Pohlman Bros. Remodeling

I hired Shaun Pohlman to remove and replace five sheets of drywall and any insulation that had been damaged by water.  I paid for the materials.  This project was at an empty house and I was not going to be present while the work was performed.  Shaun agreed to work for $25 per hour.  Three days later Shaun came to me and said I owed him $500!  Right then I knew he was trying to take me to the cleaners!  I'm a home builder and I know the work he had done should have taken at most ten hours.  He was charging me for twenty hours.  I mentioned that this seemed pretty high and he became belligerent and insisted that I go to the bank to get him his money.  For the extra money he was ripping me off, I figured it wasn't worth a fight.  I would just pay him and consider it a lesson learned.  I did however insist that he put the final coat of paint on it which was only a half hour job.  He said the existing coat had to dry and that he would do it after we got back from the bank.  He got his money and never came back.  Shame on me for trusting someone I don't know.
