We went back to them after the first experience we had little over a year ago. I found through Angie’s List. That is why I became a member because I need somebody to fix my garage door that had fallen. I had no resources being fairly new to the area. I knew about Angie’s List so I went on, signed up, quickly searched, found the top-rated guy, and called them out. They were there the next day. So then, I called them back for maintenance. It still works. I plan to use them again in the future.

The garage door opener was being spastic, thought it might need to be replaced due to age. Duke called immediately after I left a message, and set up an appointment. He called before he came out, while on the way, as well. He repaired the wiring to the sensors for the opener, cleaned the rollers and greased the track for the door, as well as tightened the tension on the door. He didn't seize the opportunity to just replace the opener. He and his assistant were very honest, professional and friendly. We highly recommend Duke of Doors for any garage door problems.

Our 2-car garage door started to break. It was over 20 years old so it needed to be replaced rather than just repaired. Duke of Doors was the second company we had come out for a quote. Duke showed up on time with a sample of how the doors are constructed as well as color options. He gave us a large book showing all the different options available. Sensing how overwhelming that is he pointed out the most popular doors. He quoted 2 styles on the spot and after helping us discuss each option we made our decision. He gave us the final quote for the option we chose and started to schedule it for a couple weeks later. As he was doing so he noticed that there was fraying happening and became concerned that the garage door could come down at any time. He changed our scheduled appointment to the following week. The door was installed a week later and it is absolutely stunning. Duke and another employee installed the door. He said it would take about 3 hours and it did. They were professional, courteous and cleaned up after they were done. They provided maintenance tips as well. I am so pleased with the entire process. Now when I come home and see my new garage door I smile. It fits with the look of my house better than I think the original one did!

Contractor was late, but given that he'd called earlier in the week and wanted to come out a couple days early, I gave him a pass on that. They worked diligently and efficiently. The door went up without any problems. There was some issue with the wiring on the wired openers in the house and garage which he wasn't able to fix. However, Duke did help my husband brainstorm possible solutions for the wiring (which was above and beyond the scope of the job). Clean-up was amazing: wiped down all the fingerprints from the door, siding, and insulation; used a magnet on and around the garage floor to make sure there was absolutely no metal to cause a flat tire; and the best part -- took away all the old garage door! When they left the garage looked great and no one could tell there had been any work done. We put a picture of our 'new garage' on Facebook and have gotten raves from family and friends. Would definitely recommend these guys.

The replacement went excellent. My garage door torsion spring cracked the night of January 14th. I sent Duke an e-mail to schedule an appointment to replace the spring that night and within an hour he called me back. Duke arrived the next morning and replaced the springs in less than an hour, saving me a lot of inconvenience. Great job! Thanks again!

They arrived a little early, but called to make sure it was all right to do so.
The removed the old opener and installed the new one in less than an hour. they also performed maintenance on the door along with the other garage door in that garage. They sweep up all the left over debris. It was a quick, clean professional job.

Spring broke over the weekend, I called Monday morning and Duke scheduled me for the afternoon. Service was quick and professional, the door is quieter and working better than before. Very happy with Duke and the work performed, I will definitely use him in the future! Also, Duke of Doors is an awesome business name!

One fine workday evening, we came home to realize that the garage door didn't want to close. It wanted to bounce and stay open. Seeing this happen in our previous home, I cleaned the sensors and checked the tension and crossed my fingers.
It didn't work and the chain came off the gear.
After reattaching the chain - it kept making grinding sounds as if it wanted to pull off of the ceiling and the door still didn't close. Understanding where my abilities begin and end - I closed the garage door manually and went to Angie's list to find a garage door expert.
Duke of Doors has a lot of great reviews and for great reason. I called Duke on a whim at about 630p and he answered and quickly had an idea of what was broken and that, sadly, I'd most likely need a new garage door opener. We made the appointment for a time that was convenient for me (which was appreciated).
Duke and his crew member arrived on time and the whole process took about an hour.
They walked me through everything they needed to do and gave options along the way.
I opted for a chain-drive garage door opener with 2 lights, an extra garage door opener and a new keypad.
He gave me the option of something with a belt drive or a single light but noise wasn't a factor - but the garage opening successfully was.
They were both very courteous, prompt and tidy.
Having to replace all of those things wasn't the most affordable part of my day, but it paid to have someone who knew what they were doing and have them do it right the first time.
We know who we'll be calling in the future when the garage needs attention.

Contacted this provider Monday morning after my garage door opener failed Sunday. They could have been out Monday afternon, however, I was not home so they came out Tuesday afternoon. I was hoping the opener just needed an adjustment, however, I was showed the damage caused by a failed motor bearing and, it being 16 years old, I can't say I'm surprised

I am very picky with what providers I use and I do my research on Angie's List.
My experience with Duke of Doors was wonderful. They fit me in the same week I called, were not only on time but called me and said they could come earlier if I wanted.
They were very friendly and professional. I felt very comfortable with them doing the work because it was very obvious they knew what they were doing.
They even took the time to answer some questions I had about my garage that had nothing with the garage door.
They were very thorough with taking me through all the info I needed to know about my new garage door opener.
Not only do I recommend Duke of Doors, I will definitely be giving them a call next summer to have them replace my old garage door with a high quality new one.

Pricing was very competitive, which allowed me to get a windowed door for less than a plain door elsewhere. Work scheduled and completed as scheduled. In fact, they accommodated that we needed them to come a little earlier. Duke was courteous, professional, very knowledgeable, and easy to work with. No pressure. He also told me about energy credits that I had not even thought about. Perceived the need for an extra-wide trim -- someone else might not have thought of that. And We were happy to buy a door that was made here in Illinois. Would definitely recommend Duke of Doors and will use them again when we need service.

I just purchased a new home and the garage doors needs to be replaced. I contacted several persons via angie's list. Duke is the only one who shows up and meet me in person for the estimation. All the other guys just drop by and leave a quote in the front door.
During the estimation, I was not sure whether I shall replace the opener. My garage door openers were old but he said I could keep it going and do not need to replace them. I did finally replace them because I found that one of my neighbor can trigger the garage door open. The price he quoted is also competitive. Duke is straight forward in the pricing. He brought up all of the cost involved before we sign the contract.
Before the installation, he explains everything to me as what will be done and what material will be supplied. This helps me to understand what involves with the job and his knowledge about garage doors.
On the installation date, he completed the job in 4 to 5 hours. He told me that there is one section of the door panel has a crease. He tried to paint over but didn't work out. He told me that he will come back to replace the whole session of that door panel. Also, he didn't take any money that date. After a week, he came back as promised and replace that session. Everything looks great.
Lastly, Duke is very good at communication and answers your phone call promptly.
I would recommend Duke to any of my friends who want to install a new garage door.

Found Duke of Doors at the top of my local Angie's list. (There is reason he is there...) He came out on Sat. evening, said it was not much more expensive than waiting until Monday, installed two new springs, recalibrated the opener, and also changes out all my rollers (as they were all loose), and tighten up the whole door. This, for ssme money as a my renters in Gurnee who used someone else, to come out on a weekday, and only change the springs. very nice guy, very professional, outstanding service, at a very fair price.....

I absolutely admire Duke and his operation: punctual, uber polite, kind, professional, etc. They originally came to just fix my dead garage door openers of 3 yrs?.got one working, the other had to be replaced. Ended up getting BEAUTIFUL new doors with glass upper accent as well (no, they didn't strong arm me at all?.it was me who put the question out there re: replacing the both doors :)
