Overall we are so happy with how the floors look. Paul came out and gave us an estimate and within a few days was at work on the floors. We had not moved in yet so there was not any furniture to move. They worked for about 5 days refinishing all the floors with a "natural" stain and many coats of a heavy-duty poly. The staircase was "giving" a little bit so they installed brand new risers and stained them the same color. Also, at the entry was old peel/stick tile. They took that up and replaced it with new, matching red oak floors and they look perfect with the original. Also, about a week later, I noticed some small, small holes in certain spots (where some of the old carpet was). Paul came out and cleaned them up with some wood filler and gave me the bottle in case I noticed any other spots. The floors are beautiful, durable and look amazing. We are so happy with the results. Thank you Paul and Angela.

They arrived on time, worked steadily, asked questions to make sure we were getting exactly what we wanted, went along with changes - we switched from staining the wood to clear coating, cleaned up and were finished a day earlier than planned. They were not the lowest bidder but seemed the most knowledgeable. When we went back to them with the low bid, they met it. In process they ended up charging less than the bid.

We were contacted right away by Angela and we explained what we wanted. She sent me a picture of a job that they had previously done, and we were convinced by that picture that they could do what we wanted. Paul came out the next day for an estimate, and the work started a few days after that. We let Paul and his team know that we had just put in new carpet, and that we wanted them to be very careful with it. We also asked them to try to avoid spreading dust to the rest of the house. The morning they started, they basically quarantined the room off with plastic sheets and masking tape. Within about 8 hours, they had done the initial stripping and sanding, and we were amazed by how quickly they progressed. The job was definitely dusty, but contained. The next day, they came out and stripped and sanded the finer details of the stairs. On the third day, the first coat of stain (Ebony) was applied. We were really happy with it, but thought it was a bit too black. The next day, Paul and I discussed it, and we decided to add a little bit of brown to it. We were so happy with it when we got back from work that night. About 3 days and a few coats of poly later, the project was done. All in all, it took about two weeks to complete. Angela and Paul were exteremely courteous and professional during the project. We would let them into the house in the morning, and would head to work while Paul and his team did their job. If Paul said he'd be there at 8 in the morning, he'd be there. There was actually one morning where he was running about 5 minutes late, but Angela stopped by on time until Paul arrived. That really made it easy to work with them. We have gotten several compliments on the stairs, and we would recommend PS to any of our friends with an upcoming hardwood project, be it a new installation or a refinishing. If I had known of them before this project, I would have had them install our hardwood floors instead of doing them myself. Paul and his team even offered me some advice on some of the trickier aspects of the project, and let me borrow a nail gun that they thought would do a better job than the one I had been using. We truly enjoyed this project and working with Paul and Angela. We can't recommend them enough. Look no further if you're looking for a hardwood flooring contractor.

We have very high standards and were impressed by Paul Scott's intelligence, skills, and work ethic. He is conscientious and does high quality work. Contractors like him are hard to find! Here's our story: we moved into our house last summer and hired another company to install hardwood in our dining room to match the existing Oak floors. The other company did a terrible job and refused to correct their mistakes. They put in defective boards and failed to match the new floor to the old. We found P&S Hardwood on Angie's List and Paul came by the same day we called. He thoroughly examined the floors and explained solutions to the problems. His estimate included three coats of Synteko, taking off the old shoe and installing new, and moving/replacing appliances. The other company estimates we obtained were more expensive for a lot less work. We had Paul do the work. The floors look beautiful. The dining room blends well with the other floors. Everything looks new.

I called about an estimate for flooring and Paul showed up the same day. He was very knowledgeable and even gave my wife suggestions on caring for our existing floors. The estimate was reasonable. They were at least in the same ballpark as other quotes we had received, so we decided to hire him. We were very impressed with the fact that Paul and his brother did all the work. They were very punctual and the work was completed as planned. The new pre-finished matched the existing floors as good as to be expected, considering the fact that the older wood has already experienced fading. Still we are very pleased with the match. Paul and Angela renewed our confidence in customer service, craftsmanship, and honesty in business.

Floor sanding is a dusting job. They did their best to limit dust propagating to other room. They also did their best to matching the color of the new floor to the adjacent floor. They were very nice to work with and we are very happy with their work.

PS Hardwood were excellent to deal with overall. Angela is the sales representative and she is great to deal with. Paul (the owner) and his brother do the installation and they were great, very polite, knowledgeable, and respectful of property. You can tell that Paul takes great care in the work and is a craftsman. I live in Wheaton and they drove from Antioch to do this job. Another contractor came here recently and he told me that they did an excellent job on the floors. They worked hard to get the transitions between rooms just right. I will definitely have PS Hardwood do any other floor installations work that I have left. The price is very competitive, and they leave the place very clean when they are finished.

I OBTAINED APPROXIMATELY TEN ESTIMATES FROM ANGIE'S LIST RATED COMPANIES. I WAS MOST IMPRESSED WITH THIS. THE OWNER, WAS KIND ENOUGH TO SPLIT THE DIFFERENCE WITH THE LOWEST ESTIMATE WHICH MADE MY DECISION EASY. HE DOES THE INSTALLATION WITH HIS BROTHER. THEY ALSO MOVED ALL OF THE FURNITURE INTO ONE ROOM. HE'S AN ABSOLUTE PERFECTIONIST AND CRAFTSMAN. MATCHING THE STAIN IN THE OTHER ROOMS WAS A BIT TRICKY AS WE WANTED TO COMPLIMENT RATHER THAN MATCH. HE KNEW EXACTLY WHAT WE WANTED AND ITS JUST GORGEOUS. IN ADDITION, HE FASHIONED AN AIR VENT OUT OF HARDWOOD FOR THE FAMILY ROOM. IT BLENDS SO WELL I ALMOST MISSED IT. HIS PRODUCTS ARE TOP NOTCH. THE FINISH COAT IS WATER BASED SYNTEKO RATHER THAN THE LOWER QUALITY POLYEURITHANE. HE USES THREE COATS INSTEAD OF THE USUAL TWO. BOTH HE AND HIS BOTHER WERE PROFESSIONAL AND AMAZINGLY CLEAN GIVEN JUST HOW DIRTY SANDING IS.

PAUL WAS RECOMMENDED TO US AND HE WAS ABLE TO SCHEDULE OUR JOB SOONER THAN ALL THE OTHER COMPANIES THAT WE HAD CONTACTED. THE WORK WAS PERFORMED ON TIME, WITHIN BUDGET AND THE QUALITY WAS EXCELLENT. THE BID WAS REASONABLE, THE SECOND LOWEST OF THE FOUR COMPANIES WE RECEIVED ESTIMATES FROM. PAUL WAS VERY CONCERNED THAT WE UNDERSTAND HOW TO PROPERLY MAINTAIN OUR FLOOR. HE EXPLAINED HOW TO CLEAN AND MAINTAIN THE FLOOR. HE ALSO CAME BACK ONE WEEK AFTER COMPLETING THE FLOOR TO HELP ME MOVE THE REFRIGERATOR SO THAT THE FLOOR WOULD NOT BE DAMAGED. IT WAS AN OVERALL EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE AND I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM.
