us. I was especially impressed with how clean they left the areas. The old chimney had crumbling bricks, but when I went to clean up the following day, I couldn't find anything. This was a first class job.!

Arthur and his team did an excellent job at a good price. They worked quickly (without compromising quality) and were flexible around my schedule. They went above and beyond what I asked for, like making sure my siding near my chimney was sealed. I especially appreciated their willingness to hear and look at my concerns of a leaky roof near the chimney and they assured me if it wasn't completely fixed, they would be back to address it.

We talked about the job and therer were a few things I wanted specifically. My old sidewalk just kind of ended toward the house and I wanted to change it and they said no problem. They suggested a few things. They had a slight delay because of the weather but it was no big deal. They poured the sidewalk later and everything was fine. We got other quotes that were priced much, much higher. They even came back a few weeks later and did some sealing right near the base of the sidewalk where it connects to the house. It did take us a few emails to get things going. In fact, I emailed them recently for another quote and they still haven't gotten back to me.

Original contract estimate provided 5/13/10, signed contract 5/21/10, with work to begin in 2 -4 weeks. Actually occurred 34 days from contract. Trying to coordinate between other contract work and the masonry was difficult without a firm commitment date until the Friday before work was performed. Not a major issue, but an inconvenience. A weekly update status would have been helpful after 2-3 weeks of signing the contract. The work performed was OUTSTANDING and exceeded my expectations.

First they took out the deteriorating mortar where necessary and refilled with new mortar. They matched the color very well, which was a major concern with any spot tuck-pointing. For the front of the house that is adjacent to my patio - they wound up doing the entire wall so that it would all match. The work looks great. They were on-time and very courteous. They cleaned up after themselves. I was very pleased with the work. This company is responsive, and very professional.

They have been out several times to do repair work. They were reasonably priced. We had three estimates and theirs was within the normal range.

They did a great job, very happy with the results. Did have some back and forth calls for scheduling due to weather. They not only put back the antennae but put back the satellite dish so that we could get the Hawks game until we could get the satellite company out to reallign the dish. Very little disruption while they worked.

Originally, they were only going to tuckpoint the top part of the chimney where I knew there was no mortar. They were also going to pour a new crown on the chimney, and clean and repair some effloresence. They ended up doing all that AND MORE!! As they dug into the chimney, they discovered the ENTIRE THING needed to be tuckpointed. So they did it! And they did a BEAUTIFUL job!! Here's the best part -- they didn't charge me for the extra work! It was an extra 1/2 day at least.
