Dan was able to work me into his schedule since we were not living in the house at the time, and I needed him to come about 5 days before his first "opening." He was on time and conducted an unhurried inspection of the electrical service going into the house (which had to be upgraded to 100 amp service). He also looked at the breaker box, and also indicated some problems where it was located and that it might have to be moved. (The previous owners had apparently done a lot of do-it-yourself work n many places of the house, with very strange results.) Dan explained things very well, and gave me an estimate for the work and for the addition of having to move the breaker box. He also pointed out things that the inspector might not like, and his opinion if those would be a problem or if it would be let go since it was that way when purchasing the house. Unfortunately, when I went to get the permit I found the fairly strict city requirement for electrical contractors, and since D.R. Kana was licensed in Illinois, he could not do the work. But I definitely would have hired Dan if I could.
Description of Work: Dan was recommended by my realtor. I asked him to come out and give me an estimate for electrical that was needed for a foreclosure we bought. We had some points from the home inspection, but wanted to see if there was anything else. Unfortunately, because of licensing requirements in the city, Dan could not do the work because he is licensed in Illinois and the house was in Kenosha, WI. The city requires Wisconsin licensing for the permit and the homeowner cannot be the "contractor" on the permit.
