A Great Job

Their guidance in selecting cabinets, sinks, lighting, appliances, plumbing fixtures was very valuable as the choices available are overwhelming. They provided references for the contractors who did the actual remodeling. Projects were done on time and I am extremely happy with the new look (old kitchen was 1969 harvest gold and the bathrooms were equally dated).

The people here are very friendly and know what they are doing for sure! Unfortunately my designer is now gone but she was wonderful to work with, seemed to know my "style" and helped me greatly in the decision process. The contractor who did the work was GREAT! He was a perfectionist! and did wonderful work, was an all-around good guy. He also did some extra things "while he was there" for me. The kitchen is beautiful even if it is still small. I don't know how they compare cost wise as I did not really get another total estimate  for the entire job from anyone else. I think I got very good quality cabinets for the price I paid and the work couldn't have been better.

Everything went according to plan.  We used the painters and floor contractors Detail Kitchens worked with . We were very satisfied.

It's been a number of years since they remodeled our kitchen, and our bath is about 2 years old.  We still love both spaces, they're beautiful.  If you're thinking of hiring Detail Kitchens, do it - you won't be sorry!

Working with the team from Detail was a very good experience. They took the time to listen to what we wanted and worked closely with us to insure that the finished product met our requirements. They followed through on all commitments and stayed on schedule. We are completely happy with the result.

We are so glad that we did. They are very professional, customer focused and they have their use very skilled workers. They were done on time, the job site was always clean at the end of the day, there was very little dust even though some walls were removed. We really can't say enough good things about them. In 2012 we ordered replacement cabinets from them for a bathroom and they are still as helpful/professional as before.

Truly I cannot say enough about the staff of Detail Kitchens. It is a family business and they all really know their business. A few years ago Arlene and George helped me with the updating of my kitchen and I was very pleased with the result. Although they do not remodel bathrooms, they referred me to John Then, a tile contractor who helped me with the bathroom gut remodel.

It included everything like walls, appliances, and the whole project was around $100,000. It looks like a different house. They were very professional and easy to talk. They offered good suggestions. I have no complaints at all. Everything was according to plan and we had no problems.

They're exceptionally professional. They have a very good eye for detail. They do a very detailed and accurate job. There's absolutely nothing shoddy about their workmanship. They're topnotch.

Their carpenter, Jim Heap, can do absolutely anything. He can meiter like you've never seen. It's absolutely flawless. Everything lines up exactly. They take responsibility for each other. They were here when they said they would be here. The work was impeccable and there was not a speck of dust in my house. They demolished a kitchen and there wasn't a speck of dust. It's a family owned business and someone from the family is on sight almost every day. I live in a condo and several of my friends saw my kitchen and ended up using their services.

They did a great job. They were very professional and personable.

Our experience with this company was very good. This company initially remodelled our kitchen but we got a little stalled because the carpenter ended up needing back surgery. That required a little juggling in their schedule. There was a cabinet that came cracked from the supplier and we had to wait for that to be replaced. Then the electrical supplier kept giving the wrong part to the electrician for a ceiling fan. So it took a little while for everything to be completed. We are very happy with them. Sometimes things happen and it does not go smoothly as possible. So they did the whole kitchen. It was basically finished by August then we had some hold ups and then we went on vacation. So when they wanted to come we were out of town. We were not under any particular deadline either. They were obviously short of a carpenter and it was a challenge for them. But they were able to re-work things and complete the kitchen. It pretty much got done almost on time. Then we found the crack on the cabinet and we had to wait for the new cabinet to arrive. Price wise we did not go pricing this job with anybody else. They were highly recommended to us by our neighbours and we will use them in the future. They are a well established company in this area and that was another reason why we went with them.

As all the previous member comments describe, my experience with Detail Kitchen was fantastic. Since I am a widow going through this alone, I was very apprehensive about remodeling in general. I needed someone I felt I could trust. I was referred to Detail Kitchen by a few friends and after research on Angie’s List, I decided to try them. From the moment I arrived at the showroom, saw the beautiful cabinets on display, and met with the owners, Arlene and George, I felt I had nothing to worry about. George who does the technical drawing measured my space and reassured me that all that I was requesting could be done easily. Arlene has many years of experience designing layouts, and she had some really great ideas of what would and would not work in my small kitchen. She was “very patient” and listened to my desires while watching out for my financial concerns. She helped me make informed decisions on a sink, a faucet, cabinet hardware, cabinet door glass, granite even the style of cabinet door, and since she had them all right there on display it was a lot easier to choose. She helped me find a granite company for my counter top, and suggested a flooring company, because “Detail” does not supply flooring. Arlene helped me transform my kitchen from a useless room with a 7’ very narrow pantry with a door at one end, and very little counter top, to a fully functioning room. I have beautiful Cinnamon colored Cherry Wood 42” cabinets that hold more than my pantry did, granite counter tops, cabinets with crown and bottom moldings, under cabinet lighting, ceiling can lights, and a layout that makes my room look larger and gives me 3 times the counter space. I love just being in the room, I may actually start cooking again just to be in the kitchen. All the work is done according to the schedule that Michael, who is the project manager, posts at the beginning of the project. There is no down time, everyday there was someone working on some part of the project to keep it moving along. Between Michael and Jim, my Carpenter, the smallest issue was discussed and completed the best way possible, even before I could mention a concern, it was noticed and taken care of. There were no corners cut, or things ignored because they were not apparent. Michael organizes every part of the job with all the other contractors, even the delivery of appliances from my local store. When Dave the plumber noticed my drainpipe was rotten, he replaced it without even losing a beat. They remove the debris every day so there is never the inconvenience of a dumpster in your driveway. Jim, who is amazing, takes his time on everything he does, and his attention to detail is a rare skill. He made sure that there were no uneven corners or crooked door frames, the cabinets look like they came in one piece instead of many pieces put together. While they are mainly known for kitchen remodeling, they also take care of other home improvements. Jim insulated and built walls in my lower level that had never been finished, separating the laundry room from a family room. He built a closet with pocket doors, and installed 3 room entry doors, while making sure that they were all the same height, because they were all on the same wall. He removed the wall between my kitchen and lower level family room; I now have the family room I have been dreaming of for 30 years. I asked them to insert a pocket door in the doorway between my living room and kitchen, for a little privacy. The wallboard in my living room blisters and peels off a few years after I have it painted, a problem that no one else has been able to figure out, George, Michael and Jim agreed that the walls had never been primed when the house was built; the only solution is to apply new wallboard and start again. They removed one wall for now, and Jim replaced it. Even that was done as neatly as it could be. The whole entire project was completed a week earlier than the schedule, which from I have heard is unusual. Michael is always available for any questions, even after the job is done. All along I knew I could trust them to do the best job possible, from Jim, my Carpenter, to Tom, the Electrician, to Dave, the Plumber, I was always sure that they cared about what they were doing, and that was important to me. But what was apparent through the whole process is that they are all really, really nice people who do their best to make you happy. I think they have the perfect name for their company, because the attention to "detail" is what sets them apart. Yes, I don’t think I could have done any better even if I would have paid twice as much.

George, Arlene, Mike and all of the staff were great to work with. We had spoken to other kitchen designers and remodelers previously but had not found one that we were comfortable working with. The staff at Detail listened to us to understand our needs and were patient as we worked through our decision making process. We were kept fully informed every step of the way. The work started promptly on the day we had agreed upon and stayed on or ahead of schedule at all times. We could reach them easily whenever concerns or questions arose. The result is beautiful and we have received many compliments.

I can't say enough wonderful things about this company and their service. Detail Kitchen remodeled my kitchen 16 years ago and did a remarkable job. Recently a hinge on my corner cabinet broke. I called Detail to see if I could purchase a new one and was told they would have someone come out within the week to replace it. Within a couple of days, Mike arrived and fixed the cabinet at no charge. I would not hesitate to use their services in the future.

Wow, wow, wow!!! Truly a wonderful experience from start to finish, and the end result is absolutely gorgeous! We now have beautiful 42 inch cabinets with moldings, an expansive island with seating, recessed, under cabinet and island pendant lighting, better traffic flow. Everyone who sees the transformation cannot believe how much larger the kitchen looks within the existing space. This was thanks to Natalie, who designed our kitchen while truly listening to our concerns and needs. Natalie and Arlene, one of the owners, were also invaluable to me in helping with tile and countertop color suggestions, as well as with final paint colors for the walls. They were extremely patient and helpful. I interviewed many kitchen companies prior to committing to this job. Detail's was not only the best design, but their attention to "detail", right from the beginning in their drawing and itemized quote, left us feeling that this was a company that was very professional and that knows the business. We were not disappointed. Mike, the project manager and owner's son, arrived the first day with a day to day plan of how work was to proceed. Work was scheduled over a 2 month period and we always knew who was coming and what was going to be done each day. There weren't any gaps or idle time, and the schedule was closely followed. The work was completed on time. The carpenter was an absolute perfectionist, and all the workers were a pleasure to have in the house. If any questions arose, Mike was always available to answer them. They were not the least expensive company, nor were they the most expensive. What we got for our money was peace of mind, excellent work, quality cabinetry and a beautiful end result! We cannot recommend them enough!

Wow! Wow! Wow! We have gone through major remodel projects with other contractors and these guys are top notch! Initially, we were setup with a designer from their showroom, who was fantastic to work with (great ideas and follow-up to calls/emails timely). We were then provided with a very detailed estimate of the work to be done which was fantastic. Our expectations were clearly set as to the start date and approximate completion date. They started on the date expected and we were kept updated regularly by Mike, the project manager, as to the status of the project as it went along. Mike was always at the other end of the phone if I had a question (which is unusual in this industry). They went out of their way to do the little extra things (painting the exhausts and moving old washer and installing in our basement) without nickel and diming us for every little thing! The clean-up after EVERY workday was better than what I could have done! Everything looks PERFECT!

We interviewed DK after a disappointing start w/ another contractor. We had several meetings and then wrote DK a modest retainer check once we agreed to a plan. Arlene performed the design work and it was thoughtful and consistent with our budget objective and family needs. DK walked us through every step of the process - including selection of granite and application. The 9 week project was scheduled to the day and posted. DK stuck to the schedule. The same team worked throughout the project adding continuity. DK hauled away debris daily so there was no dumpster in the driveway and disruption was minimized. The kitchen/laundry are transformed. We felt comfortable enough with DK's capabilities that we had them remodel the family room as an add'l project. Overall, an excellent experience. It is worth noting that although the cost of the project was significant, we believe DK was thoughtful about expenditures and as such, was an outstanding project manager.

I thought the staff was extremely friendly. The carpentry skills were top notch.

WHILE THIS JOB WAS EXPENSIVE, IT WAS NOT THE HIGHEST BID, NOR THE LOWEST BID. ARLENE WAS THE DESIGNER OF OUR KITCHEN AND WORKED WITH US ON EVERY ASPECT OF THE PROJECT. HER SHOWROOM IS GREAT. AFTER HEARING SOME HORROR STORIES OF KITCHEN REMODELING, WE EXPECTED THE WORST, AND THIS EXPERIENCE WAS GREAT! THE WHOLE JOB TOOK ONLY ABOUT 6-8 WEEKS. ARLENE RECOMMENDED MANY FLOORING CONTRACTORS, AND MIKE THE CONSTRUCTION COORDINATOR WAS EXCELLENT. JIM AND BOB, THE CARPENTER AND ELECTRICIAN, WERE TOP NOTCH IN TERMS OF SKILLS AND JUST NICE GUYS TO HAVE WORKING IN YOUR HOUSE - THEY BOTH TOLD US EXACTLY WHAT WAS GOING ON. IT IS HARD TO SAY I WOULD EVER FEEL GOOD ABOUT SPENDING $55,000...BUT IN THIS CASE, THE KITCHEN WE GOT IS TREMENDOUS. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND DETAIL KITCHEN.

I WAS VERY PLEASED WITH MY OVERALL EXPERIENCE. FROM THE BEGINNING DESIGN PLANS WITH STACIE, TO THE DEMOLITION AND REBUILDING PROCESS, AND THE FINISHING TOUCHES. EACH PERSON THEY SENT TO WORK AT MY HOUSE HAD THE PAPERWORK, EQUIPMENT, SUPPLIES AND EXPERTISE FOR THEIR SPECIFIC PART OF THE PROCESS. THE WHOLE PROJECT STARTED WHEN THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD, THEIR EFFICIENCY KEPT IT MOVING, AND IT WAS COMPLETED ON TIME. MIKE, THE PROJECT MANAGER, WAS ON SITE EVERY DAY TO ENSURE QUALITY WORK AND MINIMAL INTRUSION INTO OUR LIVES. JIM, THE EXCELLENT CARPENTER and MASTER OF WOODWORKING, SUMS UP DETAIL KITCHEN'S PHILOSOPHY, ''THEY ALLOW ME THE TIME TO DO PERFECT WORK THAT I'M PROUD OF.'' TOTAL PRICE WAS THE RESULT OF CABINET CHOICES, GRANITE and SIZE OF MY KITCHEN.
