I purchased about 1,000 sq. ft. of laminate flooring from Home Depot with installation. HD chose G.S. Floor Designs, Inc., 845 W University Dr., Arlington Heights, IL 60004, to do the installation. Once GS finally started the project, there was one delay after another. The job that was scheduled to take a week in June was not done until August 1. By the time I was done with GS, I ended up having to pay about $3,000 more than the original installation quote. The work was also poorly done. When GS said the installation was complete, it looked terrible because they had not installed the thresholds or the small molding that is customarily installed to conceal the edges of the floor boards where the floor met the exterior walls of the apartment. When I insisted upon the molding, I had to pay more and the job took another month. After the installer repeatedly failed to show up to complete the job when promised, I had to hire someone else to finish it and touch up the paint. (The GS workmen had also left the newly-painted walls in terrible shape.) GS denied my claim for compensation for the poor quality of work, failing to finish the job, the significant under-estimate of the installation costs and the horrible delays. I did not hear anything from Home Depot after GS denied my claim. By the way, I have had very good experience using Lowes for projects like this. Go there!

HORRIBLE 5-6 month experience Started Oct 2020 ended ..well ends when I hire a PROFESSIONAL to fix a redo that was now made worse... 2 sets of stairs left unfinished from Oct 2020 to Jan 2021 .. 2 stairs left unfinished Jan 2021 to March2021 wrong ordering by HD wrong measuring how many times does GS have to visit to figure out ??? SLOPPY SLOPPY job.. delays. finger pointing ..bad quarter round and thresholds uneven floors did not advise extra cost to make them right Smear caulk in cracks Unmasked every visit except last visit in March had a mask this time however you are not masked unless you wear it properly covering your nose not under.... Big disappointment something that should have brought happiness definitely has not On top of that sarcastic comment with a LAUGH directed at me the paying customer who has put up with delays excuses sloppy unfinished job for all this time??? PROFESSIONAL!! BEWARE people save your money and time. Read other reviews and the BBB. The bad outweighs the good!

Not a good experience. Damaged walls, left my home dirty, did not grout properly, took four days longer then promised, did not remove all their trash.

We purchased carpet from Home Depot and they used G S Floor Designs as their installation contractor. I can't comment on the quality of the carpet yet, because the installation was just this week. We ordered the carpet in store from Home Depot and were told that the installers will call us to schedule installation when they receive the carpet and padding. We were contacted by G S Floor Designs about a week later, and we scheduled the installation. They were able to schedule it for a date that was convenient for me, although an earlier date was also available. On the morning of the installation day, we got a call from their office with the exact two-hour window to expect the installers. They arrived on time and completed the work. The installers were professional and efficient. Everything was done as we had discussed. They moved the furniture where needed and cleaned everything after installation. We are very happy with the results.

Run! Run far away from Home depot and GS Floor Designs! Purchase your flooring elsewhere unless you don't mind chasing down a a company to find out they're not coming to install your floors on the day THEY set up. Communication with this company is beyond POOR! Over 2 months later and I'm still trying to GS Floor design to fix their mistakes. Return phone calls from this company are non existent. Save yourself time, money and piece of mind and go elsewhere.

Very happy with the customer service, work and finished product! G S Floor Designs called me to check-in to see if I was interested in moving my installation to an earlier date because they had some availability - which was great for me! The installers showed up on time, did an excellent job, and went the extra mile by helping me move my dining room table back inside the house. I would recommend and use them again for my next flooring project!

Though the quality of the end product was fine, the process to get there was abysmal!  They are Home Depot's installation partner, so I'd expected at least mediocre service.  Issue #1 was the scheduling process.  They won't allow you to schedule an appointment until the hardwood arrives at Home Depot.  That sounds fine, but once it arrives at Home Depot, I had to schedule the appointment nearly 2 weeks out!  When they finally came, they told me that my floor was not level and it would cost $3,800 to level my floor (mind you, this is a 700 square foot apartment, and the initial installation cost was $3,000).  I could tell they were just being greedy, but they would not negotiate, and they knew I needed to get the floor installed quickly since I had already pulled up the carpets and was living on the concrete foundation.  I decided to bite the bullet reluctantly.  It took them another 2 weeks to actually get the floors installed.  What really p***** me off is that they sub-contracted the floor leveling, and the sub-contractor left me the invoice showing that they only charged GS Flooring $1,800.  This was highway robbery, and I would never recommend GS Flooring to my worst enemy!  They did nothing to help or provide good customer service; they were slow, added an insane amount of additional cost, and did a fine, not excellent, job on the install.  The actual installation process was a nightmare in itself and required re-work afterward, but I think all the factors above should be enough to show you that any other vendor would be better.

The original install went OK.  They originally wouldn't install a trim (for fear of damaging my existing floor tile) even though I was promised by HD on numerous occasions that they would.  They later came back and (Paul and Howard) finished the job.  Paul and Howard (the guys who came back to finish) were great, but the job wasn't complete for about 2 months after the original install.  The issue here was mainly with GS and HD not being on the same page from the start.  All in all, GS did a good job and I would hire them in the future if dealing directly through them.

The inital door installation appeared to be okay.  Before the installers left I cjecked out the door and found that when I opened the door (swings into the house) it would not stay open. The door swung back about 45 degrees, which was unacceptable to me. When opened, the door should stay open fully in the position that you left it.  When I told the installer about the problem and asked them if there was some sort of adjustment on the hinges for example, they told me no. There answer was to "put a magnet on the door stop to keep it open".  Not accepting this I called the installion company and was told that another crew would come out and look at the proble. Several weeks later a crew came out and spent over an hour trying to adjust the hinges to no avail. They told me that they would have to cut the ceramic tile on my kitchen floor to fix the problem. I told them absolutly not! I was thorooughly disgusted at this point and did not want this company back. Home Depot insisted that I give the company's  project manager a shot a fixing it. Over two weeks later he showed up and tried numerous things but could not fix the problem. He said that he would have to talk to andersen Windows about the problem. Two weeks past and still no word. I had to contact the Home Depot store again and I still do not have any answers. This proble has gone on for almost 2 months now and still no resolution. If you purchase any doors or windows from the Home Depot make sure that this company does not do the installation!i Their responsivness and customer service is horrible.

"Apologies to the member. Yes, there were issues with the quality of the Independent Contractor that completed the work; when we were informed of this, we did indeed have Ms. [member name removed]'s home professionally cleaned and worked very diligently with the insurance company to ensure she received swift service on her claim. When claim was completed, we did attempt several times to speak with Ms. [member name removed] to find out if there was anything else we could do to assist her. We absolutely appreciate her business and patience throughout the entire situation - hopefully, Ms. [member name removed] will allow us another opportunity to serve her in the future and win her trust with our attention to detail and uncompromising customer service."

I was so pleased and impressed with the whole job--start to finish--that I'll probably have Home Depot install new carpeting on another floor of the house, and possibly on the stairway too.

The installer moved our furniture, removed our carpeting and padding, prepped the floor, installed the hardwood flooring and trim, and moved our furniture back into place on the finished floor. The entire process took two days and was extremely well done.

THE WORK WAS DONE IN JUNE 2004 AND THE RECORD OF THE COST HAS SINCE BEEN LOST, BUT THE WORK THAT WAS DONE WAS MEMORABLY POOR. CARPET SEAMS WERE VISIBLE AND OBVIOUS DUE TO CLUMPED GLUE. THE WORKERS FORGOT TO INSTALL 2 OF THE TRANSITION STRIPS, AND THE STAIRCASE CARPET INSTALLATION WAS PARTICULARLY SLOPPY. COMMUNICATION FROM THE WORKERS WAS ONLY MEDIOCRE, AND THEY LEFT WITHOUT LETTING ANYONE KNOW THEY WERE DONE. SOME OF THE OLD CARPETING WAS LEFT ON OUR DECK AND PICKED UP THE NEXT DAY. WE FILED A COMPLAINT AND A MANAGER CAME OUT AND RE-DID BOTH OF THE STAIRCASES AND FIXED THE SEAMS. TO THE COMPANY'S CREDIT, AT LEAST THE MANAGER DID AN EXCELLENT JOB, AND HE IS THE ONLY REASON FOR THE C GRADE INSTEAD OF F.

"Apologies to the member- there's no reason for a customer to ever rate our company less and "A+". Although we can find no record of any issues brought to our attention, we have grown quite a bit since 2004 and hope the member would be able to give us another chance to win her business. We've refocused our efforts on not only supplying a flawless job but also to ensuring our customers receive the best possible service imaginable."

G.S. INSTALLED THE CARPETING I PURCHASED FROM HOME DEPOT. THEY WERE SPECTACULAR. BY FAR, THE BEST PRICE FOR INSTALLED CARPETING, AND THEY DID A FLAWLESS JOB IN A TRICKY, 90 YEAR OLD BASEMENT. I WOULD DEFINITELY USE THEM AGAIN INDEPENDENT OF HOME DEPOT.
