Master bath renovation was done including new flooring, shower and wall tiling; it took many extra months to do (contracted Aug, started work Jan, finished work April, finished fixes Sep). His work (via a worker for him) on the flooring was excellent, but to let him work on the other aspects where he hired subcontractors was mostly problems. We had used him before for a living room wood flooring project, and kitchen tiling and everything was excellent. So, I could recommend his work for wood flooring and floor tiling, but do not let him find you subcontractors for other re-modeling work. Apparently his business is too good now to be responsive, or perhaps he just didn't want to face the subcontractor quality issues. So, the previous living room wood flooring was excellent, floor tiling also excellent, but on the recent master bath update where he took on the general contracting, he was not very responsive and it was difficult to get him to take responsibility for his subcontractors when they messed up. One subcontractor wrote in indelible ink on our new marble wall tile for cutting and then sanded with a 3" sander leaving gouges in the marble; one mis-wired our electrical on two fans. So, I can only recommend Billba flooring for flooring work. He did ultimately go back to the subcontractors to make it right, but it was very difficult due to responsiveness. Hard to rate overall quality with a single number.

Ovi is very professional and punctual. All phone calles/emails were responded to in a timely manner. Installers were very professinal and skilled in completing the job. Very neat and did excellent clean-up. Great job putting up plastic to manage the minimal dust the sander did not capture. Highly recommend for any needed flooring work.

Bilba was great to work with. We contacted them on short notice to refinish our floors before we moved into our house. Bilba did everything from taking out the carpeting, refinishing the floors, putting in new 3/4 round trim and decorative trim on the stairs. The work they did was great and my floors look wonderful. Their prices were also much less than most of the others we quoted. I would definitely use them again.

The process was a nightmare from start to finish. First, even getting him started was virtually impossible. I sent a copy of the signed proposal and a 50% deposit – I was assured that it would take a week to get in the stair parts, and he would get started shortly afterwards. He then claimed that “the parts didn’t come in” and then he told my contractor that he wasn’t sure if I wanted to move forward – then why did I send a deposit?
It took a month to actually start. From the beginning, there were problems. The main floor was sanded and stained, followed by 2 coats of finish. I was told that the wood was now cupping, which I later found out was because he never checked the moisture level of the wood or the room. He told me to buy a dehumidifier at my own expense and run it for a while, and we’d see what to do. Then he tells me that he can’t sand between coats, so he’s going to “buff it” instead. The floor wound up looking and feeling terrible – rough texture and dulled appearance.
Then the stairs – he orders the wrong railings, claiming it was because I sent him a picture of a newel cap, despite the fact that his proposal lists the correct railing. Fine, I agree to pay an extra $1200 – which is totally over-priced, but I just want this nightmare to end. I still can't get him to honor his word and show up to put in the stairs, so I ask him on Friday when will he be done - he says the following Monday. I said, fine, but after tuesday, I'm deducting $500 a day. Now he finally shows up and gets to work.
He says he’s done, and when I go to see the railings, all the spindles are leaning to one side. All the newels are rough to the touch, not even sanded. When I point this out, he says that they just need another coat of finish – since when is finish a substitute for sanding?
To top it off, he’s not put in a new starter step as written on his proposal, he instead put ugly plugs in my existing one. As I point each thing out, he makes some excuses, and finally tries to do the bare minimum to and quot;fixand quot; it.
He resanded the new hardwood and puts another coat of finish, and I had to hire someone else to move all the furniture back. When it happened because he is the only hardwood guy I’ve heard of who doesn’t use a moisture meter.
He replaced the newel cap, and the spindles are marginally better, but they’re still not even. He moved one and says that he’s epoxying it, which is a “permanent repair”- a week later my two year old grabs the spindle as she’s climbing the stairs and it comes loose and she falls. The list goes on and on – a true comedy of errors.
I’ve given up on letting him cover up his mistakes, and I’m going to hire someone competent, especially for the stairs, since that involves my children’s safety. I paid him, minus $500 for being late, and $500 for not putting a new starter step as agreed on. My advice is to run away from Billba flooring and hire someone who takes pride in their work, and knows what they’re doing.

The crew from Bilba Flooring was excellent. They accommodated the tight move-in schedule by starting work on a Saturday and did an excellent job. The estimate was reasonable and accurate to completed work. Best of all, Ovi and his crew really put effort and thought into classy finishing touches. Highly recommended.

All work was done before I moved in. I was not present for any of it

Ovi BIlba was very professional in all respects. Calls were returned promptly, workers were very respectful of our needs to use the space as long as possible, and they moved heavy items in and out of these rooms. We were worried about the mess that sanding and refinishing would make, as it was when we last did this, but equipment and finishing chemicals are very different now. They sealed cabinets and doorways off with plastic while sanding, and vacuumed afterward thoroughly. Work was finished before the promised time. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

Ovie was always polite, on time, and a tremendously conscientious worker. He single-handedly did a very complicated herringbone design (60 sq feet). He cleaned up everything (brought his own vaccuum and cleaning materials) each visit.
