Art The Fix-It Guy

Art has done a number of projects for me over the past several years. From installing an outdoor light fixture, re-attaching an indoor stair rail, securing loose hand shower bar, to recommending matching grout color for repairing grout that was crumbling in spots, Art's work has always been top notch. Growing up, my father was a perfectionist and always went the extra mile to repair things right. Art is the same way. He will do things right, and if it is something he doesn't feel confident about, he'll let you know that too, rather than trying to tackle something that he isn't sure he can do right. Highly recommend!

Fantastically, as always - Art continues to be our go-to person for our late-1950s home's grab-bag of repairs. Art returned our Angie's List message promptly on a Friday, discussed our list of repairs and scheduled us for the following Tuesday, adjusting his normal start time to accommodate another appointment of ours. He arrived right on time and, as usual, got right to work. He brought with him the parts he already knew he'd need, plus a varied collection of assorted parts-together this covered the work we needed done. His repaired versions are far better than the original--closet brackets are now attached to studs in wall! He also fairly assessed the cracked sink basin and explained why repair is not possible and that the surface crack does not affect the sink's function. All done in 2.5 hours! Plus, Art was very kind to our dogs and cats as they supervised from afar - thank you Art for helping us again!

Art was very nice, professional. and patient. He performed the work efficiently and timely. I would recommend Art to anyone.

Very well. He is something we originally found him on Angie's List a couple years ago. He came out did was he was supposed to do.

Art came over within an hour of my call. He diagnosed a strange problem with my door and repaired it. Spent over an hour here but only charged me for one hour, plus made another small repair. Definitely will call him again.

He arrived on time and did an excellent job. I will definitely hire him again if need handyman stuff to be done around the house.

Art is terrific. There is no job that I have  called him about that he hasn't been able to tackle successfully. He is very open and honest, if he believes that the job needs more expertise, he doesn't hesitate to explain that in detail. He has come over within a couple of hours, he even helped one of my friends on Christmas Eve..Highly recommended! 

He arrived on time and his prices were reasonable. He was very meticulous with measuring when hanging the paintings. He taught me a couple of things about removing light bulbs and replacing them with new ones.

Called Art, explained the problem, said he would be over in about 30 minutes as he was going out to run an errand. He came in 30 minutes, looked at the door and handle, went to his truck came back with a screw and screw driver and fixed the problem. Less then 5 minutes. It's hard to find someone to do small jobs and I hit the lottery by finding him. His number is now in my personal directory and I will certainly call him again for a small job. Couldn't have been more pleased. Thanks Art.

I have used Art for various home repairs for several years now, and have always been happy with his service.  I inherited a curio cabinet and after it was delivered and I was preparing to use it, I noticed that the curved glass on the door was not properly anchored on the door, probably due to age and shipping.  This glass is not replaceable, so I knew I needed someone to come quickly and fix it properly right away.  I called Art on a Saturday morning and he was there within an hour.  He identified the problem quickly and was able to fix it with supplies on hand and further put in a few small nails to hold the glass in place  in the event that the rubber stripping along the sides were to come loose again.  My family heirloom looks beautiful and sturdy thanks
to Art.
What I love about Art is that he will never try to do a job if he isn't confident he can succeed.  He will help you find the proper service provider if he feels he isn't the best person for the job.  I would ALWAYS prefer that the contractor take a few more minutes and do a job right rather than rush through and do sloppy work.

I would highly recommend Art for and small handyman jobs and expect to call on him in the future.

I hired Art the Fix-It Guy recently, to install a new ceiling fixture over our kitchen table. To my shock and amazement, it took him 4 hours to do the job! He is showing his age, to the point he could barely get up the ladder. He blamed the long time on the installation instructions. But I consulted with Northwest Electric, where we purchased the fixture, and the confirmed that the instructions were correct. I won’t use him again. I feel I was worked over.

Art told me 2 of the outlets could be done but the 3rd would require going into the wall and installing a new box and it should be done by an electrician.  He told me the gasline to the stove did not have a shut off valve (per code) and called a licensed plumber and set up an appointment to have him do the work for me.  He then put in the sink drain.  I think it was very professional that he is a handyman and knows when a licensed plumber or electrcian should be called and hooked me up with a very good one, Keith Durso Plumbing 847 695-3484 and I will review him also.

Art was professional, experienced, fairly priced and very pleasant.

Work went fine, he got all done just fine.

It was a Saturday around dinner, and there was a plumbing emergency.  I called, he called back almost immediately, was there within a half hour.  He immediately gave a very reasonable price, and I was very happy and very satisfied with work.

Art was great.  I called him Friday morning about broken shelves in closet and he came that afternoon to fix them so we could have our closet back.

Art responded very quickly and came to the house the same afternoon.  He was responsive and professional.

Art is great!  He has done everything from installing a ceiling fan to custom fitting quarter round on our wood floor in two bedrooms.  He is very meticulous and settles for nothing less than perfection in his work. We never hesitate to call him even with the smallest of projects.

He found the parts we needed.  I ordered them and when they came in, he installed them, repairing the windows.  He did just what I wanted.
He is a very nice man with excellent professionalism and communication skills.

It went superbly! During the initial appointment call, we reviewed what we needed done and Art confirmed that these were all things he could do in the morning appointment timeslot (he takes 2 app'ts each day -- 930am and 230pm). He called to confirm the night before and again, reviewed the work we needed, then he would be sure to have all the tools and supplies on hand. Art accomplished everything in the most straightforward, no-nonsense manner -- and did the work in order from the inside of the house to the outside messiest work (removing the garage shelves).  He brought all the needed tools and supplies, so everything got completed in this one visit with no surprises on the charges. We are so pleased with Art's workmanship, we are going to make another appointment for further work at both our home and my mom's. Thank you, Art!
